Amazon.com Product Description

With a megapixel camera, dual color displays, advanced voice-activated dialing, and support for Sprint's streaming video and music services, the Samsung MM-A880 is a feature-rich phone that can help make your mobile lifestyle easier, more convenient, and more fun.

<B>Design</B>
The A880 features a traditional clamshell design with a very large 176 x 220 color display and support for a whopping 262,000 colors -- plenty of room and color depth for video content. A full-color 80 x 96 supplementary display on the outside of the cover displays incoming call information, battery life, signal strength, graphics, photos and more. The camera unit is placed just above this display, as is an LED flash. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad. The phone also features a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets, or a stereo handsfree headset.

<B>Calling Features</B>
The A880's built-in address book can store up to 500 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and email addresses. The phone also comes with 29 built-in polyphonic ringtones plus a vibrating alert. You can match pictures with callers to identify them, making it easy to know who's calling without opening the phone. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to use the phone handsfree, while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names. Plus, voice features are speaker-independent, so there's no need to train the phone to respond to any one person's voice. And because the A880 features advanced voice recognition you can say the phone number you want to call digit-by-digit. Or say "status" and the phone will respond audibly with the current signal and battery strength, as well as the phone's coverage. Lastly, The A880's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911 (where available).

<B>Messaging, Internet, and Tools</B>
Because the A880 supports PCS Vision services, messaging features are robust. You can easily send and receive email, exchange text messages, or join a chat room. Support is built in for instant messaging clients from AOL, MSN and Yahoo!, so you're never out of touch when you can't make a call. Using the phone's video and still camera, you can take advantage of Sprint PCS Vision video and picture mail services. Plus, with Sprint TV you'll enjoy full-color video clips or live TV of the latest news, sports, and entertainment from CNN, Fox, The Weather Channel, and more. If that's not enough, you can also get streaming music from every genre delivered right to your phone.

PCS Vision mobile Web services also let you check out sports scores, get your seven-day forecast, check your flight status, and stay up to date with the latest news. Experience full-color graphic versions of popular Web sites or purchase and download premium applications, games, ringers, and screensavers to your phone. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built-into the unit-- a plus for mobile web and messaging users.

The A880 lets you work on the go with an integrated calendar, appointment scheduler, and a to-do list. The phone also includes a world clock, a voice memo recorder, a calculator, a memo pad, a timer, and an alarm clock.

<B>Imaging and Entertainment</B>
Get ready to take great pictures with the A880's megapixel camera, which can shoot pictures at a maximum resolution of 1152 x 864 pixels. The camera also features an LED flash and a digital zoom, plus a self-timer and brightness and white balance controls. Integrated PictBridge support means that you can print your pictures instantly on a compatible printer using a USB data cable -- no PC or special software is needed.

As mentioned, the camera can also capture video that can be shared with your friends and associates via video messaging. The video unit records in MPEG4 format and can capture clips up to 15 seconds in length.

The A880 supports 3D Java-based games, as well as other 2D-based games, which are available from Sprint's PCS Vision service. You can also customize the phone's wallpapers and screensavers to give your A880 a look that suits your style.

<B>Vital Statistics</B>
The Samsung MM-A880 weighs 4.7 ounces and measures 3.35 x 1.73 x .93 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 198 minutes of digital talk time. It runs on the AMPS 850/CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

<b>What's in the Box</b>
A880 handset, standard lithium-ion battery, home charger, stereo headset.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars great phone.......2006-09-01

I bought this phone last october and i absolutely LOVED it! There could have been a little bit more memory, but I doubt that otehr people would have as many ringtones as i did. The first half of this review is for the phone, the second is for sprint service. My advice to you is that if you are already stuck with sprint, get this phone. It's cute and highly functional, works great, and has really cool extra features. My advice to customers who are considering sprint is to try another service because sprint is the absolute worst. I had verizon for a while and I liked their coverage area but damn they are expensive! Sprint's coverage area is virtually non-existant. At least in my area, I don't know about anywhere else, but definately in mine. It is pretty bad when you have to sit on a windowsil with your head leaned slightly to the right just so, just so you can get service. I havent even come to the best part. This was the best phone I have ever had. Well, I had an accident with it (dropped it in some drink concoction on new years). Not to worry, I had the insurance. Right? WRONG. Everyone was really nice to me at Sprint, but they didn't have my phone "in-stock" at the time and sent me a supposed "upgrade". I was so disappointed in the phone they sent me. They replaced my $300 phone with a $150 one. I hate the phone they sent me and I hate Sprint. Go somewhere else while you still can!!!

4 out of 5 stars Almost there =].......2006-04-20

This is an excellent cell phone. I have come to this phone from a sanyo pm 8200 and boy oh boy what an improvement! No more dropped calls, no more bad reception, and no more bad earpiece quality! The phone looks as great as it sounds. I love the two tone color that changes in the light from a very faint lavender to a silver. The keypad is also very nice, although it takes a bit of time to get used to (but what doesn't?) The phone also features noise cancellation which works very well by filtering out static and backround noise in the earpiece. The phone also has a great alarm system where you can schedule it once and never worry about it again. The speakerphone is full duplex so it can play multiple people's voices. The video camera and camera quality are very good and they are MEGAPIXEL also the flash and video light are nice. The only cons are that the screensaver cannot extend across the whole screen if they are from third party, the speakerphone has no dedicated key, the sub lcd and main lcd must have the same backround, and the flash changes into one color for alerts (minor). However the screensaver can be set to a clip which I find is very cool. Oh, and the battery life is phenomenal and the phone is quick as in deleting files takes no longer than a second. I'm turning 14 but please dont write off this review, I know my technology ;] Feel free to check my wishlist :D

5 out of 5 stars Love it!.......2006-02-12

I have had this phone for quite a while and and I couldn't be happier. The battery lasts forever, even on one bar, It has a different color without being to obnoxious, The camera and video take amazing pictures for a phone and it has a bunch of neat, little nifty extras included. The only thing I would add to this phone would be a calendar. There isn't one, well, isn't one you can go to. You can set one as your foreground, but thats about it. But I love it.

1 out of 5 stars Sprint - terrible customer service.......2006-02-03

I wd give this one -10 stars!!

I had sprint for ~2 and 1/2 years - that too forced... every time I would want to add something to my plan - they would upgrade the contract - without informing me that they would be doing so....

Then I started getting charged for "premium text messaging" avg ~$15 extra a month - repeated efforts to block the spam sender went unheard... all these extra charges inspite of no text messaging enabled on my phone.

I went through 5 Customer Service agents(excluding 2 in the store who were completely clueless) till i finally got one of them to block these (even now I dont trust that its been done) - that too after threatening to disconnect the service.
I am so exasperated that I am terminating the service and changing my # - as I would rather pay extra $150 to do that than go through this BS again...
Not only this - but i keep getting blank calls with no caller id @ 3am - and have heard several sprint customers go through this problem too...

Even Cingular (had 2 yrs of their crap)is better!!!

Now am trying T-Mobile - who atleast have the same deals with only a yr's contract - so far so good!!!
