Book Description
What's going on in a man's mind? From their early days, every woman has struggled to understand why males behave the way they do. Even long-married women who think they understand men have only scratched the surface. Beneath a man's rugged exterior is an even more rugged, unmapped terrain. What bestselling author Shaunti Feldhahn's research reveals about the inner lives of men will open women's eyes to what the men in their life - boyfriends, brothers, husbands, and sons - are really thinking and feeling. Men want to be understood, but they're afraid to "freak out" the women they love by confessing what is happening inside their heads. This book will guide women in how to provide the loving support that modern men want and need.

Reality Check!.......2007-06-27
This is an awesome book which delves into the insights of what men truly feel and think about regarding a number of varied aspects of life. Without losing it's human touch this book reveals some very interesting survey results that I would never have guessed before. Including the importance of your man having and being shown respect by you as his partner. Coming from a women's perspective, I always considered love one of the most important elements in a relationship. I discovered this is not necessarily true for men. Survey says...Respect is what tops their list. Neither of these elements are better or worse than the other, just different as they reflect how men and women are different.
Another awesome book on relating is called "How to Create a Magical Relationship" written by Ariel and Shya Kane. The Kanes present new possibilities in how to relate to your partner that can create and sustain magical relationships. Disharmony is replaced by ease, fun and satisfaction. Both of these books are insightful and potent in presenting new ways of having the best relationship with your partner and others in your life.
Can Women Truely Know Men?.......2007-06-21
In her book "for women only" Shaunti Feldhahn does an excellent job of waking women up to what they don't know about men. Moreover, she presents the information so that all women can feel like the lightbulb just went on overhead. I've read a number of books on improving your relationship with your husband, but this is the first book that spells it out in practical terms that you can easily understand and apply.
I particularlly liked her chapter on respect. It was helpful to realize that for your husband to feel respected it isn't always about showing respect, sometimes we need to remember to not show disrespect.
Shaunti Feldhahn begins each chapter by detailing her findings via the surveys that she created. Then she explains what those finding mean using stories from the interviews she conducted. Finally she spells out what it means in practical terms for our relationships with the men in our lives.
I highly recommend reading this book. I guarantee you wont be disappointed. The last chapter in particular will touch your heart. Also, if you would like to discuss my review please visit my blog http://oncesoldtales.blogspot.com/
What every woman should read!.......2007-06-09
I wish someone had given me this book to read several years ago. This book really cuts through the fat... I have gotten a deeper understanding of men from this book and so have developed a new perspective on how to love and respect my husband... and all of the men in my life (brother, father, etc...). I've given this book as a gift to my married and single girlfriends!
GREAT BOOK!.......2007-05-30
I really enjoyed this book. It gave fantastic info about what men truly feel and want, by surveying 400 men of all ages. It's a small book and very quick read; great if you have trouble finishing longer books. It helped me understand the fragile nature of men a bit more and made me realize my husband & I were each loving the other the way we needed not necessarily the way our partner needed. It also revealed what things are important to men, especially what we do or don't do to show them we really love them. Must read for all woman.
INVALUABLE Information.......2007-05-22
I learned more useful information about men from this book than almost any source in my life. THANK YOU, Shaunti, for making marriage a MUCH easier proposition by increasing my understanding of the person I'm married to!!

Book Description
The project that captured a nation's imagination.
The instructions were simple, but the results were extraordinary.
"You are invited to anonymously contribute a secret to a group art project. Your secret can be a regret, fear, betrayal, desire, confession, or childhood humiliation. Reveal anything -- as long as it is true and you have never shared it with anyone before. Be brief. Be legible. Be creative."
It all began with an idea Frank Warren had for a community art project. He began handing out postcards to strangers and leaving them in public places -- asking people to write down a secret they had never told anyone and mail it to him, anonymously.
The response was overwhelming. The secrets were both provocative and profound, and the cards themselves were works of art -- carefully and creatively constructed by hand. Addictively compelling, the cards reveal our deepest fears, desires, regrets, and obsessions. Frank calls them "graphic haiku," beautiful, elegant, and small in structure but powerfully emotional.
As Frank began posting the cards on his website, PostSecret took on a life of its own, becoming much more than a simple art project. It has grown into a global phenomenon, exposing our individual aspirations, fantasies, and frailties -- our common humanity.
Every day dozens of postcards still make their way to Frank, with postmarks from around the world, touching on every aspect of human experience. This extraordinary collection brings together the most powerful, personal, and beautifully intimate secrets Frank Warren has received -- and brilliantly illuminates that human emotions can be unique and universal at the same time.

