Product Description
If you specify notebook PCs for your company, Hewlett-Packard understands the complexities you face in identifying a vendor and a set of products that meet your end-user and business needs. That's why HP is committed to deliver a comprehensive notebook PC family that meets both sets of requirements.HP Omnibook 6100 notebook PC with Intel Mobile Pentium III processor - M offers reliability, integrated wireless connectivity, compatibility and low cost of ownership IT departments require, plus the performance, expandability, portability, and ergonomics customers are demanding - in an easy-to-use notebook PC for highly competitive businesses.Amazon.com
Like its workhorse laser printers, HP's notebooks can be all business. The HP Omnibook 6100 offers just the kind of feature combination that business buyers will appreciate--it doesn't splurge on multimedia-oriented extras, and keeps weight to a level that maintains the notebook's portability. The laptop is powered by a Pentium III processor running at 933 MHz, coupled to 128 MB of RAM (expandable to a full gigabyte), and it has a 14.1-inch screen that offers plenty of room to work. But rather than a CD-RW or DVD drive, the Omnibook includes a read-only CD-ROM drive, and its hard disk drive is just 10 GB. That's enough to install applications and manipulate corporate data; only folks who are swapping graphics and MP3s are likely to need more. Of course, the notebook includes a modem and Ethernet support, and it comes with the business-oriented Windows 2000, rather than the consumer-oriented Windows Me.Customer Reviews:
Awsome!!.......2002-04-03
Omnibook 6100.......2001-12-20
Why 4 not 5 stars? Because of a couple of things: 1st; beware, the screen gets very dim on battery. But one can adjust that using the HP display settings. 2nd, no built-in firewire port but a PC card adapter can be used. 3rd, the screen resolution is a little more difficult for me to see the fonts and icons but that's easily adjusted too. Photos will look wonderful when I scan them in.
Important advice: don't press the edge on either side of the screen to tilt it back use the tougher plasic at the top edge.
None of these minor complaints make me regret buying it. I do highly recommend getting it.
