Album Description
Music From and Inspired by the Motion Picture Sahara
Sahara stars Matthew McConaughy (Dazed & Confused, The Wedding Planner) as Pitt, with Penelope Cruz (Woman on Top, Vanilla Sky) and Steve Zahn (That Thing You Do, You've Got Mail) as his team of adventurers as they track down a lost ship containing ancient gold and a deadly and mysterious threat!
The soundtrack sizzles with Classic Rock favorites: Faces, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steppenwold, The Kinks and Grand Funk, just to name a few.
Customer Reviews:
Sahara is great fun !.......2007-06-27
The directors did a great job of bringing Dirk Pitt to life in their first attempt with a Clive Cussler novel. I hope their is plans to make movies of all his books. Action and rating are similar to James Bond. If you like James, you will love Dirk Pitt!
Sahara soundtrack.......2007-03-16
If you like classic rock, this is the soundtrack for you. When I saw the movie in the theater I made a point to find the soundtrack--it was that good. There are two soundtracks for this movie so be sure you pick the one that has the classic rock songs like "Sweet Home Alabama" etc. Keep it in your car because it's perfect for a road trip.
rock out!.......2007-02-10
If you want the great southern rock hits that played in the film and a few more for good measure, definitely buy this CD. I love to rock out with it in my car! But be warned: this is not the film's score (I think a few other reviewers might have thought that it was).
A Great Movie.......2007-01-11
You have to see this movie, it's great. It probably doesn't hurt that I'm a big fan of Matthew's, but my husband liked it too so I know it wasn't just him.
Great Music from a Fun Movie.......2007-01-10
It is a soundtrack CD. What can I say? Well, if you loved the music in the movie, you will love this soundtrack.
Really, it does have some great music on it.
I recommend it whole heartedly.

The electrification of acoustic Middle-Eastern music dates from the 1980s, when Algerian rai superstar Cheb Khaled (now known simply as Khaled - the dropped honorific meant "kid" or youth) released his groundbreaking masterpiece, Kutche. It is now commonplace to hear melodies and instruments as old as the desert sands juxtaposed against languid, trippy vocals, while a relentless 4/4 beat is pounded home via sampled, backbeat-driven snares and weighty bass lines. However, the 12 artists on this set for the most part manage to have their fun without bruising the delicate, mysterious beauty of the original traditions. Songs from Iran, Lebanon, Morocco, Lebanon, Algeria, Turkey, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, and a couple of Western locales emerge transformed by clubby synth vamps and anchored by feisty, two-ton bottoms. The treatments come across as sexy, droll, playful, startling and/or tragically hip, and just about any listener will certainly find something to enjoy. --Christina Roden

groovy arabic sounds.......2007-07-11
I checked out a number of these putumayo lounge cd's and this was by far my favorite. The music is varied and lush, with a combination of female and male singers. It's a great cd to listen to when I am cooking or entertaining. If you like middle eastern instruments and vocals, check this one out.
Beautiful Music .......2007-05-25
I am a teacher in a classroom filled with 2 year olds. I LOVE music from different countries and different cultures and firmly believe that our children should be introduced to worldly music. I put this CD in for the first time as the children were waking up from nap. One girl started bobbing her head and arms to the first track, and others followed suit. It's not a fast pace dance cd like they're used to... so they had to listen, and figure out how to move, it was very interesting, and fun.
I love putting this CD on in the background while we do activities and work. The flow of this CD is beautiful! I love it!
Just getting into world music.......2006-11-18
I'm in the military and every time I walk into a "Green Beans" coffee shop anywhere in the world, they have Putumayo's music on. This was the first album I purchased right at the coffee bar, and I've not been dissapointed. I went to their website (a tad more expensive than Amazon) and just ordered 2 more albums. I can't wait to get home and share the music with my husband, who plays a mean dumbeck.
Putumayo's Best Middle Eastern compilation.......2006-09-27
"Sahara Lounge" is a highly underrated album. It's got a glorious diversity of music, showing the Middle East in all its exotic glory. When I first heard this CD playing in an imports store,I was entranced.
The opening track,"Shiraz",is a powerful instrumental from Sharif that draws you in.Bahia El Idrissi uses his background in Sufi chant to sing an enchanting song. The lyrics aren't in the liner notes, but they aren't necessary. One can hear the vastness of the desert in his voice.Maya Nasri's "Khallini Bilijao" is a powerful song of unrequited love.Soap Kills' "Dub4Me" is another great instrumental."Cleopatra in New York (Zim Zam Mix)" doesn't seem to do much with Cleopatra,or New York, but it's wonderful.Yasser Habeeb's "Elama" is a hypnotic chant.Ilhan Ersahin, who also has a track on "Euro Lounge",plays his special blend of Turkish jazz. The Jasmon mix of Mohamed Mounir's "Hanina" is delightfully loungy;if you want to hear the original, check out Putumayo's "North African Groove." Justin Adams' "Desert Road" is a great meditation on the North African desert. Finally, there's the lounge mix of "Lili s'en fout." It's been taken too seriously by some reviewers. It's meant to be fun,and it is.
"Sahara Lounge" is a perfect downtempo,chill-out companion to "Arabic Groove." It shows the breadth and diversity of Middle Eastern music. It's a perfect introduction to Arabic music.
Great for Relaxation.......2006-06-13
This music is really good if you just want to relax and enjoy the music.
Another good putumayo to me

