I had the cell phone in very good condition, but one thing I wanted in the same color in the adviresemnet, but I had it in another color. it's o.k for me,but I like that color so much
Excellent Cell.......2006-03-13
This was an excellent purchase. The phone works great and I love being able to take pictures whenever I want.
Okay, with some issures.......2006-02-07
I liked teh z500 because it had a nice GUI. the screen clarity is amazing, and the GUI takes advantage of the high-res display. however, there were a few shortcomings about the cell phone i didnt like. First, while it had a great display, the camera on it was shoddy and low-quality, even in daytime lighting. second, the power cable, clearly designed to keep from accidentally unplugging, requires a bit of force to put in. call me paranoid, but i dont want to feel like im forcing the power cable into the phone. in addition, the gunmetal finish scratches off easily. on the plus side, the faceplates are easy to change, and the wallpaper options on the phone are nice, also. if you want a cheap, attractive phone, then this is a nice choice. if you want a technological powerhouse, this phone boasts a decent 8MB of built-in memory and EDGE technology, but no bluetooth. also, data cable sold seperately, :-( also, beware the loudspeaker. its not loud at all.
as an alternative, i reccomend the Nokia 6102 phone, at around the same price. it lacks a high-resolution display, but the camera is superior and it offers more out-of-the-box features. the button layout on the nokia is also more convenient, although it takes a few days to get used to. both phones will allow you to record a sound and use it as your ringtone.(you'll need a headset to take advantage of the nokia's FM Radio feature, though)
Cool, high-quality phone with EDGE support.......2006-01-25
Chalk me up as a happy user of the Sony Ericsson Z500a flip phone. It works great as a phone -- great voice clarity, nice reception, easy to hold and use -- and it's stylish. The buttons are a bit small but not a problem as with some phones. You get a built-in VGA camera -- okay, nothing to write home about but it takes decent pics for a camera phone. What's more, the Z500a is a triband, world-use phone, so you can take it to Europe and Asia and still be connected.
The coolest thing, though, is EDGE. Ok, I'll be honest, I haven't tried it out yet. My experience is limited playing with demo EDGE-enabled phones at electronics shows. But if you are into high-speed cell-based Internet, this is for you. You can get EDGE service for something like $50-$60 a month for unlimited data access. The Z500a has an Internet button to get you online quickly. From demos I've seen, the speed is amazing.
The main LCD screen is large an bright and shows vibrant colors. The external LCD is small but usable -- and if you have a flip phone that doesn't have an external LCD you are missing out on a lot. The phone itself is stylish and compact, and the face plate can be changed to your liking.
In short, this is a very solid cell phone with full 3G support via EDGE. It's a good value even if you just use as an everyday phone.
doesn't even deserve 1 star.......2005-12-24
The big problem is it freezes. Screen goes blank - lit up actually, but blank - and stays that way until you power it off and on again. While it's frozen, no calls can be received - it is completely nonfunctional, but ... and this is the good part (sarcasm) the battery goes dead within a matter of minutes. So, you've got a freshly charged battery, which normally would last for 3 or 4 days (depending on usage), and you head out, and take out your phone and ... surprise ... frozen, or worse, battery completely dead. If it was frozen, the amount of battery life left will depend on how long it was frozen.
My wife has the same phone and doesn't have this problem, but I've read complaints from others who do. Replacing the sim card doesn't help.
