I've had this Hard Drive for a year now, and I've never had any problems with it at all. I just use it as extra storage space in addition to my computer's internal HD. Plugs in via USB, very simple to use. I noticed other reviews complaining about the temperature of it; I've never had a problem with that. It's been behind my desk on the floor in a relativley contained and unventilated space and the case never gets hot at all. I'd definetly recommend this item or any Seagate drive.

I bought this drive for backing up data on my Windows PC. I've only had it a couple of days ... so far so good. There were no problems connecting it to my PC following the quick setup guide. I decided to re-partition the drive from FAT32 to NTFS because of the 4GB file size limit with FAT32. I followed the instructions on the Seagate web site and re-partitioned the entire drive as NTFS. I haven't had any problems reading from or writing to the drive. I've done a lot of writing to it while trying out different backup programs.
The drive is fairly quiet but every once in a while it makes noise like there is some kind of disk access going on, even when nothing is trying to access it. The case feels warm but not hot after being on 48 hours. I plan on keeping it on all the time for automated backups so I expect it to be able to handle 24/7 usage.
So far it seems to be a great external drive, especially for the price I paid.

All of my drives--internal and external--are made by Seagate. I have yet to have a problem with them. My only disappointment with this one is that there is no Firewire port. It is only USB 2.0.