Customer Reviews:
turned off!.......2007-01-15
Bought this CD after reading the rave reviews. Not what I look for in music. This group seems to be more about sex appeal than music. More about production than real music--one can barely notice that there is a string quartet playing. Could only stand to listen to this once-could find nothing of interest. One heck of a photo shoot, though. SOmeone must have had a field day with that. This CD seems to be more for the sake of some sexy pictures than its music. A real turn-off.
Bond Shines Another Day.......2006-06-11
Fans only had to wait two years for Bond to punch out another Classical/Pop/Dance album. The finished product is some of the string quartet's best work. With the return of violins, a viola, and a cello, these instruments provided the basis of Bond's Classical music sound. But to acheive the full sound of Bond, the electronic instrumention for Pop/Dance music returned as well. This time around, Bond dove further into the Classical genre and arranged pieces to match their own sound. With a name like Bond, the string quartet also performed their version of a James Bond Theme entitled "Bond On Bond", and it landed them a spot to the score and soundtrack for the film The World Is Not Enough. With the release of this remarkable record, it was clear that Bond and their new form of Classical music would not diminish.
Stand out tracks include:
"Allegretto"
"Shine"
"Fuego"
"Speed"
"Gypsy Rhapsady"
"Bond On Bond"
A Good Band.......2006-01-05
It is a good party music. All are very talented individuals. Everyone has their own taste of music, and Bond is mine.
Shine On!.......2005-06-02
This is the album that I really liked. Although I downloaded it, I also play this one nonstop. I love the whole CD, and that's rare for me!
The album is liked so much in my house that my mother and father take it from me--and I recently had to make copies of the CD so they can play their own!
"Shine" is a great addition to your collection if you love Bond, no doubt about it.
Does it come with a scratch and sniff?.......2005-04-15
Read my review of Lara St. John's "Re: Bach" album and substitute "Bond" where it says "Lara St. John."

