Album Description
Dakini Lounge marks Indo-Jazz innovator Prem Joshua's first encounter with DJ science. Here, an eclectic collection of cutting edge mixologists including Karsh Kale, Sean Dinsmore (The Dum Dum Project), Joi and Dharma Dogz (of Waterbone) shed new light on Joshua's signature sound, translating his East-West alchemies into stunning dub, chill and dance floor masterworks.Prem Joshua has come a long way from the 18-year-old German rocker, mind blown by a Ravi Shankar performance, answering a mysterious call from a faraway place. While spending the better part of 20 years in India (where he has sold well over 50,000 records), Joshua has developed a unique musical style employing sitar, Indian flutes, saxophone, electronica and tarana-style singing that artfullyand skillfullybridges the gap between traditional Eastern sounds and Western jazz forms, prompting the Times of India to dub him "the new guru of East-West fusion music."
Dakini Lounge marks the next logical progression in Prem Joshua's storied career. Placing the master musician's songs in the able hands of these modern day studio mavens presents new interpretations and directions for the many listeners already in love with Prem Joshua's music while introducing him to an ever wider audience.

Goregous.......2007-04-03
When it comes to Chill, I seriously doubt any other person could match Mark Doyle when it comes to compliations. I'm a Dance/Electroncia addict and I listen to many complications from other labels. None of them compare. Very Highly Recommended.
A new chill CD from a master of the genre.......2007-03-29
However, some of the tracks are familiar. This is, of course, a function of the genre and the more chill out cds one owns the more compounded the problem gets. Still, I would recommend this disc to anyone.

Happy to finally have a soundtrack, but somewhat let down........2005-02-11
Just a personal opinion, but I was really hoping for some longer versions of the instrumental pieces from this movie as those were some of my favorite.
But I shouldn't complain. I'm just glad they finally offered this. Great for any big fan of this movie.
"soundtrack & a wonderful score ~ Patrick Williams".......2004-11-23
Some stand outs are "SHAME, SHAME, SHAME", featuring Johnny Winter from 1991..."I'VE GOT DREAMS TO REMEMBER", with Delbert McClinton from 1989..."FEELS LIKE FOREVER (theme from The Cutting Edge)", featuring Joe Cocker from 1992...three legends perform songs from their songbooks during the peak of their careers.
The film score duties were given to composer, arranger and big band extraordinare Patrick Williams...more than capable to reflect the times with blends of '80s hard rock "BATTLE OF THE CDs"...then we fall back into the '40s with early big band "CHICAGO PRACTICES"...we're off to the Russian dances with a wonderful arrangement and performance of "THE RUSSIANS SKATE"...get ready for the disco trend setters with "FINALE"...each cue stands alone with Williams at the helm.

Two Classic Christian Rock Albums.......2007-03-30
One drawback between some albums by the same artist is that there often is a formula. There is that pattern with these two projects. Both start off with a well orchestrated rocker ("Isabel" and "Runnin' To Win"), followed by another high energy song ("You Can Make It" and "What Have You Got"), with a ballad as the fourth song ("The Road" and "Haven't Seen You For A Long Time"). Back in the album days, the first songs on side B are also good lively rockers ("Now Or Never" and "Valaree"), followed by a mellower but intense hit ("Can You Help Me" and "Changed Hearts, Changed Lives").
One variation of the formula are the finales. "Hearts Of Fire" closes with "Reason For Your Life", a quiet commercial ballad that is meant as an encouragement. "Cutting Edge" ends with "Armed And Ready", a complex rocker with Randy Thomas and Brian Duncan sharing lead vocals, challenging the believer to be a valient Christian.
One contrast of the original covers. "Hearts Of Fire" show the band all smiling. "Cutting Edge" has a picture of them looking more somber and unhappy. One thing I'll comment: unless the theme dictates seriousness, I like it when Christian artists show the joy of the Lord instead of trying to look cool.
If you are smart enough to know that Christian rock is not a contradiction of terms, these classics belong in your collection.
My favorite songs on the collection are: "Isabel", "Can You Help Me?", "Contender", "Reason For Your Life" (all from "Hearts Of Fire"), "Runnin' To Win", "What Have You Got?", "Falling In Love Again", "Changed Hearts, Changed Lives", and "Armed And Ready".
The ultimate in "early" Christian songwriting.......2006-01-07
And no, I'm not kidding, "Just Like Me" is the greatest "I want to marry you" song of all time. Christain, secular, rock, easy-listening, country, any genre . . . this is simply the best of all time.