I have loved all of the Post Secret books. They are such a different concept, not like anything you've ever read. I can't wait for the next one.
Great for all ages.......2007-05-25
A great addition to any coffee table. Some of the confessions are hilarious, some of them so sad. All are thought provoking.
This book really is something that anyone can pick up and enjoy - my husband isnt a reader and has enjoyed flicking through it many times.
A daring coffee table book.......2007-05-19
Insightful and provocative, the Post Secret book exposes the dark hidden secrets of everyday people. Definately not for the most conservative this book would make a daring coffee table book for those who aren't afraid to see the truth.

Despite its sensational title, David Bach's The Automatic Millionaire: A Powerful One-Step Plan to Live and Finish Rich is not a get-rich-quick guide. Rather, the book is a straightforward march through common-sense personal financial planning that suggests readers "automate" their contributions to retirement and investment vehicles. Bach, in fact, calls his model the "tortoise approach" to becoming wealthy by retirement age.
In the early part of the book Bach builds on ideas he established in Smart Women Finish Rich and other bestselling titles. His core principle is that, to succeed, you must "Pay Yourself First." In other words, he suggests using pre-tax retirement accounts (i.e. 401(k)s, IRAs, or Roth IRAs) to set aside a fixed, monthly sum of money before considering what is left for living expenses. The "automatic" part of the title comes from Bach's emphasis on using automated payroll deductions to avoid the temptation of using the money to pay today's bills.
Bach insists that "regardless of the size of your paycheck, you probably already make enough money to become rich." But his claims that his plan requires "no budget, no discipline," is a bit disingenuous. His discussion of the "The Latte Factor" shows that, to find money to start a retirement plan, a person with a modest income needs to make an up-front commitment to stop accruing debt and to reduce spending on such "wasteful" items as lattes and cigarettes.
In the end The Automatic Millionaire does not offer much that is new for readers already familiar with personal finance basics like accelerated mortgage payments, "the miracle of compound interest," and the setting up of emergency funds. But, for those just starting with financial planning, Bach provides a host of resources to put recommendations into action. He walks his readers through such fundamentals as shopping for interest rates, creating a balanced retirement portfolio, and consolidating debt. And Bach's conversational style will make this quick read highly palatable for those daunted by more detailed investment and personal finance titles. --Patrick O'Kelley

Customer Reviews:
Choose To Become Rich Automatically .......2007-04-26
There are no new ideas in this book nor are there any secrets to becoming rich. Basically, the whole book discuss having part of paycheck, pre-tax if you can do it, deducted automatically and let compound interest and time work its magic to make someone rich. Needless to say, the younger you are when you start this, the better off you'll be. Most of the calculations in the book presume that the investor will be able to obtain 10% annual returns over the course of their lives, which is always hard to predict given our volatile future and the state of the markets. What this book does do well, however, is motivate the younger generation to start saving money for themselves and their future. We live in a culture defined by making more to spend more. This, we all recognize, is not wise, yet few people actually diligently follow the advice in the book. It's a short and quick read, but had it gone on too much longer it would have become too repetitive.
Great Advice.......2007-04-20
This book is highly motivational. If it's at all possible to spare a $1 a day you can become an Automatic Millionaire. The pay yourself first plan has made an enormous difference in my life and my savings. It can be a struggle sometimes, but I'd rather struggle now than when I'm 80!
The Automatic Millionaire.......2007-04-10
This book has made such a difference in our financial life. I have given it as a gift, including to college students as they graduate. It is an easy read (Bach says 2 hours). Advice is simple, easy to follow, bite size. Although we had already done well at savings, this book still had a lot to offer. Covers everything from debt to donations. Not for the sophisticated investor.
Confused.......2007-03-09
I really have no problem with the basic concepts of the book. In fact, I agree completely with them. We should pay ourselves first and do so automatically. My problem comes from two things:
1. The author's ideas aren't original. He's just given them cutesy names like Latte Factor so that he could more easily market them.
2. I don't see what the Latte Factor has to do with anything else in this book, which left me confused. The Latte Factor simply means we all have things in our lives that we waste money on, money that could be used to generate wealth. The rest of the book delves into the importance of paying yourself first by setting up an automatic system that puts a portion of each paycheck into some kind of retirement vehicle, like a 401k. Well, if one does that, then where does the Latte Factor come in? If I'm automatically setting money aside, then why should I be concerned about what I spend on a day to day basis? The Latte Factor is only meaningful to someone who lives on a budget, but the author states repeatedly that living on a budget is wrong and doesn't work. So what's the point of the Latte Factor!? As long as I'm automatically setting aside money to generate wealth, who cares if I indulge at Starbucks or anywhere else? Maybe I'm making too big a deal of this, but it really bugs me. Still, I would recommend the book to someone who has no clue about wealth generation and retirement planning.
The Automatick Millionaire.......2007-03-09
This is a very interesting book and full of great information. After I purchased this book I was so impressed I ordered a book for my daughter who is nineteen, and purchased three more for co-workers that wanted the book after looking over mine.

