Amazon.com Product Description

The LG PM-225 has all the basic features you could want; dual color screens, a built-in speakerphone and support for Sprint's PCS Vision services. But there's more. The PM-225 also sports a VGA camera that, when used with PCS Vision picture mail services, opens up a whole new world of messaging fun.

Design
The PM-225 follows the tried and true clamshell form factor with an internal antenna design that makes it easier to slide the phone in and out of your pocket or purse. The large 128 x 160 color screen features support for 65,000 colors, while a smaller 96 x 64 color display on the front cover displays pictures, incoming call information, battery and signal strength, the time and date, and more. The phone's center selection button allows you to control the phone's menus and features, and a 2.5 mm headphone jack provides compatibility with most handsfree headsets.

Calling Features
The PM-225's built-in address book allows you to assign up to 500 entries, each storing up to five numbers, for a total phone book capacity of up to 2500 numbers, and up to 500 email and Web addresses. You can customize your caller ID by linking a downloaded image or photo to a specific phone number in your phone book. Meanwhile, the phone includes 18 melodic ring tones and 12 traditional ring tones, plus a vibrating alert for those times when you want to be discreet. The handy speakerphone makes it easy to talk to callers without having the phone to your ear, while a voice dialing feature makes it possible to call your contacts by simply speaking their names.

The PM-225's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911 (where available). And, perhaps most importantly for users in rural areas, the PM-225 is a tri-mode phone, meaning it can operate on Sprint's digital PCS network, as well as analog networks that serve many outlying areas.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
Because the PM-225 supports PCS Vision services, messaging features are robust. You can easily send and receive email, exchange text messages, or join a chat room. Support is built in for instant messaging clients from AOL, MSN and Yahoo!, so you're never out of touch when you can't make a call. As mentioned, the PM-225 also supports PCS Vision picture messaging, which lets you take a picture anytime and send it to family and friends instantly while on the PCS network.

PCS Vision mobile Web services also let you check out sports scores, get your seven-day forecast, check your flight status, and stay up to date with the latest news. Experience full-color graphic versions of popular Web sites or purchase and download premium applications, games, ringers, and screensavers to your phone. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built-into the unit-- a plus for mobile web and messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the PM-225, including an alarm clock, a calendar with a scheduler, a calculator (with a tip calculator), and a world clock. You'll also get a voice recorder with up to three minutes of recording time.

Imaging and Entertainment
Use the VGA (640 x 480) camera to take shots of your friends and surroundings wherever you roam. The camera features white balance and brightness controls, as well as a self-timer. The PM-225 supports game downloads so you can pass the time while you're on the bus or the train. Meanwhile, you can customize the look of your phone with a selection of themes and skins for the phone's interface.

Vital Statistics
The LG PM-225 weighs 3.35 ounces and measures 3.53 x 1.76 x .93 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 150 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the AMPS 850/CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

What's in the Box
PM-225 handset, AC battery charger, lithium-ion battery, user's manual.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Eh, it's a phone.......2007-05-17

For someone like myself, who goes out, parties all the time and gets tipsy and pretty much throws their phone around, it will suit you well. I am very tough on phones refuse to buy a jillion dollar Nextel, but this one has lasted. I usually go through them in about 3 months but this one has been going strong for seven!

Negatives:
-TERRRRRIBLE battery (I'm sure you've noticed that in ALL the feedback)

-I waste my batteries and my picture space because I am constantly hitting the camera while it's in my purse or pocket. It stinks when you have a second to take an amazing pic and your memory is full because of that stupid button.

-Not enough memory ~ I can never save pics that friends send me

Like I said, eh, it's a phone

2 out of 5 stars If it wasn't for the battery..........2007-04-24

I loved this phone the entire first year I had it, but in a world of two-year phone contracts this phone just doesn't cut it. This phone destroyed the battery, which pretty much has to be plugged in all the time now. Also, as a previous reviewer stated, the backlight comes in and out making it very hard to read the screen. I am very dissapointed despite how much I love the design.

3 out of 5 stars Lg CG 225 good phone but bad battery and poor memory(Cingular Version)-black.......2007-03-12

This is nice little phone. It's completly black and small. It has a lot of features similar to the Lg pm 225 but since amazon doesn't carry this cingular version of the lg cg 225 I will write a review on it.The camera takes good pictures. It has a nice looking lcd clock on the front which you can lite up with the buttons on the side. The signal is pretty good in a building. The speaker phone sounds ok.The phone does have problems like the sprint version thou.

1)Battery charge only last a day and my phone is brand new.It states that the standby time is 10 days but no.Once you leave it on a couple of hours the battery starts to dip below the full mark and by the end of the day it's almost drained.

2)Memory is too low.It won't let me download over 2 ringtones.

3)The backlit keys arn't as bright as the samsung 427m but they get the job done is a movie theater.

4)No earphone jack to plug in a handset for driving but the speaker phone substitutes for this.I put the phone on my car seat after turning on the speaker and the person can hear me without me having to hold the phone.

Pros
1)Lcd clock on the front of the phone elimates the need to open it to see the time and it even lites up by hitting the switch on the side.

2)Speaker phone

3)Camera takes good pictures

4)It's small compared to the samsung 427m.

5)Signal quality is ok in buildings better then my previous phone was.

3 out of 5 stars Good sound quality, but everything else is so-so.......2007-02-06

My mobile phone is my only phone, so I rely pretty heavily on it. In the year I've used it, it has never failed to give good sound quality in both directions, even over the speakerphone. But beyond that, I'm lukewarm about this phone.

- I'm on my second battery. They start out strong, but dwindle quickly. I get maybe 60 paltry minutes of talk time on one charge now. I have chargers at home, in the car, and at work because I never know when I'll need one. I have had better battery reliability since I quit playing games on this phone.
- When the battery runs out during a call, you get little or no warning before the phone shuts off. It's extremely frustrating.
- When I carry the phone in my pocket and it rings, I almost always touch the buttons on the side accidentally as I retrieve it. This causes the display to read "Ringer Silenced," rather than showing me the caller ID.
- The camera takes blocky photos. I didn't sign up for Sprint's Internet service, thinking I'd pay the per-kilobyte fee to e-mail the photos to people. This effectively traps photos in the phone, because the network connection always goes down when I try to send them.

The phone works all right as a phone. Since that's 90% of why I want a phone, I can live with it. But if I had this to do over, I would have chosen something different.

3 out of 5 stars Good introductory phone.......2007-02-01

I got this phone through Sprint PCS. It was the best and cheapest choice for me. It is good looking, is relatively lightweight, and has all the standard features of today's phones, such as camera, internet etc. Though not a cutting edge, it has most features enough make it a good introductory phone for its price.

pros and cons:
+ Low price
+ Good introductory phone
- Average reception in indoors
- Average battery life (2 - 3 days)
- No Shortcuts to change ringing modes (High, med, low & vibrate)
