Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Provocative, appealing and controversial.......2006-08-02
Fomenko has succeeded to convincingly demonstrate the misconception about what "history" factually is... It is fiction and -like we can read and judge for ourselves- no science. It indeed is "make belief" only. I "discovered" Fomenko while studying the "old" history of Al Andaluz, Spain. Having found too many contradictions in available data, having seen too many forgeries as to pretend the importance of christianity for its decline, I ventured out to find Fomenko, who convinced me that we know little if anything for sure of the epoch before the XI-century. However, the integration of the Arabic-Islamic cultural history into the heavily distorted Western fails... There are some attempts to fit "the budding new religion" (Islam) into Fomenko's scheme, but they are too weak to be taken seriously and too often focussing on Turkey as the region where things started to influence the West, which is untrue at all.
Islam certainly was no "new religion" in the X-century. That the highly cultivated Al Andaluz ruler Mohammed-I could have been "mirrored" down in time into some myth about the "illiterate" founder of Islam itself is highly speculative. Nevertheless, Fomenko convinces me about the processes that were involved in forging a christian history. Intriguing and controversial as his books are, I recommend them as to rethink our current position in time and space and simply verify what was claimed. It is a "good" book, but not for bedtime reading... Mundus vult decipi, the world wants to be cheated. Fomenko's readers will understand why.
pharaohs lived in the 3rd century AD.......2006-02-16
Traces of white wine were found in Tutankhamen's tomb however there were no record of white wine in Egypt until the 3rd century AD, 1600 years after the young pharaoh died according to the traditional chronology. http://www.newscientist.com/channel/being-human/mg18925395.400
It can be interpreted as a contribution towards New Chronology theory that pharaohs lived in the 3rd century AD.

Book Description
Since 1914 Cambridge has published The Elements of New Testament Greek, a best-selling textbook for scholars and students of the Bible. The original book by H.P.V. Nunn was replaced and succeeded in 1965 by J.W. Wenham's book of the same title. Jeremy Duff has now produced a new book to continue this long-established tradition into the twenty-first century. This pack contains that book and the accompanying audio CDs. The book provides a step-by-step approach to learning Greek with each step clearly explained and reviewed using questions and exercises. Lessons are arranged so the most important aspects of Greek are learnt first and the vocabulary consists of the most commonly occurring words in the New Testament.

Customer Reviews:
It would be better with the accents........2007-04-30
I have some experience in studying Koiné Greek, and I find Jeremy Duff's book a good review for me because He teaches some concepts in complete categories. For example, In his chapter on the subjunctive mood, he gives this overview with examples of the instances when Koiné writers used the subjunctive mood:
* Indefinite clauses: whoever, wherever, whenever...
* Purpose clauses: in order that...
* Exhortations: Let's...
* Deliberations: What shall I...?
* Prohibitions: Don't...!
* Emphatic negative future: I will never...
He discusses in a similar way participles, complex sentences, conjunctions, prepositions, the perfect tenses, and so forth. This is an effective way of reviewing these topics. This book also offers copious sentence exercises for practicing these constructions.
The only part of his method that I do not enjoy or approve of is the lack of accents. In spite of the engaging way that this book presents Greek, I have difficulty pronouncing words that I do not already know because they have no accents. Mr. Duff states that "the accents are not taught in this book for three important reasons:
* Accents were not present in written Greek in the New Testament period.
* The rules of accentuation are complicated, and you have enough to learn.
* Accents don't help you translate or understand Greek."
Actually, the accents have always been helpful to me for memorizing vocabulary; they indicate which syllable to stress. Knowing where to put the stress on a word helps me to remember the word and to pronounce it. This is important for conjugating verbs and for declining nouns because verbs and some nouns change their stress as they are inflected. The accents have always been a help to me--never a hindrance. Moreover, I have never seen a Greek bible text without accents. New Testament and Septuagint texts always indicate accents. So do the writings of the Christian fathers. I imagine that a neophyte to Koiné Greek may well feel frustrated while trying to pronounce Greek words without the accents.
Otherwise, Elements of New Testament Greek is an engaging and enjoyable book.
Delivers Promise.......2007-01-19
As stated in the book on page 1, the aim of the book is "To help you learn enough Greek to read the New Testament." Without a teacher, I worked through the chapters and did the all of the "A" exercises at the end of each chapter. After completing all of the chapters, I am happy to say I can read the New Testament, not perfectly, mind you, but with the help of a dictionary and Duff's book I can get through just about any passage.
I found the explanations clear and consise and I never felt overwhelmed or lost as I have with some other texts.
Thanks, Jeremy
Good approach, but needs a second, corrected printing to be issued soon.......2006-09-28
I'd like to be able to give this grammar a '5' rating, but that may have to wait until after the next printing. I have studied and taught foreign languages, and so I feel qualified to say that Duff's approach to teaching Koine Greek is sound. He presents the grammar in a logical order and builds concepts one upon another as a good grammar should do for the beginning student. Unfortunately, there are several problems with the book: 1) There are far too many errors, even for a first printing; vital items are at times omitted from some of the grammar charts, which obviously makes learning those concepts correctly a difficult task. I'm not saying that Duff is incorrect, but that the book was carelessly edited. 2) There are some things to which Duff does give short shrift (for example, he mentions 'attraction' with relative pronouns in a small footnote as if it were unusual; however, 'attraction' is actually the norm in such cases and is an important concept to understand). 3)the website with "useful helps" seems to have been abandoned; there are some useful PowerPoint slides which can be downloaded (and some links to other sites are given), but there are no additional exercises or other materials as promised on the back cover of the book. I can only assume that this book was rushed to print since there are so many editing errors and the website is incomplete. Still, in spite of my criticisms, I believe this could be a good beginning grammar; I hope to see the errors corrected and the website completed so that it will become just that.
Addendum: The accompanying CD's are excellent helps for the beginning student of Koine Greek; for any student who does purchase this book, I highly recommend buying the version of the book that comes with the CD's.
VERY GOOD BUT NOT AN IMPROVEMENT.......2006-01-04
This is a very good Greek grammar, but it is not better than the second edition. The second edition is visually laid out better. The second edition noun and verb chart layouts at the end of the book are visually easier to read.
The third edtion should have followed the second edition layout and outline more closely.
The practise exercises and examples are excellent in the third edition.
The vocabulary layout in the back of the third edition is better than the second edition.
I would say that the third edition may need the help of a teacher more than the second edition.
I learned from the second edition and may be prejudiced.
Conclusion: The new third edition is better than any other grammar I have read but it is not better than the second edition. They are both excellent.
Combine the best features of both editions and you would have a five star book.

