It's great to be a kid!.......2006-02-20

We purchased this music for use at my son's 4th birthday party. He is a huge Buzz Lightyear fan and this is the closest thing to Buzz Lightyear music we could find. We used it for a variation of the traditional musical chairs game and at other times had it playing in the background. The kids all got a kick out of it. Some tunes are upbeat and fun to dance to while others were a little more subdued which worked for us too. Now we have it in the car to listen to while running errands. Great for young and old.

Good Soundtrack.......2004-10-08

The James Dean Story is a documentary that was made in the 1950s. It's very dated and slow-paced by today's standards, of interest only to historian documentarians and james dean fanatics. The soundtrack, however, is a little more accesable. This album is full of bebop jazz, with impressive trumpet and piano work. The music sets a perfect tone for the type of music often associated with James Dean's era (the mid 1950s). Although Dean is often associated with youthful rebellion and rock and roll, he actually preferred classical music and jazz (which were still the most popular types of music in America at the time of his death).

It's hard to knock the hopelessly romantic--especially when, like your parents, they have their own national holiday. OK, this isn't even classical music, for the most part, despite the fact that some of the performers are associated with the classical repertoire. This is just another attempt to sell watered-down music to listeners with three-minute attention spans. Don't be fooled. If you're truly interested in classical music, don't buy this.
