Ideal for business users with a range of needs, the Tecra 8000 series can serve as a mainstream portable or desktop replacement capable of handling the most demanding applications. Based on its flexible hardware design, the Tecra 8000 series has one motherboard that supports Intel's Mobile Pentium II 266MHz, 300MHz processor or 366MHz processor. Delivering performance typically reserved for high-end desktop systems, all Tecra 8000 models offer high-speed SDRAM memory, expandable to 256MB. Graphics intensive multimedia applications are easily handled by 2.5MB of integrated video memory and NeoMagic's new high-speed 256-bit integrated graphics and video accelerator. The ultimate in flexibility and modularity, the Tecra slim SelectBay supports the floppy disk drive, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, optional secondary hard disk drive (6.4 billion byte), or optional secondary battery. The Tecra 8000's single platform design reduces the total cost of ownership through reduced support costs due to standardized and interchangeable components. Previous slim SelectBay devices, such as CD-ROM drives and second batteries, can be used in the new Tecra 8000 series protecting customers' investment in these options. The new hardware design uses a single motherboard, eliminating the IT managers' need to requalify systems when new CPUs are introduced. Toshiba continues to provide the industry's most consistent docking stations and port replicators to protect their customers' investments. The new Tecra 8000 series is compatible with Toshiba's existing Desk Station V Plus docking station and Enhanced Port Replicator II, which have supported the Tecra series for the last two years. The Tecra 8000 notebooks are also compatible with the Enhanced Port Replicator III with an adaptor, which supports the Satellite Pro series.
