The goal of the Grappler SCSI was to create a family of high performance SCSI interfaces for the Macintosh, at very reasonable prices. The Grappler SCSI is ideal for the new "Blue" G3's which lack on-board SCSI, or for the older PCI based Macs which require a major SCSI performance increase. There are economical models for attaching external SCSI peripherals such as standard hard disks, Jaz drives, scanners, as well as high-performance Grapplers for RAID applications. This top of the line Grappler SCSI 940UW pipelines data at a blistering 40MB/sec for up to 15 SCSI daisy-chained peripherals. That's 8 times faster than Apple's original built-in SCSI port. Customers for this Ultra Wide SCSI-3 interface are expected to be users of high performance internal disk drives or sizeable extended disk arrays (e.g. RAID configurations).
