A very satisfied customer.......2007-05-16
I am an aspiring instructor of online education and found this book to be very informative and enlightening. I would recommend this book to anyone who has the desire to teach online.
~Jibreel
Written for a very narrow audience.......2007-04-22
This book is written for a very narrow audience - specifically those with Master's or Doctoral degrees under their belt. The author even goes so far as to say that people with "only a bachelor's degree will not be able to make a good living but might find some work at the high school level".
There may be a degree of truth to this, but I could not believe they just came out and stated this in their intro. There are plenty of opportunities out there for people with all ranges of experience and abilities, and to throw that wet blanket on the reader right off the bat seems foolish in the extreme - especially given the catchy "Make Money Teaching" title.
I almost bought this book based on the title, the premise, and the favourable reviews it received. After reading the first few sections, and scanning the rest, I left it on the shelf with a "phhfft".
A better title would have been "How to get into online teaching for those with a post-graduate pedigree and little to no computer knowledge". Pass (on the book) and Fail (to be of value to 99% of the readers out there)
The perfect guidebook to online teaching........2007-04-15
It's unusual for me to find a non-fiction book that I couldn't stop reading. This was it. The book came out at an especially good time for me. I was just trying to break into teaching online, and having trouble getting my first teaching gig. This book takes you through that process, in a way that is positive while making a lot of good sense of what to do, and how to do it. Best of all, it helps you understand why to do things a certain way.
I think a lot of people are fearful or hesitant to try their hand at teaching online. All through the book there are words of encouragement and confidence-building suggestions. That's great. The sample documents in the book are a nice touch; instead of just telling readers what to do, the authors show them with examples. I was not aware all these colleges want a statement of teaching philosophy, and that helped, too.
The authors include helpful rundowns on the three main systems for online teaching. The chapter on necessary equipment and technologies helped steer me in the right direction, too.
All in all, this book is quite a gem, a bargain, and a must-have guide for anyone wanting to teach online. I have found it extremely helpful: advice from the experts.
Excellent guide.......2007-04-08
Jim Mirabella and Danielle Babb do a good job with this book. It gives a great overview of the industry, with good insights for newcomers to the online teaching world. It provides a good process review to plan for applying and getting online teaching jobs. Insider tips help to understand the hows and whys of the online schools to better understand where to apply, when, how, and so on.
Informative, Interesting, Easy to read, and even Entertaining at times!.......2007-04-05
This book is a complete guide to successfully beginning and continuing your professional online teaching career. As a current core faculty member at a college, and a former adjunct (12 years), I teach and develop online courses as well as teach in the classroom. The pages of the book are a reminder of the hills and valleys that had to be overcome to begin my teaching career, earn this core faculty position, as well as be offered additional adjunct teaching positions at other colleges and universities. I wish this book had been published 13 years ago! Your book has also given me some great ideas for expanding my online teaching career and increasing my income tremendously. I have recommended it to many friends and colleagues. I look forward to a sequel!

Customer Reviews:
Good.......2007-03-20
This is good for programmers. It's a bit beyond me but I still got some useful stuff out of it that gave me an edge so that made it worth it. If someone is a programmer, this is your book. He's great and gets you thinking.
Useful but.......2006-10-14
remember: there is no such thing as a free lunch..you have to build systems yourself and test test test and then optimise a bit.(I said a bit :-)
Good techniques for developing a system.......2006-01-31
If you want a caned system, this is not the book for you. What this book will teach you is how to evaluate a system that you are developing. It is a little hard to read, but the excel formulas are worth it.
It covers the essetials of a good trading system (entry, exit and money management) and explains why not all good trading systems are profitable. (All profitable trading systems must be good first).
professional methodology of systems dvelopment.......2005-06-08
Very good book for serious system developers. Most books on the topic present a system, optimize it so it fits a particular market, show couple of very convincing graphs and voila, here is the contribution to the trading science.
In this book the author presents system development in the context of portfolio trading: a robust system should work in a variety of markets. Stridsman takes you through his process of testing a system, from setting the data, to performance measures. Results of his systems, by the way, are not "fantastic", and that for me adds credibility. Analysis of his systems is done in a statistical manner, so that all aspects of a system are set up using statistical methodology, as opposed to conventional wisdom. A lot of work is also done in an attempt to introduce some degree of predictability in the author's trading approach. Aspects of system design are discussed in sophisticated detail: MAE, MFE, kurtosis, different types of drawdown, trade efficiency etc.
His optimization techiques are interesting. This is the first time I have seen the use of surface graphs to present two-variable optimization.