Look no further, there is no better Anggun. She is one and only........2007-05-31
This album may please music lovers of variety of genres: pop, jazz, rock, and classics. All this is due to the incredible voice that moves through ups and downs flawlessly, shouts and whispers, stops and rains, involves and pushes aside, waves welcome and good bye. All these oppositions are in one voice, the voice of Anggun. Incredible highs and mellow lows are a short description of the pleasing experience of listening to the CD.
The music is the blend of pop-rock and ethnic melodies. Such songs as "Snow On The Sahara", "By The Moon", "Life On Mars" became the international hits. They are catchy with well-memorable tunes. Once you hear them you will always recognize the songs no matter where you hear them the next time. And, this is true to the Anggun's overall performance. She is really recognizable!
The voice is beautifully surrounded and promoted by the music arrangements. The band supports the singer perfectly. The instruments are loud but never over the voice. The voice always stays in front and clear. The sound engineering is good, thanks to Sony.
The album is a great effort by Anggun. I personally consider the album as the best in Anggun's discography and recommend it to any music fan. Start your incredible music journey today!
Very special music.......2007-01-05
Angunn has a singular voice. Her musics are amazing both in English and French.
Indonesian Siren Stirs The Soul.......2006-01-25
Anggun isn't just another beautiful woman promoted by a record company solely based on her looks. Yes, she is incredibly attractive but there's also a voice to complete the package.
Her exotic Indonesian looks are well complimented by a smooth, husky and seductive voice that strongly reminds me of a young Annie Lennox. A comparison especially evident in track 1 - Snow On The Sahara - and track 7 - Selamanya -.
Definitely a strong debut album/CD, proving you can be both beautiful and talented at the same time.
Miraculous music from the wonderful Anggun.......2005-10-19
If you don't believe snow could fall on the Sahara, it means you haven't listened to this cd yet! Anggun, who has one of the most incredible voices in the world, really does make you believe anything's possible - her music can bring so much hope, light and beauty into your life. All of her songs have an amazing feel to them - dreamy, bit oriental and...full of air and wind. I know it may sound abstract, but you'll certainly find out it's true, when you listen to Anggun's music. Take my word for it. What's more, this album features one of the best songs in the pop music history - "Snow on the Sahara" - an ultimate anthem of hope and wisdom; if I were to choose the greatest song of 90's, that would be the one. Don't hestitate for a second and get one of the best cd's of the last decade, from one of the most inspiring and talented living artists.
One of the best albums in the past 10 years.......2005-07-02
Anggun was one of Indonesia's superstars. When she left Indonesia in 1995, settled first in UK and eventually moved to France, no one ever imagined that there'd be someone from indonesia doing this AMAZING stuff. I'm very proud of her : a true talent from my homeland, singing in 3 different languages, and making such a phenomenal work. 'Snow' is a remarkable work; mixing beautiful world sounds and graceful new age music plus pop-rock influences. Seriously, you can hardly find music like this expecially in a full-commercial music industry nowadays.
Now, the review:
'Snow on the Sahara' - one of the GREATEST songs ever. I listen to it every single day, and will listen to it forever in my life. 'If your hopes scatter like the dust across your track/ i'll be the moon that shines on your path...' 10/10
'Over their Walls' - energetic but not so special. the chorus parts should've been added some other lines. 7/10
'Breath of an Angel' - beautiful but somehow not so special to me, but this song is still good for me 8/10
'Rose in the Wind' - LOVE IT TO DEATH!. I love the emotion, the beauty and the harmony of this track. The lyrics describe myself. 10/10
'My Sensual Mind' - very sensual . 9/10
'Valparaiso' - a great pop rock track. 9/10
'Selamanya'- the most haunting track of the album. in english, it means 'Forever' 9/10
'By the Moon' - better than 'Breath...', very beautiful 10/10
'Dream of Me' - better than 'Over their Walls', i love it! 9.5/10
'Secret of the Sea' - another beautiful ballad. the simplicity of the tracks gives an enchanting sounds. 10/10
'Life on mars' - LOVE IT!!!!. a LITTLE bit better than Bowie's version. nice ending. 10/10
Anggun has released her NEWEST english song entitled 'Undress Me' (currently only released in italy, france, and indonesia). Her newest album 'LUMINESCENE' is currently available on AMAZON.COM (here!). ANGGUN, YOU GO, WOMAN!

The Rippingtons are ostensibly a band, but in reality the name is just a vehicle for Russ Freeman and his ideas. Freeman not only writes almost all the material, he also plays all the guitar parts and most of the keyboard parts. Moreover, he arranges, produces, engineers and mixes the recordings himself. Ever since they emerged in 1987, the Rippingtons have dominated the jazz charts, even though they play instrumental pop, not jazz. On Sahara, Freeman integrates two pop vocal numbers with the eight instrumentals. Jeffrey Osborne is the guest singer on the Rippingtons' remake of the Spinners' '72 hit, "I'll Be Around." Unfortunately, Freeman's arrangement smooths out the rhythm, mutes the accents and induces Osborne to deliver a bland vocal with none of the passion of Philippe Wynne's original. This is not just pop music; this is easy-listening pop music with every challenging element surgically removed. --Geoffrey Himes