Book Description
When Mehmet Oz or any of New York's leading doctors has a patient whose life depends on losing weight, they call on Joel Fuhrman, M.D. In EAT TO LIVE, Dr. Fuhrman offers his healthy, effective, and scientifically proven plan for shedding radical amounts of weight quickly, and keeping it off. Losing weight under Dr. Fuhrman's plan is not about willpower, it is about knowledge. The key to this revolutionary diet is the idea of nutrient density, as expressed by the simple formula Health=Nutrients/Calories. When the ratio of nutrients to calories is high, fat melts away and health is restored. Losing 20 pounds in two to three weeks is just the beginning. The more high-nutrient food Dr. Fuhrman's patients consume, the more they are satisfied with fewer calories, and the less they crave fat and high-calorie foods. Designed for people who must lose 50 pounds or more in a hurry, EAT TO LIVE works for every dieter, even those who want to lose as little as 10 pounds quickly. No willpower required-just knowledge!

Feel cleaner and sexier than I've ever felt.......2007-06-18
I've read and tried many diets for health purposes and let my body decide which one is right for me. This is the one that's right for me. A former Zone fan, I still suffered from allergies and intestinal problems and never felt 'lean and clean' like I do now. I have a big sweet tooth and once in a while I try my old cookies and (soy) ice cream but they don't taste as fantastic as they used to. I now actually prefer fruit and salads (and some fish once in a while) which is something I never thought could be true for me. Its not the diet that's so powerful; its the information transfer (that's backed up by my body's agreement) that makes this so easy to follow. I've never been a 'live to eat' person and always thought I was eating to live; but now I'm very happy that at age 41 I've found something that my mind, body and spirit all agree with.
The weight will come off!.......2007-06-13
Dr Fuhrman gives you the way to do it. He says give it six weeks-in three DAYS I felt a major difference. Higher energy, clearer thinking, lost weight. This was alot different from always being sick and tired of being sick and tired. Allergies decreased, anxiety decreased, simply from knowing I once again, after years of fatigue, had the energy to deal with problems. Plus I still enjoy meat, eggs, and dessert, I simply decreased it to once a week and still lost 15 lbs easily. Food binges? Still have them-cantelope, celery amd hummus, salad with spicy mustard etc. This is the answer so many people are looking for! Thanks Dr Fuhrman!!
It's now my bible.......2007-06-08
The information in this book is well documented and very useful for anyone iterested in excellent health. He covers all the common disorders in the United States, usually based on poor nutrition. He then gives very easy to follow solutions for the diet to improve one's health. Nothing is off in "left Field" and simple to follow and will increase energy and health levels very early on the diet. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in improving their health. It's a great reference book...I won't even lend it because I need to look at it on a daily basis. No wonder our local library never had it on the shelves...that's why I finally bought it and have not been sorry.
Eat to Live.......2007-06-08
Compelling, pertinent information substantiating a simple, pure diet that is good for body, mind and soul...as well as the animal kingdom and planet.
healthy living.......2007-06-08
A great book to understand what food does to your body. I personally will not follow the plan to the letter, but I have adjusted my diet considerably and find I feel much better, have more energy, and don't crave junk food nearly as much.

