"Teach Your Children" was nominated for Best Country Vocal Collaboration, and "Keep On The Sunny Side" was nominated for Best Country Instrumental Performance in the 37th Annual Grammy Awards. RED HOT + COUNTRY is the fourth album in the very successful RED HOT series of genre-specific recordings benefiting AIDS Awareness. This time it's country music's turn, and under the guidance of Kathy Mattea, numerous contemporary Nashville superstars chose a song or a style representing an influence on their own artistry. For the most part they chose songs of hope and healing. From the opening "Teach Your Children" featuring Mattea, Suzy Bogguss, Alison Krauss, and Crosby Stills & Nash to the closing Carter Family tune, "Keep On The Sunnyside," featuring bluegrass greats Earl Scruggs and Doc Watson, the entire album offers a ray of light in these fearful times.

Customer Reviews:
Great singer, less than great album.......2001-06-10
Most of the songs on it do not deal with Sonny's usual themes of the joys of love or the sadness of heartbreak. Those are represented by such songs as "Pledge of Love," and "Looking Back." There is a bit of a Mexican theme with "Spend Another Night In Houston" and "Kid Cisco." There are also two old-time songs covered by Sonny on the album: "Lorelei" and "Oh Baby Mine."
However, nothing really defines this album. Some of the songs are confusing; none of them really stand out as excellent with the possible exception of "Hold What You've Got." The album has a 70's sound, but it doesn't have a Sonny James sound to it, a lot of the reason this album is disappointing. Only true Sonny fans would appreciate this album. . .maybe.
A little disappointing, but anything Sonny is great!.......1999-07-08

Album Description
"Let's Share It" is the newest CD from Pam Blanchard and the Sunny Side-up Band, who have been making music for children for over seven years. The CD is a fun time for the whole family. From hopping happy songs like "Ants In My Pants" and "Deep-Down Wigglin' Blues" to sing-a-longs like "Cut Up The Watermelon, Mary Porter" and "I'm Thankful", this CD provides a fun full spectrum of musical tastes for all children and their adults. With the catchy tunes and memorable hooks the band has created a collection of music that will entertain and educate children. It's a great album to introduce your toddler to music. But the music is also mature and the harmonies are beautiful, so the adults can enjoy. From a country song like "My Dad's Got Trucks" to the reggae title track "Let's Share It!", the band moves with ease, and this album does not bore. There are even songs with depth, such as the track entitled "Raining Inside Me". It lets kids know its okay to be sad sometimes. But they bring you back up with the rousing gospel-influenced "Follow The Children" and the self-affirming "I Know That I'm Great. This album is great music and a lot fun. Share it with your family.
As heard on Sirius Radio!!!!!!

ProductGroup: Music Binding: Audio CD ASIN: B000EIF6DY Release Date: 2006-04-11 |
Album Description
Brothers Javier and Luis Garayalde, from Iruña/Pamplona in Navarre, Spain, form Wagon Cookin'. Their father, sax player Javier Garayalde, made sure they got a solid classical education in music, sending them to the conservatory to study piano, banjo, double bass, bassoon, drums and percussion. They played in several Jazz bands in the 1990s and became interested in electronic music, acid jazz and house. They played at Popkomm in Cologne, Germany, and at the Midem Fair in Cannes, France, in 2002. They also shared the stage with Eddie Palmieri, Azymuth, Marcos Valle and Chic Korea over four consecutive nights at the Blue Note in Tokyo. That year saw the release of their first album, Appetizers. In 2003 they started work on their album, Wagon Cookin' - Assorted Cooking, in which they included material previously released on different labels, along with two new recordings. They moved to Brazil, and settled in Salvador de Bahia, where they formed the group Everyday Life with local musicians, imbibing their musical styles to form their own style, a mixture of jazz, bossa nova, break-beat and house. They also started doing live DJ sessions and mixing their production. They presented their latest album, Wagon Cookin' - Sunny Side Up in Japan in 2006 and are currently preparing a new album, from which they have released a 12" preview, presented at Sonar, Barcelona, this summer.Customer Reviews:
The Remix/Sampler/12" to CD Import Album!.......2006-05-02
It's certainly a great album for the fan that's been interested in checking out tunes by Wagon Cookin'. For example, if you heard "Lua" on Glucklich or "Fire" on "Spain is Different", this is the compilation for you. It's got a few tidbits form all over. The cd starts out with "The Week - The Weekend", remixed by Xan Blaq. It's a decent take too with a far more deep house feel to it. You lose the feel of the live instrumentation but you're given a totally different song. That's followed up with one of the best songs from Appetizers, "Mar", with an accoustic remix. While it doesn't have the same glide as the original, I think this is very smooth and has far more of a Brazilian ambiance to it. Xan Blaq's remix to "Natural High" had good keywork and an easy flow to the music, a perfect reprise. A few other stand-out tracks were "Fire", a pretty tough to find single and "Lua", which was only available on Glucklich and the Glucklich 5 EP. Lua in particular is a beautiful jazz fusion song with an amazing, warm vibe to it. Rounding out the rest of the cuts on the album - MAW put together a thumping remix of "Mar", and then there's a solid Louie Vega track remixed by Wagon Cookin', previously available only on 12" titled "Cerca de Mi". A few cuts from Everyday Life are featured, "Amarelo" and "Agua de Lluvia", while the second for some reason seemed slightly different to me.
For the Wagon Cookin' collector, this is a must have as it offers some pretty tough to find pieces on it. But I must admit, of all the remixes, I wasn't so much a fan of Wagon Cookin's own remixes of the songs. And I'm not convinced all of the remixes are timeless. Anytime real instrumentation is stripped and replaced with electronica, IMO, you open up that possibility. While I enjoyed this release, I must admit I did prefer both Appetizers and Everyday Life over this one. And please remember that this is a Japanese Import, so the linear notes are in kanji.