Rippingtons:Sahara.......2006-12-09
My first CD of this excellent group and still my favorite. Anyone who doesn't like this CD is eating to much Cake Frosting!!!!
Their First Flop!.......2005-12-29
By the time this CD came out I had already been a fan of the Rippingtons for eight years. Obviously, those who reviewed this before me weren't very familiar with their earlier works. I was terribly disappointed with most of this!!! This CD does have it's moments....Girl With The Indigo Eyes, Native Sons Of A Distant Land, and True Companion. Overall, I felt that it was their first flop!!! I just know that they can do better than this because all of their previous disks were better.
"Sahara" is quintessential Rippingtons!.......2005-09-02
This CD is well crafted. There is a balance between tunes with a rock and roll edge, some more mellow songs and one with a calypso flavor, complete with steel drums! Also included in this musical work is a soulful rendition of the musical standard "I'll be there." The CD wraps up with a hard driving piece titled "Porcha". This band is hot!
Top reviewers? Stay away.......2004-04-01
Talking about Sahara, I find this disc as one of the best in the Rippingtons catalogue probably second only to "Black Diamond" and "Weekend in Monaco". It is really focused and entertaining, each track is really good obviously in the trademark Ripp's soft and sophisticated sound. It is really good, I own this cd since it came out (and all the Ripp's other cds) and I still listen to it very much. I own everything from Charlie Parker to John Coltrane, from George Benson to Van Halen, from Wes Montgomery to Greg Howe, I'm a serious jazz musician, I think you can trust my opinion. I enjoy Rippingtons, Charlie Parker, Van Halen, Shawn Lane and everything in between, because they're all fantastic musicians. Send one copy of Sahara to Jimmy Page, maybe he could learn something about orchestration, guitar playing, harmony and more than everything else melody.
One Of The Best.......2004-02-16
If you like the Rippingtons you will love this CD. If not give it a try you may come to love the Rippingtons like I do. Highlights of the album are a wonderful version of "I'll Be Around" sung by Jeffrey Osborne and the title track "Sahara".

While the sales of Sarah Brightman's ambitious, Middle Eastern-themed 2003 album Harem may have fallen short of its predecessor, the veteran UK chanteuse's popularity as a live performer has only mushroomed. This live recording of her ambitious, sold-out Harem World Tour engagement at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Arena is testament to that appeal, begging the question: Will Brightman become the Grateful Dead of classical crossover? Indeed, abetted by the rich sonic textures of longtime producer/collaborator Frank Peterson, the worldbeat conceits of her recent studio recordings are folded into a larger, even more expansive live vision here. Brightman's overt dramatic instincts and oft-chaemeleonic vocal abilities drive a slate of material that stretches from the Arabian Nights/Madame Butterflypastiche of Harem's seductive "It's A Beautiful Day" through surprisingly effective classical/rock reinventions of Kansas' "Dust in the Wind" and
The Moody Blues' chestnut "Nights in White Satin" to expected classical bowings "Nessun Dorma" and the obligatory nod to
"Phantom of the Opera"

