The printer produces printouts at a rate of 8ppm in full color and in black and white, at a resolution of 600x600 dpi. Color quality is enhanced still further by color profiles and screens from Heidelberg, an expert in the color-printing field. The OkiColor 8n has a paper capacity of 600 sheets, which is expandable to 1,100 sheets. It prints on letter and legal sized paper, as well as on transparencies, index stock, and other media. Okidata has even added a variety of fonts for printing flexibility. Included are 138 Adobe PostScript fonts, 45 PCL scalable fonts, 10 TrueType fonts, and 4 PCL bitmap fonts. This printer has a duty cycle of up to 25,000 pages per month. The OkiColor 8n comes with 64MB RAM, which can be upgraded to 144MB, and it supports Windows 98, 95, 3.1x and NT 4.0. It uses an IEEE-1284 bi-directional parallel interface, with PCL 5c, and a genuine Adobe PostScript 3 emulation. The OkiColor 8n comes with a 10/100 Base-T print server, which connects workgroups in Peer-to-Peer, Windows NT 4.0, Novell NetWare, and Macintosh environments.