Book Description
First published in 1965, The Elements of New Testament Greek has, over the years, established itself as the standard textbook for scholars and students of the Bible. The book is now reissued with a number of small revisions and additions, and a more substantial change concerning the recitation of the alphabet. Otherwise, the aim of this perennially popular book remains as before: to present the elements (and only the elements) of new Testament Greek as simply, clearly, and completely as possible, so that the student may be spared all unnecessary toil, and may make rapid progress in understanding the lingua franca of the Hellenistic world.
Customer Reviews:
Classic Wenham!.......2003-10-10
Despite the age of this book it is still an invaluable resource for anyone studying New Testament Greek. The way in which John William Wenham presents his teaching throughout this book has, in my and many others opinions, yet to be bettered, as has this book in general. A timeless classic, just one of many in John Wenhams extraordinary back catelogue of theological, educational, spiritual and autobiographical writings.
Not the best one to get.......2003-01-11
I started out with this book, which is used by many seminaries. But I now feel that "The Basics of Biblical Greek" by William D. Mounce is a much better book. Mounce has a much better and easier to learn system. He explains many things that are left unsaid by Wenham. The diagrams are better. The software included is great. The book is more readable and enjoyable. But it's always good to have more than one intro to Greek, I just don't think Wenham should be your first, get Mounce instead.
Excellent resource for Biblical Greek.......2000-06-14
Wenham's classic textbook doubles as a fine grammar for the simpler Koine of biblical Greek. A very well-organized text with an introductory refresher on English Grammar, it is one of the few affordable books on the subject that you will find not only useful but satisfying to boot.
The lack of accents is the only shortcoming of the text, though in fairness accents were absent in the ancient texts.

Book Description
Over the past century, academics and dramatists have noted that the Gospel of John displays similar characteristics to Greek dramatic literature. Dialogue and Drama presents a detailed and nuanced review from Jo-Ann Brant, a scholar well versed in the study of both Greek tragedy and the New Testament. She argues that the fourth evangelist was thoroughly familiar with the conventions of Greek drama and used them to more effectively present the Gospel's plot.
As in Greek tragedy, dialogue is the major form of action. The hero, Jesus, engages in verbal duels with his opponents in order to provoke a lethal contest, which culminates in his glorious death. Dialogue and Drama creates an accessible world for the audience and makes them witnesses of the tragedy, drawing readers into a corporate act of remembering.
Brant casts fresh perspective on the roles of the Jews, Peter, the women around Jesus, and the beloved disciple, proposing an alternative account of the evangelist's dualistic and polemical language and offering new approaches to aspects of the Gospel that have long puzzled readers and dominated scholarly debate. Scholars of literary Biblical criticism and students of drama will find in this text a thorough, engaging, and interdisciplinary study that answers questions left open by prevailing theories and opens new avenues of research yet to be explored.
"Dialogue and Drama is a raritysomething genuinely new in Johannine studies. As a literary critic must do, Brant focuses on form rather than content or context, and she provides convincing evidence of parallels between formal aspects of the Gospel of John and those of classical Greek tragedy. She clearly demonstrates how different John is from the Synoptics in this regard, especially in John's use of speech to create action. Always careful to avoid overstating her case, Brant presents a detailed and nuanced study that offers fresh means to explore the complexities and perplexities of the Fourth Gospel. Dialogue and Drama opens new vistas on John even for those who are not inclined to abandon the old ones." David Rensberger, Professor of New Testament, Interdenominational Theological Center, Atlanta
"Every student of antiquity knows the importance of drama in the cultural life of the Greeks and the Romans. Jo-Ann Brant has now demonstrated that the Fourth Evangelist was thoroughly familiar with the conventions of Greek drama, especially the tragedies. Marshalling the literature on both ancient drama and Johannine studies, and using the insights of structural theorists, she convincingly shows how dramatic conventions make sense of neglected or otherwise puzzling aspects of the Gospel. Readers will find rewarding insights into the functions of John's dramatis personae and the Gospel's often neglected discourses. Most important, we can now read the Gospel with greater sensitivity to the way it was originally heard." R. Alan Culpepper, Professor of New Testament and Dean, McAfree School of Theology, Mercer University