Customer Reviews:
Great book for men and women!!.......2007-06-27
I was curious to read what men are reading about us (women). This book gives a straight forward explanation of why we act the way we do. As a woman, I gained some great insight into my own emotions and behaviors. For men, this book would go a long way to decode the mysterious land of female emotions.
For Men Only.......2007-06-27
So glad I read this book! What a great insight into the emotional and thought lives of men...and a great big plus: its Biblically based.
Men Are Hopeless.......2007-06-15
This is actually not a bad book. It was given to me by a friend right as I got married. It contains pearls of wisdom about how women should be treated and what they look for. Much of it is common sense but other parts are less intuitive for men. Women just think about some things differently.
The book does a pretty fair job of pointing out pitfalls and common misconceptions. It even points out that women have many similar problems dealing with and understanding men. I could not help coming away with the conclusion, however, that men must deal with female misconceptions by adapting themselves and that women must deal with male misconceptions by having their men adapt themselves. Its not quite that stark but almost.
Still, this book has its place and will help many of us burdened with a Y chromosome to realize where we so often go wrong.
Knowledge Imparting.......2007-06-10
I like the way that this book is based on statistical data; that the points developed are from surveys of hundreds of women. Knowing what happends in the lives of other poeople gives a stronger urge to accept what may be new ideas. Practical examples are given of other people's situations that then can easily impart the understanding needed to make changes in our own lives. I definitly recommend For Men Only: A Straightforward Guide to the Inner Lives of Women!

Wow! Guys are you in for an eye opener. I would say this is a must read for every man on the planet! I thoroughly enjoyed this book by the husband and wife team.
There were things in there that I thought that every guy knew, and I found out that they don't. What an experience.
The book is laid out first and foremost like a map for all the guys out there. There are five key points that are stated right up in the front. No bones about it writing here, and there is no beating around the bush. So just dive on in and hang on for dear life.
The first area that is addressed is that "Women have a fundamental insecurity about your love." They need to be reassured, now to you (men) this may not seem logical, but it is necessary. There are hidden triggers to clue you in: conflict, withdrawal, silence, her "emotional bank account" is depleted, you're absent a lot, unresolved relationship issues. Lucky for you guys that there are two key solutions: Regular Reassurance, and Persistent Pursuit.
Lesson number two is that women are always thinking about many things. These things can be unwanted and even unwelcome, they can't help it though. Realize that you may not be the issue, even if you are affected by it. Think of her brain like a computer with several things open and she keeps jumping from task to task, and there are hundreds of those pesky little pop-ups that come all the time. This may give you a clue as to how your woman's brain works.
Next is that women need "security", and no it is not the type of security that you are thinking. Emotional security is much more important than financial security to a woman. They want their man to be there for them, not always away providing. Another key thing is that they want you to be happy with your job, even if it means that there may be some financial struggles. A woman picks a happy man over an unhappy one any day.
Contrary to men's beliefs, she doesn't need space, she needs to talk. No she does not want you to take the place of her best friend and be there for hours of conversation. But she does need you to be there and really listen. "The person who listens holds enormous power. They even give specific steps on how to be a good listener.
Sex is important to her too! If she is saying no, it's not you she is rejecting. Women are a different beast all together, and it is the same with sex. For a guy it is like flipping a switch, but for a woman there has to be a warm up first. If she cannot switch over to sex mode, it may be that she is dealing with something from the day still and cannot get that pesky pop-up to go away. It's usually not about you the man, or even that she is turning you down.
Beauty is important to your woman and she needs to know that you find her beautiful. Tell her and reassure her (just like with your love). There is still a little girl inside that needs to know that you, her main man, finds her pretty and attractive.
In conclusion, the ball is in your (the man's) court. Know that the woman in your life most of all wants you. You are central to them, and are needed. You now have the knowledge into the wonderful woman who you love. These lessons can be applied to your mother, wife, daughter, sister, cousin, co-workers, and just about any woman that you come into contact with. Who knows, you may even have a better life by practicing some of the things in the book.
I know I wrote this review to the men, but it is the only way that I can truly express what I learned. Women can learn a lot from this book too. It opens up a door to how your man thinks about you, and areas that you can help him understand you better. We are made to compliment each other and that is why God made us so different.
This book is also in the same format as Shaunti's book For Women Only. It is easy to follow along, and an easy read. Compliments all around.

