This 1956 pop adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest is one of the best, most influential science fiction movies ever made. Its space explorers are the models for the crew of Star Trek's Enterprise, and the film's robot is clearly the prototype for Robby in Lost in Space. Walter Pidgeon is the Prospero figure, presiding over a paradisiacal world with his lovely young daughter and their servile droid. When the crew of a spaceship lands on the planet, they become aware of a sinister invisible force that threatens to destroy them. Great special effects and a bizarre electronic score help make this movie as fresh, imaginative, and fun as it was when first released.

desert island bebop recording.......2007-05-21

For fans of 1950's west coast bebop, this is a priceless recording. The musicianship is of course marvelous, but the sheer fun that shines forth through their playing is wonderful. This is jazz at it's "hippest". I own more than 1,500 LP's and CD's. This has to be one of my 5 favorites. I have listened to it hundreds of times. It never fails to please. BUY IT BEFORE IT IS OUT OF PRINT. You won't be disappointed.

If you love bop, then look no further!!!!!.......1999-05-04

This 1949 live album bops out ! The septet lineup features some of the real heavyweights of "bopdom". Aside from Charlie, there's Boots, Benny, Jackie & Roy. This particular recording is(GNP), is not the best however. The MCA/DECCA version of this same concert features tunes that knock me out. Jackie & Roys "I'm forever blowing bubbles", is a gas. If you can find the DECCA version, it 's well worth having. If not, you're sure to love the GNP version.