Not once in this book I have sensed an advertisement for the author's methods. The author simply discusses his approach. There is no hype, exclamation marks. The book is very concentrated and packed with ideas, which can be applied to any other system or markets. I don't think it would be possible to make it any shorter.
Good value for money if you like quantitative approach to trading.
Trading systems that confuse.......2004-10-13
If you're building a computer based trading system, this title offers some interesting insight. There are several example trading systems that implement commonly used system features, and these systems are analyzed and commented on. But this is far from a blueprint--the methods used are too rough to actually use as defined, and the descriptions are very confusing in many places. Included TradeStation code is a bit easier than most to understand, but that's not saying much. Every time I read this book, I feel like my time would be better spent reviewing Conway & Behle's "Professional Stock Trading: System Design and Automation", which covers much of the same material but with considerably more coherance.

Disappointing-save your money.......2007-02-20
Too academic and nothing new to add to material that is already out there. Not that practical from a swing trader's point of view.
This is a hard read........2007-01-29
I found this book to be difficult to read. I didn't think the book was well organized or well written. I often found myself rereading sections and starting the book over. It was hard to understand some of the information not because it was complicated, but because it just wasn't written clearly.
I would not recommend this for the novice investor. There are better books out there.
Worthwhile.......2007-01-03
I read this book over Christmas break, initially thinking that I had picked up yet another tome that amateur traders would find entertaining, but which would contain little useful information about the actual details of trading.
I quickly realized that Trend Trading was no ordinary book. It is literally packed with trading details, from its in-depth explanation of trend trading and money management tactics to its exposition on the psychological experience during different stages of trading.
What a privilege for us that Kedrick took the time to write this book after 8 years in the markets. A truly worthwhile read
Specific ideas for beginners and serious traders.......2006-11-24
Systems traders have long been known to employ profitable trend following strategies in the futures markets. Applying those concepts to stock trading has proven to be difficult, although the idea of trend following in stock markets dates back at least the days of Charles Dow. In a new
book, Kedrick Brown, a former vice president at Knight Equity Markets, LP, redefines trend trading and offers readers a lot to think about, and readers of this book will find a large number of testable ideas.
Brown reviews the basic tenets of Dow Theory, and summarizes the underlying idea as, "Dow Theory thus assumes that it is only worth
owning stocks during confirmed bull markets in the major indices, and that one should be out of stocks otherwise." He also offers a straightforward definition of a trend following trading strategy as, "Any preplanned, rule-based strategy for managing open position P&L in which open profits could hypothetically grow indefi nitely under a limited
set of circumstances, while open losses are limited under all circumstances."
After developing a common base of understanding, Brown develops a relatively simple trend following strategy applying what he calls three dimensional technical analysis. In three dimensional technical analysis, traders need to consider not only price and time in a single stock, but they should expand their focus to similar information in multiple stocks simultaneously. In his book, Brown fully develops a sample strategy to trade any NASDAQ stock, such as MSFT.
This strategy, one of many in the book, relies on an objective method of defi ning a market's trend - the binary trend identification method using
Donchian bands:
1. Filter condition: Take long positions in MSFT only if the NASDAQ Composite is in an uptrend, defined as price having made a new 32-day high more recently than it made a new 32-day low.
2. Buy MSFT if it makes a new 24-day high while the NASDAQ Composite is in an uptrend.
3. Limit your losses by setting an initial fixed stop at the 24-day low at the time of trade entry.
4. If the initial stop is hit, reenter on a new 24-day high if the NASDAQ Composite is still in an uptrend.
5. Exit if the NASDAQ Composite enters a downtrend, defined by the price reaching a new 32-day low.
Buy and sell decisions in this example follow the trend of the general market. The strategy manages open position P&L by limiting losses and allowing profits to run in bull markets.
Interestingly, specific reentry points are precisely defined. This is often challenging for traders to do, and Brown points out that it is important to get back into positions after being stopped out if trend following in equities is going to be rewarding to traders.
Other trading strategies are comprehensively developed in the book, and the reader is always given a complete understanding of the underlying principles. Brown also devotes a large portion of the book to a detailed discussion on position sizing, and provides worksheets that traders can use or adapt for their personal use to develop trading plans. Overall, the book can serve as a complete "how to" manual for the beginning trader, but offers a great deal for more experienced traders.
In an interesting, but brief section, Brown addresses the institutional money manager's need to add alpha by outperforming, on a relative basis, a benchmark. Assuming the benchmark is the S&P 500, Brown notes, "If you hold a proxy for the S&P 500 at all times when not trading, you need only to outperform the proxy during the holding periods of your trades to beat its long term performance (before commissions and taxes)." The discussion and test results of this point are worth considering for all those attempting to outperform a benchmark.