AMAZING! She is so much better live!.......2006-12-02
This CD rocks! This is Sarah Brightman on her Harem World Tour, and this performance was recorded at her stop in Las Vegas. The first two tracks, "Kama Surta" and "Harem Overture" debut from her newest album, entitled HAREM. The two tracks are connected, but in the actual Harem Tour, the full piece "Harem" is sung. If you go to www.youtube.com and type in "Harem Tour" in the Search Bar, you can see live videos. I would prefer that the album has placed "Harem" instead of these other two tracks. The third track, "It's A Beautiful Day", is from Madame Butterfly, written by Puccini. This version is Brightman's twist, which some more pop and some English. It's pretty cool. The fourth track on the album, "Dust in the Wind" is from EDEN, an amazing album. Track 5 is, "Who Wants to Live Forever", and it seems as though Brightman never creates a tour without putting this piece in it. It's a beautiful tribute to Queen's rendition. Track Six is "Anytime, Anywhere", also from EDEN. I'm not really into the Foreign Language - English songs, but this works very well, especially because she ends the song with the classical foreign language. The seventh track is Brightman's rendition of Dvorak's "Song to the Moon", or "La Luna". The track is beautiful! The eighth track is Puccini's "Nessun Dorma", and Sarah masters this beautifully! There is no other soprano I know that can sing this piece one octave up and can hold the ending note for ever!!! Track 9 is "The War is Over", which is followed by "Free", both from HAREM. Track 11 is "A Whiter Shade of Pale", from LA LUNA. It's beautiful to listen to. Sarah's version is very gentle, but has a lot of energy in the chorus. The twelfth track on this album is "Twisted Every Way", followed by an instrumental version of "The Phantom of the Opera" Theme. The next track is "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again", which is extended at the end, in which you hear some men cry out "WE LOVE YOU SARAH!", and she responds cutely with an, "I love you, too." The audience laughs! Track 14 is "Time to Say Goodbye", the duet that made Andrea Bocelli famous, and skyrocketed as the number one single sold in German history! The last live track on the album is "A Question of Honour", from "Fly", which is awesome! The last track on the album is a bonus track, which I don't really prefer. However, the whole album is simply amazing. I much prefer Sarah when she is live. She has a more magical quality! If you love Sarah Brightman, then you will love this album.
ALSO RECOMMENDED : Since there is so much Sarah Brightman to choose from, I also recommend EDEN, TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, LA LUNA, CLASSICS, and DIVA.
Inspiring, Beautiful and The Sweetest Voice!.......2005-08-21
What an album, absolutly beautiful!
We, the fans of this great artist finelly have in our hands a live album, and it's amazing:
-The voice is totaly live, she sang about 24 complete songs in the show, but the album only contains 15.
-Snow In The Sahara is a lovely song.
If you have the chase of get this alubum, don't doubt and get it; It wond disapoint you!
astounding performance.......2005-06-07
an impeccable concert experience that successfully elevates the album to majestic heights. I had long been a fan of Dead Can Dance and the unparalleled work of Lisa Gerrard. When Sarah Brightman ventured into these Middle Eastern sounds on the Harem disc, I thought it was too derivative of the Dead Can Dance sounds (there is even a sample used on one of SB's songs that had previously been used within DCD).
However, experiencing this epic and intensely mystical concert compelled me to realize the individual and unique glory of Sarah Brightman. Also, this concert is so phenomenally entertaining at many levels that I couldn't help but fall absolutely in love with the special magic of Sarah Brightman. Obviously, the expansive Middle Eastern milieu can accommodate more than one angelic vocalist!
I now consider Lisa Gerrard and Sarah Brightman to be geniuses who both warrant goddess status in the pantheon of lyrical greats. To see either one of them perform live is surely one of the most powerful and memorable sensory experiences one could ever have!
Great, of course.......2005-03-18
Sarah's voice and style are terrific, as usual. However, I have to say that her version of Anggun's "Snow on the Sahara" is fairly bland, especially compared to the original Anggun version. Sarah has the chops but lacks soul on this great song. Everything els here is very nice.

Album Description
Clint Mansell (ex Pop Will Eat Itself) has created an amazing score for the hit summer film. Sahara is the first hit of the summer movie season and the soundtrack continues to thrill fans of the film! Starring Matthew McConaghey, Penelope Cruz, Steve Zahn and William H Macy, Sahara takes the audience on an action-packed trip through exotic settings and new challenges.

Hold Tighter!.......2006-10-26
Raving reviews about the music drove me to purchase this soundtrack - my first Clint Mansell score. When "Ironclad" began, I felt transported into a period of adventure much like the effect of James Newton Howard's score to WATERWORLD.
I immediately fell in love with Mansell's action-packed score written for orchestra with inclusion of electronic elements. Some of the tracks contain fun, rhythmic, ethnic elements giving the score a somewhat "epic" feel.
Favorite tracks:
-Ironclad (Awesome brass theme build up with percussion choir!)
-Hold Tight! (Fast paced action scoring!)
-Hold Tighter! (Most fast paced action scoring!)
-Bomb Alley/Ironclad Revealed/Victory (Longest track on album)
This is definitely a surprise among many overlooked scores of 2005. Don't miss this one!
Hold Tight!.......2006-06-29
To put it simply, I love this soundtrack.
Clint Mansell, who scored the catchy but sinister Requiem for a Dream theme, manages here to fuse desert tunes with fast-paced, block-buster style sounds. I know, it sounds a little wild, but that's exactly what this soundtrack is--wild.
My personal favorites include the opening theme, "Ironclad," and it's remix "Rock On!" "Hold Tight" and "Hold Tighter" are two songs that always manage to get me riled up, and "Truck Escape" has a beat that'll stay stuck in your head for hours to come. I know other reviewers have recommended these songs, but I liked them so much I had to suggest them too.
I think the last few soundtracks Clint Mansell has scored have been excellent, and I believe it's only a matter of time before he matches ranks with the likes of Hans Zimmer and James Horner, two other composers that I respect very much. I can't wait to hear what he comes up with next.
A Great Adventure Soundtrack!.......2005-08-24
This soundtrack has a lot of great music!
Clint Mansell has done a great job making the music.
It has soft and tender music, like ""Calliope at Night" and "Bonding", but also great action-adventure music like the adventures theme that is heard at "All Aboard!" But you can also find great action-adventure music in tracks like "Hold tight!" and "Hold Tighter!"
But the soundtrack also includes african music, with people singing. Tracks like "Here we Go!" and "Celebration" Which are a joy to listen to.
If you are more a fan of suspencefull music, you can listen to "Into the unknown" Which begins with beautiful music, and goes slowly further into suspencefull music. The title of the track says it all.
Also "Kazim's theme" is slow and ritmic but yet fritening.
On this soundtrack you can also hear a lot of music that gives the feeling of hot desert lands, and arabic influence. Tracks like "Solar plant" and especially "Mosque", but also "Truck escape (Which is very fun adventure music)"
With other words, all kinds of instrumental music style can be found on this soundfull soundtrack!
The great thing about this soundtrack is that it gives the feeling of the movie back while listening to it. That is always a good thing.
The music is powerfull, fun, ritmic, refreshing, beautiful, but most of all, it gives the sound of adventure.
I hope you will enjoy this soundtrack as much as I do!
Sahara Sounds.......2005-08-10
Great to hear the sounds that went with the movie and not just the album that was inspired by the movie. I loved to get sound tracks because eveytime you listen it brings the action back.