Book Description
Thirty years ago, Sara Davidson wrote the phenomenal bestseller Loose Change, the definitive book about the boomer generation’s coming-of-age. Now this witty social observer has again turned her discerning eye to her contemporaries, with Leap!, a no-holds-barred, illuminating, and hopeful look at the choices and challenges we face and the roads open to us.
For many years Davidson earned a living as a successful journalist and screenwriter, but in her fifties she saw her life come apart: She could no longer find work, she endured a break-up with her partner, and her children left for college. For the first time ever, she had nothing to do. She felt adrift, but she found that she was not alone.
In Leap!, Davidson sets out on a passionate quest to learn how to do the coming years well. Drawing on her own experience and that of others, she explores such questions as
• How does a high-powered person learn to walk down the ladder gracefully?
• How can women continue to be sensual and not touch-deprived?
• How do we arrange to grow old with our friends?
• What will be the fire at the center of our lives?
• Why are we still here?
Davidson interviews people from across the country and from all walks of life, including such icons as Carly Simon, Tom Hayden, Tracy Kidder, Jane Fonda, Ram Dass, and Iman, as well as teachers, writers, psychologists, businesspeople, and spiritual leaders. The candid portraits are both inspiring and cautionary.
True to character, boomers will approach these years differently from previous generations, and there will be no single path. Some will feel free for the first time to take risks; others will embark upon a spiritual search; some will want to give back, to make the world a better place; others will want to play or make creativity a priority. But they will not fade quietly into the sunset.
With Leap!, Sara Davidson holds up a mirror for readers, allowing them to see not only themselves and those around them but their potential future. With Davidson as a guide, the possibilities are boundless.

Leap Was A Let Down.......2007-06-28
This book promised a lot and delivered very little. The cover tag touts: informative, entertaining, and above all, helpful. Leap! strikes out on all three counts. It read like a boring letter from an acquaintance who was very into name-dropping. I've enjoyed other people's vacation pictures more. There was nothing in this book that provided boomers with real-world options to use as they move through this life transition. Most of us don't relate to Jane Fonda, Carly Simon or the CEO of Air America Radio. What I was looking for was some advice from others in their boomer years for coping with life after 50. I wanted tried-and-true ideas about what to do now that my kids are grown and I have some time to devote to myself. This book is not the place to find that information. But if you want to read about all the famous writers, actors, models, etc. that Sara Davidson has known, this is the book for you.
LOVED Leap!.......2007-06-27
I just finished Leap! I am sorry that it ended. Sara Davidson has fast become one of my favorite authors. Her style is easy to read, and her facinating details really draw you in. If you are a baby boomer, you should read this book! If you are not a baby boomer, you will be 50 one day, and you should read this book too!
disappointing and disjointed.......2007-06-19
I bought this book having read an early chapter online, but found that much of the rest of the book did not follow through on the promise of that chapter. Also, in my opinion, the book became mired half way through in way too much detail about middle aged sexuality, not to mention the excruciating and unnecessarily lengthy description of face lift surgery--this is not at all what I expected to read about here. I am a boomer, soon to be empty nester, no longer in a relationship after thirty years of relationships, a little bored at work after twenty something years in the same field, and did not learn much beyond don't panic and stay open, which is useful as far as it goes. I liked the chapter called The Narrows and wanted more in that vein. A much much better book that might serve the same purpose is Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
Primes the pump.......2007-06-18
Leap goes far beyond being interesting and informative. Davidson's willingness to be open, honest, and vulnerable about her own journey plus the many resources she includes, provide that essential cup of water that stimulates the old pump (brain) to bring forth an overflow of creative ideas for work and service.
Great Book.......2007-06-14
Really enjoyed the book. Nice to see other folks in the same age group experiencing the same "challenges" in life.

My secret's in here!.......2007-03-27
I drove 3 hours to Portland for the book signing and missed it so I could go visit a friend in prison instead. I bought an autographed copy at Powells on the way home. I drove 3 hours home before I read it and found my secret. It takes up a whole page, I mailed it in over 2 years ago. I felt like a million bucks. My mom lives out of state. She bought it and called me to tell me she saw my secret in the book and that it was obvious it was mine. I feel relieve that she knows my secret now and I didn't have to tell her face to face. This is a book that can be embraced by EVERYONE of any race, background, religion, personality. It gives the human race a common bond and makes us feel less alone. Thank you Post Secret. You help us heal our souls.

Caroline leads you step by step through your interior castle, the mansions and rooms. Her meditations are both challenging and soothing. You experience yourself in a whole new light.

