Works perfectly in Brazil, South America :).......2006-06-20
I decided to buy this cell phone model beacuse I tested several brands and models at a local cell phone store (in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and this one was the one that had the LOUDEST sound. Since I live in a very agitated city, where you can hardly hear the person speaking beside you when you are on foot on the street, I needed a cell phone which can handle the noise happening around you in a big city.
I tested several cell phones in the middle of a corridor of one of Rio's most busies malls, and this is the one that passed the test ! :)
As another poster already mentioned. It has everything a cell phone should have and nothing you don't need.
looks cool but kinda small.......2006-05-19
the phone's kind of pretty to me. I really like how it looks. However, the keypads are so tinny that I sometimes reach the wrong buttons. I've just received the phone and haven't spent much time on it, so I don't see any other problem.
I like the Sound&Picture file in its desktop because it has COMPOSER and RECORDER that I can personalize my phone with my own ringtones. So far, the functions of desktop's files work well.
Scine someone has complained about the weak signal in T290a, I tried to find out in the instruction book that because T290a has an internal antenna which located at the area of Sony Ericsson logo (the back), so when you hold the phone for a call, try not to cover the logo area. I assume this is the reason that may disrrupt or stop your calling.
In brief, I love the phone. Although my T-mobile contract is almost over, and they offer me many great discounts to upgrade new handsets, I disregarded it for my T290a in Amazon. Hope these help!!!
everything a phone should be and nothing it should'nt........2006-04-06
this is quite a decent little phone. after cingular wanted to jab me in the eye with another 2 year contract to replace my wife's broken and out dated phone (it was less than a year old by the way) I did some research and found this little nugget of frugality. the signal is clear, phone is tiny and screen is clear. And in addition no extended contract or $150.00 upgrade to a cingular endorsed phone. If you want to talk and kill a couple of minutes with it's games this is a great little phone.
great product slim design, could use a better screen though.......2006-03-24
great phone, actually worked with my at&t sim card before it was cingular, friends think its really cool although it does lack today bells and whisltes good fone just to have as a replacement
A good basic phone.......2006-03-10
It does everything I need it to do, its not the first SE phone I've had. Three things keep it from being better:
1: The screen is not very bright - almost impossible to read in daylight - I've noticed this is a problem with all SE phones; if you like a nice bright display in a cheap phone get an LG
2: The buttons are tiny - hard to hit with my fat fingers
3: No camera - I've gotten used to having them in my phones
Good Battery Life - Good fringe reception - good basic phone
