The Touch Sensor shutter button, meanwhile, brings your subject into focus with a mere touch of the shutter button. You'll be able to capture more of those sudden photo opportunities, and there'll be less chance of blurriness.
The Xacti S6 employs our original image-processing technology in the form of the SANYO proprietary engine. With this technology, pixel-conversion of recorded images is possible, as are a nine-point area AF and high-speed response. One benefit of the SANYO proprietary engine is a more flattering rendition of facial complexion.
Real-Time Interpolation for Superb Resolution
Our original algorithm uses three pixel-interpolation filters to convert the CCD's 6.0 effective megapixels to the recorded equivalent of 10.2 megapixels. This means you're able to print out a detailed image very clearly, even on A3-sized paper.
With the Touch Sensor Shutter Button, YouÌll Never Miss Another Photo Opportunity
A finger touch on the shutter button immediately activates the focus on the world's first Touch Sensor shutter button. On conventional models, the auto-focus is activated by pressing the shutter button halfway, to bring the subject into focus. The image is then captured by continuing to press the shutter button all the way down. Because the focus on the Xacti S6 is activated by just a light touch of the finger on the shutter button, it's a cinch--you won't miss a sudden photo opportunity. Point the camera and touch the shutter button--a Touch Sensor signal and a beep let the user know that the subject is in focus. After that, a gentle press of the shutter button captures the scene.

The Xacti S6 puts up to 12x zoom power at your fingertips, with its high-quality 3x optical zoom lens and 4x digital zoom.
Zoom Jump View--Easily Check Recorded Images
Immediately after your image is captured, it is displayed at enlarged size on the LCD, so you can easily check sharpness and clarity. The proper zoom ratio is automatically selected, based on the shooting resolution you choose.
2.0-Inch LCD Enables Clear Viewing Outdoors
The Xacti S6 comes with a high-quality 2.0-inch panel. This amorphous silicon TFT LCD enables easy viewing, even under direct sunlight.
Sequential Shooting
The Xacti S6 can shoot a sequence of 5 shots at 1.3 fps. In AE Shift mode it even changes the exposure setting automatically as consecutive shots are taken.
Nine-point area AF for improved focus
With the newly developed 9-point range finder AF, the conventional 5-point focus (center, upper, lower, left, right) is supplemented by an additional four points (lower left, upper left, lower right, upper right). Thus, a total of nine area focus points are used to automatically determine the focus.
Record cherished memories easily and beautifully
Sequential Shooting with AE Shift makes it easy to take otherwise difficult shots--for example, shots into the sun or through a window. Scene Select automatically selects the most suitable shooting mode, while the digital filter brings out more expressiveness from people's faces. With these functions, your cherished memories are captured easily and beautifully.
Self-portrait mirror--handy for self-portrait shots
A small mirror on the front of the camera helps you shoot fun and memorable self-portrait shots Û and your friend can get in the picture, too.
Natural-looking video clips (no audio)
The Xacti S6 shoots video clips at 320 x 240 or 160 x 120 resolution and at 15 frames per second, for natural-looking motion. The moving pictures are recorded in the QuickTime Movie (Photo-JPEG) format for easy editing.
Compatible with AA alkaline batteries--rest assured on long journeys
If your battery runs out unexpectedly, you needn't worry. Simply use AA alkaline batteries, which you can pick up easily from any convenience store. You also have the more economical option of shooting with rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries.
15 MB built-in memory, so shooting is possible even without a memory card
The Xacti S6 comes with 15 MB built-in memory, so even if a memory card is full, it's still possible to save new images or transfer selected images between a memory card and the internal memory. For example, you can easily store your favorite images in the on-board memory.
PictBridge compatibility enables Direct Printing of beautiful images--No PC required
Simply connect the Xacti S6 to a PictBridge-compatible printer and you can print photographs without using a computer.

This allows you to display thumbnails, manage your still-image and video-clip files, and retouch images. If you connect the Xacti S6 to a Windows PC, the Wizard guide is initiated automatically to facilitate image saving.
Motion Director SE 1.1
The Xacti S6 package also includes high-precision software that compensates for camera shake. Along with that, there's an option for automatically composing panorama pictures from video clips shot through a horizontal or vertical plane.
QuickTime 6.5
With the Xacti S6, you can create QuickTime movies compatible with both Windows and Macintosh OS. Unlike with a DV camera, you don't need to convert the recording format. Movies are recorded in the QuickTime Movie (Photo-JPEG) format so you can load and play them directly on your PC.