I used to listen to Myss all the time. I stopped listening to her because she was so abusive, and I have heard that she has not gotten any better.
She seems to come from an alcoholic family.
After you listen to her, I suggest you get

If you are sick to death of reading books to help you get out of life's rut. Then Caroline's Entering the Castle may be what you need to hear.
She pulls no punches and she takes no prisoners. It's all about you doing the work to find inner peace. If you are a victim in life and everyone is to blame for your misery then give the CD and Caroline's book a miss.
Not for the Lazy.......2007-05-19
I have attended the live workshop of the same name. This CD has all of the information, and access to the same growth experiences as the workshop had. (Of course, it can't provide the immediacy and intimacy of the group experience.)This material would be useful to anyone who has some familiarity with mysticism in general, with Carolyn Myss' work specifically, and who would like to commit time to inner work.
if you like being berated then this is for you.......2007-05-14
I was waiting for this cd series to get better, but in the end I couldn't stand listening to it, if you are new on the path then when she generalises about people's faults you'll probably feel she's talking to you.
I just kept wondering why is she so angry, I thought I would jot down the locations of the mediations but even the mediations didn't feel harmonious or conducisve to spiritual growth so I've put this in the cupboard.

During his junior year at the University of California, Dan Millman first stumbled upon his mentor (nicknamed Socrates) at an all-night gas station. At the time, Millman hoped to become a world-champion gymnast. "To survive the lessons ahead, you're going to need far more energy than ever before," Socrates warned him that night. "You must cleanse your body of tension, free your mind of stagnant knowledge, and open your heart to the energy of true emotion." From there, the unpredictable Socrates proceeded to teach Millman the "way of the peaceful warrior." At first Socrates shattered every preconceived notion that Millman had about academics, athletics, and achievement. But eventually Millman stopped resisting the lessons, and began to try on a whole new ideology--one that valued being conscious over being smart, and strength in spirit over strength in body. Although the character of the cigarette-smoking Socrates seems like a fictional, modern-day Merlin, Millman asserts that he is based on an actual person. Certain male readers especially appreciate the coming-of-age theme, the haunting love story with the elusive woman Joy, and the challenging of Western beliefs about masculine power and success. --Gail Hudson
Book Description
Way of the Peaceful Warrior is based on the story of Dan Millman, a world champion athlete, who journeys into realms of romance and magic, light and darkness, body, mind, and spirit. Guided by a powerful old warrior named Socrates and tempted by an elusive, playful woman named Joy, Dan is led toward a final confrontation that will deliver or destroy him. Readers join Dan as he learns to live as a peaceful warrior. This international bestseller conveys piercing truths and humorous wisdom, speaking directly to the universal quest for happiness.
Customer Reviews:
Same story, new author.......2007-06-27
The premise of this book/movie is based upon ancient Kemetic knowledge which is over 3700 years old. That it is being presented here in a new light is great, however this information is nothing new. If it would have never been 'conquered' by the so called great civilizers of the world, this planet would not be in the condition it is in today. A good refresher though & introduction for those who are not in touch with the philosophy behind this book/movie.
Major disappointment.......2007-06-27
This book has been on my short list ever since I read Millman's The Journeys of Socrates last year, which I absolutely loved. I found that book to be a vivid, suspenseful, and captivating story that I definitely plan to read again.
I was therefore quite surprised that Way of the Peaceful Warrior was extremely disappointing from almost the very first page. The writing is mediocre at best, and is sometimes even worse than that. The characters are two-dimensional, while Millman's descriptions of things, places, events, and even concepts central to the theme of the book are shallow and underdeveloped. Perhaps the worst aspect of the book is the absolutely wretched dialogue, which is always forced and unnatural, sometimes laughably so. It's just impossible to visualize people talking like the characters in this book and saying the things they say. At no point in the story did I ever feel even the slightest bit of suspense, awe, or wonder. There's almost no emotion in the book, and what little there is seems completely contrived. Millman admits at the end of the book that he wrote it in three weeks, and it really shows.
I'm really amazed that so many people have rated this book so highly and that so many people say it changed their lives. This is not a deep, reflective, introspective book by any means. At best it is a second-rate self-help book. And this is coming from a person who was really looking forward to reading it. The reason I didn't give it just one star is that I did glean a few little nuggets of wisdom and insight here and there, but I could easily fit them on half a page of paper. It's not worth trudging through such a poorly written, boring, and uninspiring story just for that.
I'm still at a complete loss to reconcile this train wreck of a book with The Journeys of Socrates. I supposed I can chalk it up to the fact that nearly three decades transpired between the books, and Millman must have learned how to write better during that time. I guess I'm just in the minority of readers who have very little positive to say about Way of the Peaceful Warrior. It's hard for me to imagine how this book has actually changed anyone's life in any major way. Obviously others enjoyed it immensely, though I honestly cannot fathom why
Way of the Peaceful Warrior .......2007-06-13
How far would you go to reach unreasonable happiness? Would you set your whole life aside for a man the promises you a life time of happiness, before you even know who the man is? In this book a student named Dan, puts his college and carrier to a sudden stop when he meets a man named Socrates. He tells Dan that he knows the path to finding unreasonable happiness, and Dan is willing to find that path.
Way of the Peaceful Warrior is a funny book, and very good book. It shows you while reading the book, how you can live your life and reach happiness on another level, then just laughing all day. It shows how you can in joy life, to the littlest detail. The best part in the book I would have to say is when Dan pushes past his mentally expectations and pushes his body to it's limits, breaking past his blocked mind from seeing, life to its fullest.
This mind is the one thing that holds back yourself and the body from reaching great height. The constant thoughts that pass through your head, the talking that you do to yourself, and telling yourself that you can't do anything. It's like a poison that holds you down from accomplishing anything. The mind is a limitation to our body and our spirits. I think that this is the message that Dan Millman was trying to send to his readers, that when u move passed the mind, you can live life to its fullest.
The book is a great book, one of the best I have read. It was hard for me to put it down, and thoughts were always racing through my head of what was going to happen next, and why something happened the way it did. I recommend this book to who ever would want to read it.
Great Trailhead........2007-06-11
Let me begin by stating that I loved this book. I have been studying Buddhist and Eastern philosphies for a while and I still had things to learn from this book. I see this book at an explanation of many Buddhist beliefs (such as 'no-mind' and 'live in the now'). I do think that this book is a great starting place for people that are interested in the buddhist way of life, but are having a hard time wrapping their mind around many of the Buddha's obscure concepts. I had to give it 4 stars as the editing is not up to parr. This may have been fixed in later editions, as I have a very old copy that I purchased from a used book store. The editing mistakes were so noticeable at some points that it interrupted the flow of the amazing story. Other than the errors, however, I was completely engrossed by the book. It showed a real world application of ancient teachings. ANYONE THAT READS THIS BOOK NOT REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!

