School Library Journal : "They do have a simple attractive format that makes them accessible to young audiences. Even in these brief introductions, the author avoids judging these ancient societies by modern-day values. Full-color photos, maps, and reproductions are plentiful and add interest to the texts."
-- School Library Journal (September 2002)
School Library Journal : "Befitting the series title, the book gives a personalized version of this historical movement and the cultural and political elements of the time are firmly in the background."
-- School Library Journal (September 2002)
School Library Journal : "The author presents his information clearly without fictionalizing, and offers some first-person accounts by period writers. The layout is clear and logical. An informative introduction that will have some appeal for reluctant readers."

Book Description
In 1620 the pilgrims sailed for 66 days aboard the Mayflower to find religious freedom and make a better life in America. Their first winter in America was very bad. Hard work and their Native American neighbors got them through and finally everyone celebrated with a huge feast, known as the first Thanksgiving. This book tells of the daily life of the Pilgrims in America, from what they ate and how they dressed, to the importance of church and school and home.