Book Description
Praise for the first edition of Multiple Streams of Internet Income
"If ever the world needed some help to succeed on the Internet, this is the moment. Robert Allen's new book is just in time to save the day."
—Jack Trout, President, Trout & Partners, Ltd.author of Differentiate or Die
"Earning money . . . serious money, is no different than piloting a jet aircraft or baking an apple pie. You have to learn how and you must understand what you're doing. Robert Allen is a master flight instructor if you want your income to soar. He knows what ninety-eight percent of our population have proven they don't know. Read this book and follow his advice. In a relatively short period of time, you will become wealthy and be amazed at how much free time you have when you never have to worry about money."
—Bob Proctor, author of the bestseller You Were Born Rich
"The only thing better than the promise in the title of Robert Allen's wonderful Multiple Streams of Internet Income is the enlightening information in the book itself. And the only thing better than the book is the life a reader can lead after reading the book and taking the actions that are suggested. Of all the books I've read about earning money online, this one tops the list for a multiple stream of reasons."
—Jay Conrad Levinson, author of the Guerrilla Marketing series
"Robert Allen has done it again! Multiple Streams of Internet Income is an exciting look into the many creative things you can do with your money in today's new economy. I can't wait to use its wisdom!"
—Ken Blanchard, coauthor of The One Minute Manager® and Big Bucks!
"Information is less expensive to manufacture, promote, and ship than hard products such as running shoes and CDs. Robert Allen shares how you can apply Internet technology to selling information: books, reports, articles, seminars, speeches, and consulting. There are a lot of fluff books on e-commerce. This one is detailed, accurate, and readable. Multiple Streams of Internet Income is not just a book, it's a complete and hands-on course in advanced commerce. Congratulations."
—Dan Poynter, author of The Self-Publishing Manual
Customer Reviews:
Can You Make Multiple Streams Of Income Online? "http://www.the-secret-is-out.com.......2007-05-23
I first learned of the term Multiple Stream Of Income from Robert Allen the No Money Down guy. He pretty much coined the phrase all the way to the bank. I read his book a few years ago, it was the number one best seller on The New York Times Best Seller's list. I was so thrilled to get my hands on it I just knew that this was the long awaited manuscript that we marketers wanted to give it a test drive.
It was a good read, however it had too many twist and turns and it cost a bit much at the time to implement his methods from just one website, and it was not the results I was looking for. I knew there had to be a better way for us new marketers to reach that illusive extra income stream.
This Book Inspired Me For Many Years To Seach For A MSI Website:
I begin to wonder, can you actually make multiple streams of income online? I continued my search for the missing pieces of the MSI puzzle that would put it altogether; With the many product offers that promises you the world if you would try this program, and use it with this technique, and you'll surely be on your way to riches.
After several years of online seeking, I can now say I've been to the mountain top of internet marketing offers, and what I have come down with is this; there are many claims being made about multiple streams of income online that you can use right now in your marketing campaign to a steady flow of extra income. I found this unique website with multiple streams of income you can get from Google, Ebay, Clickbank, CJ; etc. All from one cool little website. I have studied the likes of Tim Knoxs, Brad Callen, Mike Falsaime; etc, and a host of other top online experts in this field of multiple streams of income and their proven systems, and what I have found will surprise you.
Don believes that less than 5% of the marketers are making it online, and 95% of the programs online are a waste of money. There are no more secrets, just the facts. If you are focus you'll learn one of many proven marketing tools [...]
Not a good starter.......2007-03-15
Save your money if you are a novice with PC's / cyber space.
how to mass spam and talk about yourself!.......2007-02-23
Reading this was an ENORMOUS waste of my time. Half way through the book, I realized that I didn't know anymore about making money online than I had before. All Allen does throughout this book is talk about how great he is and how he did this, that and the other thing. He talks about all these so called wonderful marketing strategies, when really all he's doing is promoting spam. I'm not even ON his mailing list and I'm getting [...] from him in my inbox. It's disgraceful. I do not recommend you waste your money on this book.
Multiple streams of dishonest income........2007-01-30
Allen's system is shady and manipulative. Very little value is being added to the world. There are millions of crappy websites out there just like his, why is he teaching and encouraging others to make more? It makes the Internet that much worse.
Oversell in Overdrive.......2006-12-31
Master of self-promotion Robert G. Allen has plenty of ideas about how to use words and technology to hype yourself and your business. There's just one tiny thing missing from this forumula: He doesn't tell you how to get this great idea to hype.