Psychiatry and metaphysics blend together in this fascinating book based on a true case history. Dr. Weiss, who was once firmly entrenched in a clinical approach to psychiatry, finds himself reluctantly drawn into past-life therapy when a hypnotized client suddenly reveals details of her previous lives. During one hypnosis session his client introduces the spirit guides who have been her soul therapists in between lives. This is when the story really takes off for Weiss, who discovers that these guides have specific messages about his dead son as well as Weiss's mission in life. No, we cannot verify the truth of this story using the limited scientific tools we have available. However, it is hard to dispute that this well-respected graduate of Columbia University and Yale Medical School has discovered a personal truth that has led him to be an enormously popular speaker, author, and leader in the field of past-life therapy. --Gail Hudson
Book Description
As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from the "space between lives," which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss' family and his dead son. Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career.
Customer Reviews:
Next time I'm calling Dr. Weiss.......2007-06-27
Dr. Brian Weiss has done for the subject of past lives and reincarnation what Dr. John Mack did for the subject of alien abductions; namely, bring these taboo topics into the realm of legitimate scientific enquiry. To rational critics hostile to either man's work I can only offer a quotation attributed to Albert Einstein by way of rebuttal: "What we believe determines what we can learn." As to all those religious zealots who think the church should put Dr Weiss under house arrest along with Galileo for having the audacity to undermine their dogmatic indoctrinations with evidence to the contrary, I offer only the immortal words of Don Henley, who said: "Get Over It!"
For those skeptics who have long questioned the reliability of hypnosis as a tool for this type of enquiry, I would like to offer in evidence the fact that hypnosis is not the only means by which historically verifiable evidence of past lives has been uncovered; my own life being one case in point. While I have always kept an open mind with respect to the possibility of reincarnation, I had always remained decidedly reluctant to explore the matter, even after what happened to me in the spring of 1975.
My girlfriend, who would later become my third wife, was sitting in front of me reciting an 800 year old Greek Orthodox prayer that was reputed to dispel evil and quiet the mind when she was suddenly overcome by a spontaneous psychic vision of a very old, thin and tall monk dressed in red robes. As soon as she described him I was immediately struck by his similarity to what a previous psychic had referred to years earlier as my "very powerful spirit guide." Almost immediately she then reported that his features were morphing, first into a Prussian General, then into a Mongolian Warlord. Next she reported seeing an amorphous blob of grayish-white energy off to my left that she found to be inextricably terrifying.
Several months later she and I decided to take a weeklong seminar in psychic healing and during a class aura reading exercise, in which I was the subject, the entire class reported seeing everything she had seen months earlier, and in exactly the same order and detail. According to the instructor the man in red robes was indeed my spirit guide, the Prussian and Mongolian were personas from two of my past lives, and the blob of energy was a "familiar spirit," an artificial being created during one of my past lives of high psychic development.
This is the point in the story where I probably should have sought the help of someone like Dr. Weiss. Unfortunately, I decided to tough it out on my own. For the next 25 years I was continuously plagued by spontaneous encounters with "psychics" who seemed bent on answering all the questions I was too afraid to ask about the events of these two previous lives, many of them people just like my wife who had no inkling of special gifts prior to their encounter with me.
As the evidence continued to mount I eventually began to realize how the tragic events of these prior lifetimes had in fact shaped both the events and the relationships of my current life. Almost everyone in my current life it seemed, friends, lovers, wives, etc, had played some pivotal role in these former incarnations and had returned to "help" me resolve the issues, whether I wanted to or not.
Aside from the karmic issues that needed resolving there was also a lot of other knowledge to be gained along the way it seemed. Things like discovering my personal role in Genghis Khan's conquests and Germany's involvement in World War I, or how to communicate directly with my Guide, how to control my familiar, what my spiritual dharma was and how that related to my having been initiated into a spiritual brotherhood while still in my teens. I even learned how to defeat the inorganic inter-dimensional parasites that feed on the dark emotional energies we generate when we succumb to the negative thoughts they implant into our minds. Yep, spooky stuff to be sure.
Amazingly, after documenting all these events in my spiritual autobiography, "The Vortex: A True Story of Passion and Karma" I was even able to substantiate many of the events described through historical research. Still, in retrospect, if I had it all to do over again, I would call Dr. Weiss. Something tells me the whole thing could have been handled a lot faster and less painfully with his help.