Great Swedish Group.......2007-06-13
The Sahara Hotnights are back with a must better album than previously and confirm all expectations. While they have chosen a much more polished approach than compared to their previous efforts, they have lost none of their rocking punh. Indeed the album is much better produced than even the last album. First song Visit to Vienna is simply splendid. This is a typical pop-rock song with distinct 60's feel as well as a rumbling bass. The girl choruses are great. then the single cheek to cheek is really neat as well. While the album has lost some of the punky touch that made them great, it is certainly not less great than previously. It sounds like the work of a more professional group overall but which is still inspired. Their playing has really improved and they rea one of the best rock bands at the moment. Compered to previous efforts it has a slightly more pronounced feminine touch which is not bad at all despite the fact that the SH are one of the few female bands that does not fall prey to the cliches of the genre. I had to order mine directly from Bengan's in Gotheburg since the imports on Amazon. com or . co.uk were really expensive. Anyway it came very fast from that source as usual (plus it is from Sweden itself!) Also, the girls lok really great on the cover, so who can want anything more?
Growing up can be good!.......2007-05-26
Sahara Hotnights have always been a very good mature rock band musically. They never tried to be too pop or too rock just somewhere in between. With this new album they have seemed to mature even further while staying true to their sound. You can definitely hear influences strongly in their music but they still maintain a sound all their own. "Cheek to Cheek" is the first radio single and it is different for the band as it goes into more straight "pop" territory but in the end it is quite catchy and very retro 80's almost some kind of hidden ode to Siouxe and the Banshees. If anyone likes anything by this band then this album is another welcomed release. Sahara Hotnights will never be a top 40 band in the US but thank God they don't adhere to what is what in US music these days and stick to what they know and are.