He also manages to skirt the truth. For example, he talks about how he made an online offer that became an instant success in 24 hours. He leaves out the time he spent developing a website and the lists of interested prospects to which the offer was distributed. If we add in the time spent building up to making the offer, it isn't exactly a instant success story anymore.
It takes time and effort to develop a business. Allen can dress those facts up in hype -- he's good at it -- but the only business this book will build is Allen's. If your at the point where you have a good idea, a website, and prospects, Allen's ideas may be useful.

Customer Reviews:
Good Advise, Solid Business Model.......2007-06-13
I originally purchased Anthony Borelli's book 'Affiliate Millions' with two other books' to explore the possibility of starting an eBay business. What I got from Anthony's book is a clear understanding on how to start and implement a successful Affiliate Advertising and Search Marketing business online representing some of the best businesses on the planet. Plus I don't have to buy inventory or ship product! This is a dream business, and this book will teach you how to do it!
Issue #1: A very Misleading and Deceptive Title .... Issue #2: ..........2007-06-12
The stuff explained in the book is outdated to an extend that it should not be applied as described (or even can't).
Issue #3 Some examples would violate a lot affiliate agreements today. A beginner would be ill advised to do some of the things described in the book or will risk getting into serious trouble.
Issue #4 It is aiming at people without any knowledge about internet marketing who probably buy the book, because of the promising title, only to find out the hard way that they wasted not only money, but also time.
If you are a newbie to the subject, do yourself a favor and spend your money on other books from Justin Michie, Jeremy Palmer and Rosalinde Gardner for example.
The only positive thing I could find was the fact that the book is pretty cheap for a new hardcover.
Note:
I also like to note that the book got four reviews with 5 stars. What is funny about them is the fact that all four reviewers only happened to review this one book, with exception of one of them who reviewed a second product on the same day when he reviewed this book.
Either did somebody skew the reviews or the book causes one group of people to get extremely excited and do something they never did before and the other group of people to shake their heads in disbelieve that something like that made it actually to the printing press.
If you read the reviews and this comment, think and make up your own mind. You have a brain and a heart and able to be your own judge.
Affiliate Marketing for Newbies.......2007-06-09
I'm always on the lookout for new books on affiliate marketing, and I recently came across "Affiliate Millions: Make a Fortune Using Search Marketing on Google and Beyond," published April 13, 2007.
The book is geared towards affiliates, and I was anxious to read it, as there are few books about the industry, and a lack of resources to provide quality training for affiliates.
To be honest, I was disappointed in the book. While the book promises the reader they can "Make a Fortune Using Search Marketing on Google and Beyond," the approach was elementary. Not the sort of level that's going to bring somebody their affiliate millions.
The book kicks off with explanations of affiliate and search marketing and then follows with individual chapters dedicated to somewhat intuitive processes like joining an affiliate network, applying to an affiliate program, and setting up a ppc search campaign.
Each step in excruciating detail. It seems like they were trying to reach a word minimum, rather than write a helpful guide for affiliates.
If you're brand new to affiliate marketing, this book could be helpful in pointing you in the right direction. But if you've been working as an affiliate for a couple minutes, you'll have a hard time reading beyond the first chapter.
Also, being that it's a print book, some of the key information is already out of date.
The central theme of Affiliate Millions is that affiliate should buy traffic from the pay per click search engines and send that traffic straight to the advertiser's site.
One of the affiliate programs prominently cited in the book is eBay. The problem with this example is that the strategy endorsed by the book (sending traffic straight from ppc search engines to advertisers) is something the eBay affiliate program no longer permits.
Also, I noticed a screenshot in Chapter 2 (Learning About Affiliate Advertising) where a search on MSN is shown with "iPod Nano" as the keyword being targeted. The Apple affiliate program forbids buying keywords with any of their trademarked names.
So if you get Affiliate Millions, take the advice with a grain of salt. It's a decent introductory book for the newest of new newbies.
Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend the book for affiliate marketers with any degree of experience under their belts.
Solid information that when applied works wonderfully!.......2007-06-08
As the bestselling author of "31 Days to Millionaire Marketing Miracles" I
have researched extensively on this topic, and apply what I have learned,
and this is a fantastic reference directly on one of the topics I mention
from my book.
I really enjoyed the fact you could do the steps and make this information work.
It isn't theory, it is a practical guide to becoming an affiliate marketer and making money from ad options.
If you devoted your efforts, you could acheive what you put into it.

31 Days to Millionaire Marketing Miracles
Excellent Realistic Book on Affiliate Marketing.......2007-05-10
This is an excellent grounded overview of how to go about making money using affiliate marketing through search engines. Great detail on joining affiliate networks and programs and launching your search marketing strategy.
