Tina's best.......2005-03-28
Long Ago and Far Away.......2001-12-13
What happened? Why did Blue Note hold on to this for decades?
Tina could write--his tunes swing with an overlay of blues, even an echo of gospel. McLean is loose on alto, although not as scorching as he gets in later years. Blue Mitchell goes strong on the trumpet, and Tina is in nobody's shadow as he works the tenor sax. Paul Chambers and Art Taylor lay down an insistent melody line, and everone else takes off from there, but noone goes so far away that the rhythm breaks down or the hooks fall apart.
Three of the five pieces belong to Tina, and his melodies swing in that hard bop way. And those eight to ten minute tracks let everyone stretch out, work together, branch out on their own.
Tragedy in Tina's life? Sure, but that's old news for jazz artists in the forties and fifties. Musically, Tina Brooks deserved a better fate. This is a classic, right up there with Morgan's "Sidewinder," Clark's "Cool Struttin,'" and Dexter Gordon's "Go."
Better late than never, sure, but not for Tina Brooks.

v.......2007-01-01
Vanessa Hudgen's album rox, too. There is one song called Let Go where she takes a devilish approach. She curses. I can't believe people think she has to be a Disney Angel. C'mon, da gurl is 18 years-old. She's not-so-Disney Angelic Disney puts her out to be. And besides, she didn't even write the song!
Here are my reviews of the songs:
1. Come Back to Me by: Vanessa Hudgens- Sung like a true smash-hit song. Vanessa Hudgens really rox!!
2. Let Go- She takes a devilish approach, but she sings beautifully!!
3. Say OK- Girls can definitely relate to this song.
4. Never Underestimate a Girl by: Vanessa Hudgens- This song is totally girl-powa!!
5. Let's Dance- This is one of my fave songs. I just luv da joy of hip-hop dancing!!
6. Drive- V takes a free approach, on da highway!!
7. Afraid- I feel da song!!
8. Promise- Ciara had a song called Promise, too. Both are great.
9. Whatever Will Be- I totally understand it!!
10. Rather Be With You- This song is pop but wit rock feel!!
11. Psychic- I love the beats.
12. Lose Your Love- This is just as good as Come Back to Me and Let's Dance.
13. Dont Talk- A fantastic song!!
14. Make You Mine- A perfect ending.

- Justice County
- Do My Thing
- Sacrifice
- Third Degree
- Battle Cry (Rhythm of Suffering)
Album Description
Sweet Southern Soul, the new 10-song, all-original release from Atlanta blues rocker, Liz Melendez, interlaces her southwestern roots, her southern rock influences, and the great blues infused album rock of the 1970s that inspired her to pick up the guitar all tightly wrapped in an edgy and contemporary package. In contrast to her first release Mercy, which was a great showcase for her song writing and guitar chops, Sweet Southern Soul focuses more on using songs to tell a story. The cover inscription reads, "Estas Canciones Son La Historia de Mi Vida. (These songs are the story of my life)."
Songs such as Justice County are inspired by her New Mexico outlaw heritage (her great great grandfather was a member of Billy the Kid's gang and fought in the legendary Lincoln County wars) written in true southern rock, outlaw anthem style while tracks like Battle Cry (The Rhythm of Suffering) infuse the pueblo indian drumming she heard as a child with the modern electric blues she loves today. More edgy tracks like No More Love and the title track Sweet Southern Soul will take listeners back to the time before lip-synch tracks and drum machines, when great blues rock powerhouse groups ruled the earth, while fan favorites like the delicate Drink from My Cup, the upbeat Again and Again, and the gospel juiced Third Degree round out the album making it a must have for LMB fans and rock and roll music lovers alike.

The Side Effects Of Dying
Manufacturer: Southern Tracks Records ProductGroup: Music Binding: Audio CD ASIN: B000BVKXAK Release Date: 2005-11-15 |
Album Description
The Side Effects of Dying, the debut CD from the singer/songwriter duo Reynolds Robinson, offers a very tongue-in-cheek look at Pam Reynolds' benchmark clinical death experience case that continues to rattle the foundations of science worldwide. Since 1991, the name of Atlanta-based Pam Reynolds has been synonymous with consciousness research. Television, print media and radio, both here and abroad, have detailed Pam Reynolds and her groundbreaking brain-aneurysm case. Before her clinical death experience, Pam was a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, orchestrator and songwriter. On The Side Effects of Dying, Pam has partnered with critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Rob Robinson. A Mississippi native now based in Nashville, Rob wrote and produced three CDs with his jazz/rock band, Fearless Freap, and later formed the group Whirlybird, which released a CD that charted at college radio and Modern A/C. Pam and Rob began writing together in 2003. The Side Effects of Dying was mixed by Rodney Mills (Atlanta Rhythm Section, Sheryl Crow) and takes the listener on a journey to the edge of consciousness and back again. Among its many highlights are the first track, "If I Live Through This," a humorous, cautionary tale about why you should never pick up women at the state fair; "Young Avenue" welcomes you to your independence with reckless abandon; "The Crying Fields" is an introspective look at the search for forgiveness; and "What Are We Waiting For?" challenges every fear that ever held you back. Two of the songs on the CD, "Coming Back to Life" and the title track, focus on Pam's near-death experience.Customer Reviews:
