Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Great, but no prize.......2002-03-31

The selections from the Ring trilogy, Friends in need and Fallen Angel were excellent, however, some of the special request such as joxer the mighty, seemed a little bit rushed. Wasn't that song on Volume 2 already? Where was M'Lila's song from Destiny, or the music played During the first Kiss in "The Quest"
The cd has its good points, personally "It's Over" from "THAB" with its haunting melodies portraying the consequences of war.

5 out of 5 stars Xena;Warrior Princess volume six.......2002-01-09

I am so happy that the last and final cd has come out, now my collection is complete. I am very sad for the show ending, but I am glad to still collect things.

5 out of 5 stars Great Collection.......2001-12-25

Well, I have them all by now, but this last one is a great collection, with the added bonus of the music from A Friend In Need.
Just another fine addition to my Xena collection!

5 out of 5 stars Exceptional.......2001-11-30

I am a fanatic and devoted Xenite.I have a huge problem:i can't stop listening to that cd,since the first time i listened to it,which means 1 month! That cd is really exceptional and i think that every true and genuine Xenite should buy it!It's really good!I was moved when i heard the Fallen Angel part.I was passioned when i heard the Ring Trilogy!I was astonishing when i heard the bonus cues that were included, especially the cue from The Quill Is Mightier(fishin part),oh,i was completely satisfied!
Though, there is a complain:i can't understand, why after 6 cd's,the producers don't do a cd including cues like:M'laila's song, the cues from the Bacchaen festival, music from Deja Vou All Over Again, where in the end,Gabrielle says to Xena those wonderful words,or even the scene of the kiss in The Quest! That,i can't understand it!
Last, i believe that whoever likes LoDuca's music style, should buy this cd.
Pay attention to the 22 cue:Pas De Deux Femmes. It is one of a something and whoever remembers what's the scene of this song, will agree with me!Mmmm!

4 out of 5 stars A MIX OF THE BEST, THE WORST AND THE MISSING.......2001-11-29

To all truly Xena fans this CD is a must-have but have some lacks... Fun (comedy episodes music) scores destroy the the great combination of FALLEN ANGEL, THE RHEINGOLD TRILOGY AND I FRIEND IN NEED. In the first selections LoDuca creates spectacular high level music good enough to be played in a Symphony orchestra concert. The others selections have easy-to-fill-space western cowboy music instead of put M'Lilas song of DESTINY, Amazon's climbing trees of ADVENTURES IN THE SIN TRADE and NAJARA vs XENA music that would be gladly accepted by us. I doubt the company will launch a next CD but if they'll do this track and another valuable more must be there and the adittion of some famous characters quotes like "I have many skills" from Xena.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful, melodic, exciting!.......2001-07-08

Resistance D continues to create brilliant, melodic, exciting techno for the new millenium. While other bands have lowered themselves to the sadly current standard of unlistentable experimentation, Resistance D has evolved further into a complex, accessible and, most importantly, musical style of trance.

A wonderful, brilliant cd that stands up to multiple listenings. Highly recommended.

              Album Description

In 2003, motivated by the love of simplistic and immediate "rawk'n'roll" and a healthy disrespect of reality tv mock stars, melbourne power popsters magneto crammed into a richmond rehearsal studio and wrote furiously. By the time the hallowed lights of the mcg filtered through the cracked plaster sound-proofing, they had a swag of tunes, of which 2 ended up on the lost weekend and planet of popboomerang compilations. Comprising vocalist john baxter, together with co-conspirator paul inglis on bass, who'd done time with john in alcotomic, guitarist extraordinaire michael snowball (groundswell) and the powerhouse skin thumper geoff barnes (p76), magneto was mercilessly thrown out of their comfort zone into the rough and tumble world of pop like a drunk on payday at closing time. 18 months after those initial sessions, comes the band's debut album 'resistance is futile'. Not afraid of wearing their influences on their sleeves, acts such as the stems, jellyfish, wall of voodoo, gaye bykers, cheap trick and johnny cash, has been integral to magneto's warm fuzzy blend of shimmering jazzmaster driven pop. popboomerang. 2006

              Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Way Too Average.......2006-03-18

The Brotherhood of Mutants, of Marvel Comics fame, being led by the great Magneto himself, wouldn't be able to put together an evil scheme that could get the people of earth to somehow believe that this CD is anything other than utterly mediocre. And that's saying a lot if one of the greatest foes of the vaunted X-Men couldn't change your mind about this band. It is because there is only so much average pop-rock that music listeners can handle and, with Resistance is Futile, Magneto (the band, not the supervillain) has pushed the envelope of pure blandness.

Magneto claim that they were brought together partially because of the band members' mutual interest in "rawk `n' roll", however, they certainly don't bring any of that rawk on this release. Now knowing that they're not exactly going to rock your socks off, might they not still be a decent pop-rock band? Sadly, even with tempered expectations, they really aren't.

As you quickly trek through this release, you'll be overcome by an overwhelming sense of simplicity, but not the "less is more" good kind. There are rarely any compelling moments to be found within the 11 tracks of Resistance is Futile. Some of the more inspired moments come when Magneto attempt to truly embrace their radio-crafted side and totally conform to already established pop-rock conventions. In these moments, however, there are no attempts to convey the image of a rock band, albeit all they would be able to portray is a band which, sadly, has lost their edge without realizing it. All you get is cookie-cutter clichés.

Take, for example, the song "Everything Has Gone". It starts out with a simple full band rock passage, followed by the first verse over a lone electric guitar, which segues into the full band meatiness of the first verse. Then, as you guessed, there is a crazily melodic, sing-a-long chorus, followed by another verse and then repetitions of the chorus (with a small guitar bridge thrown in for good measure) to end the song. This is the same formula that every radio pop-rock song has used for the last 15 years, if not more.

It's this total lack of variety and complete conformity to a worn out template that holds Magneto down. Like previously mentioned, they are at their best when they are abiding by pop-rock standards and conventions, which says something about their pedigree. There's a plethora of other great bands out there that should be given a listen before this.