This book does discuss the author's success, but he does not throw a bunch of BS at you about how easy it was or will be for the reader. It takes some capital, hard work, knowledge and a little bit of luck just like most business startups.
An excellent book to start learning about search marketing, with solid resources and references for those that want to read more.

Not just about eBay.......2006-07-10
Actually this book IS evenly divide between eBay, Yahoo and Google. Chapters 1-11 are about eBay, 12-21 cover Yahoo, and 22-29 are about Google. We found this book VERY helpful for developing e-commerce solutions for existing businesses. It has some formulas to use for computing ROI on AdWords that I found particularly useful.
Book Should Be Called "eBay 101" Instead.......2006-05-30
I was disappointed in this book because it made me believe that it would be about Yahoo! and Google equally with eBay. However, this book was all about eBay with a tiny sprinkling of Yahoo! and Google here and there -- certainly not enough to include Yahoo! and Google in the title of the book. The book has 29 chapters. It doesn't stop talking about eBay until Chapter 21 then resumes its eBay discussion in Chapter 29.
The book should have been called "eBay 101" or "eBay for Not-So-Dumb Dummies." It does have good information for a complete eBay newbie but I would recommend other books for the non-eBay savvy newcomer like Adam Ginsberg's book: How to Buy, Sell, and Profit on eBay or eBay Powerseller Secrets by Debra and Brad Schepp. In fact, those two books I just mentioned alone should be all you need to get started if you want to make money on eBay.
Pass on this book. It's a rip off. The title is not appropriate and designed to deceive people into believing that the book will give you a strong online selling strategy with a successful mix of eBay, Yahoo!, and Google when that isn't the case. It's all about eBay with a few words dropped in here and there about Yahoo! and Google.

However, a number of savvy traders use the commodity markets to hedge inflation and energy woes as well as prepare for the ever-increasing fiscal volatility we are facing in the New Millennium. The book covers Options and Spreads on Commodity Futures. This little known area of the commodities market is ideal for people who have a steady income and want to earn a second income trading a small amount of capital. The key here is multiple source of income. It is best to keep your day-to-day needs for income separate from your program of wealth building. Online Money Management is the book for you if you prefer to let your bank and broker handle your account-documentation duties online and automatically. The book also deals with the philosophy of wired personal finance, as well as specific Internet resources you can use to meet your monetary goals, or at least get a handle on paying your bills. You'll almost certainly come across something useful in these pages, even if you're already savvy--for example, you probably weren't aware that some companies attempt to find value in the ancient investment documents you might have in your attic, were you?
On the other hand, you may find the site descriptions a bit elementary--the book sometimes goes into a level of detail you won't need unless you actually visit the site. It's a stylistic trap that a lot of Internet writers fall victim to. The investment advice is pretty basic too, comprising all of 10 pages on the fundamentals, most of it at the "What is a stock?" level. Read this book for its references to specialized financial Web sites, and back it up with the surfing you do on your own. Get a dedicated book on the basics of personal investing if you need a primer. --David Wall
Topics covered: Internet resources for those who want to automate banking, investing, borrowing, and bill paying. Other sections deal with insurance, estate planning, and United States taxes.

Customer Reviews:
Very basic.......2003-05-18
This book is good only for people who are really discovering the online world. Basically it's a list of web links with a one page comment giving a high-level summary on the site's content. Don't expect to find advanced tips driving you to unknown features of a web site. Some of the sites mentioned don't exist anymore, but this is understandable given what happened in the dot com industry. On the positive side, it's interesting to note that even if the book is published by Microsoft, the Microsoft's web sites are not getting more visibility (some actually would deserve it).
Great for a weekend crash course on personal finance!.......2001-11-13
Get a cup of coffee, close the door, log on to the internet, position this book on your lap, and invest a little time in your financial future. I'm 26 years old, just starting out, and needed a good guide to cover the basics of budgeting, investing, and making smart financial decisions. This book, paired with the tool of the World Wide Web, gave me exactly what I wanted... with plenty of information to spare. The book guided me to online calculators, informative websites, and other money management tools. I now have a clearer view of where I am today, financially, where I will be if I make no changes, and where I could be by setting realistic goals. By focusing on all things financial on the internet, the book was more than a book: it served as an interactive, hands on financial planning seminar. Revolutionary, proactive, and advocating of every person wanting to follow through on reasonable financial goals. Well done!
Finally.an easy to use money management tool........2001-01-24
We finally have a simple easy to use guide on how to use the computer for true money management. This book is well written and has some great illustrations. We need more books like this.
