Poor quality product despite great concept.......2007-04-09

if you shop around you can find this product for $10. There's a reason for this - the durability and reliability of this product is abysmal. Within one week of owning, the drive has started to fail - when my portable 2.5" has surivived transatlantic flights - this cant survive the Chicago El.

Don't waste your time with this product - buy a 2.5" drive with a decent enclosure and save yourself time, effort and data

I'm the type of person who see's a movie regardless of the terrible review's from the critic. As well as this product selection. I chose this product based on price and necessity of a portable. I know there are a number of drives out there. I am familiar with SimpleTech and knowing they stand behind their product I bought one. Right out of the box it ran fine, and has been ever since. This is my second drive product from SimpleTech, I'm sure there will be a third.

Dont buy this drive!!!.......2007-02-19

I would give it 'O'! stars if I could. I had it less then a month, carried it home in my pocket from school one night with all my school files so i wouldnt have to lug my laptop home thaat one night. Tried to open it and had the same problem others have mentioned here. If it is going to hve a rotating disk it should have a beefer housing to protect it.

Drive crashes and you loose your data.......2006-12-19

The drive is small with lots of storage and not expensive compared to flash.
I bought this drive and used it for a couple of months until it crashed on a crucial day when I needed the data the most. SimpleTech was good enough to replace the drive and I was aprehensive of using it at first. But since it was just lying around I decided to use it and lol after a couple of months it the new drive also crashed. I am tired of this. Better get a flash drive and not a hard drive.

Great Idea, Poor Implementation.......2006-02-23

I purchased this drive from Costco two days ago. It worked great the first night and I loaded it up with files. The next day at work the drive refused to function. The blue LED would come on for a few seconds then turn off. This cycle would repeat forever.

I called the SimpleTech Tech Support number and their technician informed me that the drive was dead. He stated that because the drive has a rotating platter it must be treated very carefully. He also informed me that you MUST use the "safely remove hardware" function of Windows XP.

The technician actually suggested I return the device and look into portable notebook drives. Now I'm passing that information on to you.

I really wanted this device. It's very small and portable which is what I want. Unfortunately, it simply didn't work out for me.