King of Cool.......2007-05-12
Isaac Hayes...what can ya say, "Barry White" didn't even come close... other than steal this mans whole act. This show is fantastic, my only regret is that it's not on DVD.
The epitome of early 70's progressive R&B/soul.......2006-09-06
I pulled this set out for the first time in a while and it has lost NOTHING with the passage of time.
I remember I was fascinated with this grown folks' music back when I was 3 years old (when it was released!) and it still sounds good.
If you want to know why so many artists sample Black Moses' music ... if you want to know where Barry White and countless others around the world "went to school" for their funk/lounge/disco/R&B/soul/jazz musical ideas and film/TV scores ... if you want to know why Isaac has been so revered for his countless talents, this would probably be the best place to start.
Just one example: Isaac's take on Carole King's It's Too Late proves he's a genius. The way he weaves in musical elements of Spooky and We've Only Just Begun is amazing ... and when you consider the irony of the lyrical subject matter with those songs being mixed with It's Too Late ... man, this brotha is deep. (Literally, considering some of those low bass notes he works with.) He is a musician beyond compare and bonds vocally with the tunes like only a musician can. And his sense of humor is second to none, lol.
LIVE AT THE SAHARA TAHOE is truly the epitome of everything that was fantastic about soul music from the early 70's. An indispensable work from one of the world's greatest musical talents.
Get On Down!!....Isaac.......2006-08-05
About 33 years ago on a special night at the Sahara Tahoe.A man is standing in front of a vibraphone and as he begins to play the instrument.A female voice from the audience calls out 'Get On Down!!..Isaac'.The man is Isaac Hayes the Black Moses of soul himself. And the song he is about to play is Ellie's Love Theme. The years 1968 thur 1973 were good years for Isaac Hayes recording on the Enterprise label.During that time he came out with the ciassic soul albums Hot Buttered Soul,To Be Continued,The Isaac Hayes Movement and Shaft.Making him a superstar. And bringing us to Isaac Hayes 'Live At The Sahara Tahoe' this was not only a show it was a event.Hayes gives us a perfect bringing together of r&b,rap, smooth jazz, blues and some comedy.Along with songs by Bacharach and David,Bill Withers and original songs by Hayes himself. The highlights of the album to me is a new version of Ellie's Love Theme,Theme From The Men'(Hayes only tv score),the down home blues feeling of Rock Me Baby and Stormy Monday Blues,Type Thang(I think this tune came from the second Shaft movie) and a new version of the Bill Withers classic 'Ain't No Sunshine'.On this tune Isaac Hayes picks up the alto sax and turns the song into a entertainment masterpiece. This is one show the audience seems to really enjoy. The only downside of this album to me is the songs left off like By The Time I Get To Phoenix,Walk On By and I Stand Accused. But I still think this is one of Isaac Hayes best albums.I only wish this show was on DVD.
Awesome piece of history............2005-08-04
Until seeing THE EAGLES in concert in 2003, this was the greatest concert I had ever attended. In between 1973 and
2003 there have been hundreds of concerts that took my money
but never entertained me more than Black Moses himself. You
can feel the electricity of audience, even though it is in
the Sahara Hotel, and not in an arena of 12,000. The music and
rap is very tight and great. I am happy to see this on CD.. I wore out the double LP set..
Phenomenal--the best!.......2005-04-17
This is one of my favorite albums. It is electric. A must have!

almost great.......2007-06-25
Excelent production values but the sound remains rocking hot. It may not be as raw as their previous two records buut it is great. Thez have a slightlz more poppz sound which is whz it did probablz not come over as well and did not do as well as the previous release did.
Excellent!.......2006-09-09
This is a great CD, full of great guitars, drums, bass and vocals.
Who do you Dance for? This is a great song. I really like the lyric, and i like the guitarriffs. The beginning and ending is best.
Hot Night Crash. This is the first single of the album, and I understand why. A intreresting lyric and it's really catchy and it's overall a really good song.
Empthy Heart. I really like the beginning, with the "oooh ooh". It has a nice melody and nice instruments.
Walk on the wire. This grabs you from the beginning, and it's really good. Nice instruments, fast paced.
Mind over matter. It's a really nice song with a great chorus, but yet it's pretty forgetable.
Stupid Tricks. It's something about the melody thats a bit annoying, but I love the instruments, and the backgroundvocals in the chorus.
Nerves. Probably the fastest paced song on the album, and it's all good. The intro is amazing, and it's amazing all through.
Stay/Stay Away. It's a bit to slow, and I don't like the keyboard (I think?). But it has something special that makes you like it anyway. The guitar is great.
Keep calling my baby. I really like the lyric, and it's really nice although, but it's not as great as mostley of the songs on the album.
The difference between love and hell. Again, I really like the lyric. The chorus is to me catchy and short. Shortley, a great song.
Hangin'. Maybe the best song on the album. Great instruments, great lyric and great melody. It gets in your head.
The best CD ever!!!!!!!.......2005-07-23
I bought this CD soon after it came out and I loved it from the start. It is classic yet new. The Sahara Hotnights are the best rock band around now. Maria Andersson is the best rock singer in the world and the rest of the girls; Jenny, Josephine, and Johanna all rock too. They are so much better than the Donnas. All of the songs are great and it is far from a let down from the amazing "Jenny Bomb.". Every song can be a hit single.
Friccin awsome.......2005-06-25
I totally agree with the review by J.Ree
Then i would like to say that The Donnas sucks compared to these girls!
Listen to Sahara hotnights cd's and get happy.
I also recommend cd's of Vixen and juliette & the licks
Fun Rock'n Album.......2005-06-24
I've had this cd for awhile, but finally got around to a review....and I need not say anything besides- This cd rocks. Literally, it rocks...just give it a spin and you'll love it...and if not, go back to the stone you live under and stay there!