the weak made strong.......2007-01-01
In 1995 I sat at a dinner table in Oxford and chatted with the young American at my side. He was the manager of a new band called 'Delirious?', he explained. They were going to be the next big thing, perhaps the next U2. He earnestly implored me to watch for them, I would not be disappointed.
The band's name did not seem promising and the guy clearly had an interest in promoting his project. I didn't take him too seriously.
A decade later and with many Delirious cds on my shelf, I smile to recall this memory.
CUTTING EDGE was in fact the first name of the band. To appreciate this CD, you've got to enter the narrative of the insert and appreciate the band as a spiritual and musical phenomenon that seemed in the mid-90s as much a surprise to the musicians, managers, and hangers-on as anyone else. The United Kingdom is often referred to these days as 'post-Christian', a dismissive adjective that is overstated but, sadly, contains much more truth than one could wish.
The Delirious? phenomenon is, perhaps as much as anything else, audible testimony to the fact that the Lord does not easily abandon a nation. Dry bones are unpromising material, the prophet Ezekiel would concede, but when breathed upon by the Lord's spirit are capable of becoming a mighty army.
Indeed.
Such rhetoric, with its palpable biblical allusiveness, is part and parcel of the Delirious? package.
Before anything else, these tracks give us worship songs. Those looking for highly-produced, densely-packed, expertly-scored music like that of, say, Steven Curtis Chapman, are likely to walk away from this double-cd package disappointed and a bit glazed over.
Delirious? was and is a work in progress. Classic, simple rock progressions ('Singer's Song) give way to acoustic reflectiveness ('Lord, You Have My Heart'). Yet one never loses the sense that Delirious? is in some essential sense a band up on a stage. Leading worship. The recording studio came later and, one might sense, only half welcomed.
This reviewer lived for many years in Costa Rica, where in our church we often sang Delirious? songs in Spanish. Presumably, few of us knew the source.
Although much of Delirous?' output has not weathered as well as I had hoped, I am still deeply moved--as I was upon first hearings some years back--by the band's tempered, chastened side, a tonality that seems to move them consistently towards the Cross of Christ as their ground zero. This part of their artistic bandwidth is best appreciated via 'The Prophet Song' and others that I'll excerpt below:
'The Prophet Song':
'I hear the words of the prophets
I love to sing with the angels
I love to hear children praying
I love to see weak made strong
But most of all I love to hear the voice of God'.
With these lyrics, Martin's voice reminds us of what is central to our shared live of faith and what is, if not peripheral, then at least not indispensable.
Then one wonders about the biography behind a song that I have sung alone in tears:
'Find me in the river
Find me on my knees
I've walked against the water
Now I'm waiting, if you please
We've longed to see the roses
But never felt the thorns
And brought our pretty crowns
But never paid me the price ...
We didn't count on suffering
We didn't count on pain
But if the blessing's in the valley
Then in the river I will wait'
This pensive, profoundly grown-up offering seems to co-exist effortlessly beside the raucous and grin-making 'I Found Jesus!'. Indeed, it is the very fact that the men of Delirious? have chosen to grow up in front of us and out loud that accounts for a large portion of the reservoir of affection that one feels for them as human beings and appreciation for the music they have so generously handed over to all who choose to listen.

Awesome Modern Christian Worship Band.......2001-05-08
I really like this album because it has so many strong songs, and a wide range of music from the band. I do not like every single song on both discs, but I am very impressed with the overall album. Songs like "I found Jesus", "The Happy Song", "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever", and "What is this thing called love?" really opened my eyes about modern Christian music.
I highly recommend this album to any Deliriuous fan, or anyone looking for a Christian band that is making great music these days. If you have never bought a Christian album before, take a chance with this one. It just may surprise you.

A Great Soundtrack For a Great Movie!.......2006-04-26
1. Main Title-The Brave Little Toaster has one of the creepiest intros, panning through the dark woods to find an empty cabin full of seemingly lifeless appliences. This haunting track works very well with it.
3. Blanket's Dream-I'm not keen on them leaving in the dialogue here, as you don't get the whole fantasy scene unless you've seen it. Still, Lampy and Radio's amusing lines are here, which is good.
4. The Air Conditioner Blows-For anyone who was terrified of this scene as a kid, this frantic track does the whole thing justice, with a grim ending.
6. Again, the dialogue and sound effects are left in, but they actually help the humor in this track. Lampy's voice is awsome.
8. City of Light-This is my favorite of all the songs. It's a bright and optimistic ballad-ish song when the appliences set out. They're all good singers, even though Lampy speaks a few of his lines. Very catchy.
10. The Pond-This one has to be heard to be believed. It's sound effects of the pond create lovely music, and the highlight is the opera singing fish (don't ask).
11. Toaster's Dream-I just have to say, this is a really scary track to accompany the scene that probably scared me the most when I was younger. That clown...
19. It's a 'B' Movie-This is a spooky number, and will remind you of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Preformed by the junkshop appliences (and a bit by the core group), it's the first showstopper.
22. Into the City-A Beautiful instrumental version of City of Light.
23. Cutting Edge-A techno number sung by the mean appliences that replaced the old ones. It has great lyrics and sounds just like some commercials from that era.
25. Worthless-A disco style song belted out by the poor cars at the junkyard before they all meet their "deaths" at a trash compactor. Catchy and sad at the same time, and a favorite of many.
26. Finale-A seven minute long song. Ranges from hopeful to frantic to a happy ending.
27. End Title-A very happy song to end the soundtrack.
Buy it now. It's everything you've ever dreamed of on the edge...and more!