Many Lives, Many Masters.......2007-06-01
Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian L. Weiss, M.D.
The book was very involved and complex in the way of Catherine's thoughts and memories and several accounts of different past lives. Many of the discussion from the "masters" lead Dr. Weiss along a path of answers to his personal life, of which he thought he had no questions about.
The book was inspiring in the aspect of persuasion. It shows readers that with persistence and confidence, you may learn more about life or others than you may even bargain to learn.
It also leads the readers into feeling that perhaps taking advice may be for our own good, and that stubbornness helps no one.
I enjoyed the book. Many Lives, Many Masters was really well designed so that the reader can feel involved in the meetings between Catherine and Dr. Weiss. It is the type of book that readers have trouble putting the book down. The results of the book were as conclusive as they could be, but still left me wanting to further the research I have begun about the theories of past lives.

Why we should make love, not war........2007-05-14
It's unusual to read a book like this written by an accomplished psychiatrist/professional. But I personally had conversations with a psychiatrist friend who was talking generically about his patients in a mental hospital. It was striking to me then that he wouldn't allow his psychic patients to touch him in any way because they frequently were known to 'see' negative aspects of one's future.
Good story, fun reading and with a most important message.
Rah-Rah. Great message and the right one to live by.
Make love, not war.
Life-changing.......2007-05-12
This book is one of those novels that has an immeasurable impact on your life and changes your philosophy, values and priorities forever. I send it to all my friends who are at the point in their lives, at whatever age that occurs, when they are questioning existence and its purpose and what happens after!
Keep an open mind and read it.......2007-05-02
I'm not sure exactly how great an impact this book had on me but it had definitely changed certain aspects of my view of life. I particularly like the scientific approach Dr. Weiss took to analyze the unusual experience he had with one of his patients named Catherine. He scrutinized and evaluated every detail of her past-life memories and spiritual experiences with the mindset of a scientist and for me, as someone who has been trained throughout his whole life to think logically and to take everything with a grain of salt, this approach is much more appealing and convincing compared to those psychic experiences often reported on tv and magazines. I think the most important thing is to always keep an open mind and be willing to listen to differing accounts before you decide whether to believe them or not.
If you are suffering from health problems or the loss of someone important to you, this book is especially suitable for you to read because it may help you overcome the grief or anxiety and find an inner peace that you would have much needed. Hesitate no more, grab this book and be ready for a life-changing reading experience.
