With a color screen, a speakerphone, built-in games, and changeable faceplates, the Nokia 2600 is an entry-level phone with features often found in much more expensive handsets. Compact and easy to use, the 2600 makes a great companion, and it's the perfect complement to Tracfone prepaid wireless service.

Design
The 2600 follows the tried and true Nokia candybar style with an internal antenna. The 128 x 128 color display boasts 4096 colors. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad. Detachable color faceplates are available for the front and rear of the handset so you can dress up your 2600 to suit your mood. A standard hands-free headphone jack is also provided.

Calling Features
The 2600's built-in address book can store up to 200 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers. Choose from up to 34 built-in ringers, plus 5 additional, downloadable ringtones. There's also a vibrating alert for when you want to be discreet. You can even create your own custom ringers with the included ringtone composer. Plus, a built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk hands-free. The 2600 ships with a number of handy Tracfone services, including free voice mail, free caller ID, and free call waiting. And perhaps most importantly, the integrated TracFone Airtime Balance Display shows you how much airtime you've used and how much is left, so you can control your costs.

Messaging and Tools
If you need basic messaging capabilities, the 2600 has you covered as support is built-in for sending and receiving SMS text messages. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built-into the unit-- a plus for text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the 2600 including a calendar, a calculator with spreadsheet functions, and an alarm clock. The 2600 lets you carry these tools wherever you go so you can create appointments and view your schedule at a moment's notice.

Entertainment
The 2600 has plenty of fun built in, thanks to an assortment of built-in games. You'll get Mobile Soccer, Bounce, and Nature Park to help you pass the time during your commute on the train or the bus!

I have owned a Tracfone for 3 years with OK service which included lots of "no service" areas across the US. This month they stopped serving my Nokia phone without notifying me. After trying to use the phone I called their customer service tech reps and after 1 solid hour on the phone they told me that due to age they were no longer servicing that phone. I will have to buy a new phone and a $20 activation card before they will transfer my 852.5 minutes (worth $130) to the new phone.
Their service reps are from Columbia and Bolivia and they hung up on me twice when I insisted on talking to someone from the US.
I don't want to purchase a new phone plus 20 minutes and then have them cancel my service again???

I love this phone. It has replaced my contracted service and it performs just as well. Reception is just as well as with my contracted service (actually better). It has a color screen and many features. Tracfone is good for those who do not use their cell phones alot. We just couldn't justify a monthly bill when I couldn't even use up the minutes every month.

Pros: It is a good prepaid service. The signal is better compared to my old T-mobile at Boston....

Cons: You have to input 4 long codes to activate it. I would suggest you to activate it on web instead of calling the 800 number. Make sure you select correct home area when you activate the service. Otherwise it will cost 2 units per minutes.

My wife has a prepaid cellphone through Tracfone. She loves the service too. It works great for her (good reception & rates). I kept borrowing hers when I would travel. I'm not a big talker at all so prepaid is great. I coach ice hockey and am travelling so much this time of year. With the crazy weather and hours I keep she wanted me to get my own. I guess I did hold old long enough (lol)

Their website is easy to navigate. Setup took about 1/2 hour. Rates vary depending upon coupon codes and referals....
