One of the most inspired cobbled-together-from-a-stack-of-records soundtrack albums since Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski matches the goofily ramshackle spirit of the Dude, the hero of its celluloid companion. While offering Bob Dylan's luv-addled "Man in Me" together with the Gipsy Kings' redefinitive "Hotel California" and the psychedelic-era Kenny Rogers nugget "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)," Lebowski also gives longer play to some cuts barely sampled in the film, including Elvis Costello's "My Mood Swings." Whether taken as a Coen brothers mix tape, a one-album CD carousel, or an apropos souvenir of one wiggy flick, this is a smart, eclectic buy. --Rickey Wright
Customer Reviews:
terrific!!.......2007-06-30
this is a fantastic album, if you like ecclectic music, that is. easily one of my favorites.
Not bad... but missing something........2007-04-17
This cd definitely has some good points. A great song by Dylan from the opening credits and my favourite, "Dead Flowers" done by Townes Van Zandt. But tremendously written by Jagger and Richards. Funny how my faves are from the start and end of the film. Between these two songs and a rousing "Hotel California" by the Gypsy Kings, I'm happy enough, but oddly, no Creedance. What am I gonna listen to while reaching for that joint I dropped in my lap in the car?
8-miles high track... better in movie........2007-03-19
The song that goes with the Treehorn dream sequence in the film (Kenny Rodgers et al "Tripped on a Cloud/ 8-miles high") was better in the movie, as the version on the cd is a poor original edit, with ackward reverses (and I like reverses, when not halfway through a measure...- for example, the reverse that opens it up is fine, the one three quarters through or so, you see, is not.), half measures chopping up the rhythm and in general either hastily done or naively... I've toyed with the idea of re-editing it myself in a track editor, but I'll just delete it from my player, because I'm lazy. The other tracks are good, but with a few odd ones like the feminist chant song- play this at your next Halloween party/[...]. I have loads of creedence, so not missing that. the Gypsy Kings' "Hotel California" is the best track, much better after first listen as anyone who has watched Lebowski more than a few times will be surprised by the new verses at first. "The Man in Me", if you don't already have it, isn't exactly representative of Dylan's work in large, but is a nice ditty. The Mancini song is filler. Elvis Costello's "My Mood Swings" rocks, and I'm glad it was included despite being minutely used in the film. Anyway, it's a good cd all in all, but only for "Hotel California", and "My Mood Swings"... otherwise the Kenny Rodgers' song is bad, should have been re-edited... Probably the reason it was obscure to begin with... The Man in Me is widely available. My advice... wait and find Gypsy Kings elsewhere. Same for Costello and Dylan. Not the best playing mix.
what the f*ck?!.......2007-03-06
No Tumblin' Tumbleweeds. That's a bummer, man, uh, you've got to have Tumbleweeds in there, the film f*cking OPENS with it, man, and it's in there again later with the Stranger. This is a f*ckin travesty. F*ck it. I'm goin bowling.
camd908.......2007-01-05
The Dude is the man for our times. John Goodman makes Walter the crazed Vietman vet a classic movie side kick. And what can you say about Donny except he loved to surf. Happy Trails.

A vibrant tribute to MGM's legendary confluence of brains, talent, hard work, ambition--and dare we say it?--massive egos, Singin' in the Rain long ago took its rightful place among the first rank of the studio's dizzying catalog of film musicals. This double-disc, 46-track 50th-anniversary edition features all of the film's familiar songs, as well as numerous outtakes and extended versions, many culled directly from the film's original recording masters. Its second disc also chronicles the film's clever--if studio imposed--self-referential musical gambit of recycling a slate of Arthur Freed/Nacio Herb Brown songs from Metro's first decade by including 14 of the originals, including performances by Jeanette McDonald, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, and Freed himself. Featuring a dozen previously unreleased recordings and an illustrated booklet containing the insightful reminiscences of the film's original writers, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, it's the ultimate musical companion to one of cinema's magical, enduring masterpieces. --Jerry McCulley

Customer Reviews:
the perfect movie.......2007-03-10
My old Gene did it: the perfect movie, the perfect american history, the perfect music. Some people think musicals are "B" movies. I say them: look about the dream, the performance, the music.
Who can say what is beatiful? Look at faces of Gene and Stan during the shooting on the set: whole concentration and attention for everything.
This is a unique moment in their story, and in the story of cinema.
Unforgettable.
I LOVE MY FAVORITE SONG, AND THANKS TO THIS CD I CAN LISTEN TO IT ALL DAY LONG!!.......2007-01-28
I love Singin' in the Rain. It was the movie that made me like musicals, not those simple, mellow movies like South Pacific and the Sound of Music, but REAL musicals, with people like Fred Astaire or Eleanor Powell tapping their hearts out, or great singers like Frances Langford or Dick Powell putting over a song like they mean it.The Singin' in the Rain 2disc special edition introduced me to my favorite movie, the Broadway Melody of 1936, the MOST AMAZING MOVIE EVER! So I was so glad when my parents got me the soundtrack to Singin' in the Rain, and besides the music of the 1951 versions of the Nacio Herb Brown/Arthur Freed, there are also the original versions of the songs in their original movies. I am so glad that Rhino put the duet of Robert Taylor and June Knight singing I've Got a Feelin' You're Foolin' on this CD set! It's my favorite song, and now I can listen to it! Hooray!! It's the best song EVER!! There's also vocals of Charles King singing the Broadway Melody, which is great! And many more, like Bing Crosby, Frances Langford, Jeanette MacDonald, and other great singers I can't think of right now. This CD set is great, the sound is nice and un-staticy (mostly), there are 30-plus songs, and the price is phenomenal. I love my favorite song, and now I can listen to it all day long!! Yay! :)
Wonderful Soundtrack to a Wonderful Movie.......2006-06-16
Yes, this is it--the first real musical I ever saw. Okay, I saw "Wizard of Oz" and "The Sound of Music", and I love both of those musicals dearly. I had even seen "My Fair Lady." I thought musicals were all like those. Until this one. I had never seen such dancing. And this CD causes me to relive the joy of the musical each time I listen to it. Complete with the tap sounds. I love that they included even the deleted songs. Now we just need a DVD that has all the deleted scenes in context. But the studio probably threw all those away. Oh well, our imaginations can take care of what is missing.
Great CD.......2006-03-20
This is a great CD of music for your family to listen to. Our family enjoys it very much.
musical memories.......2006-03-14
I enjoyed this CD very much, as I remember seeing the movie years ago. I grew up watching MGM musicals and this was one of the best. I loved all of the wonderful songs that came from this movie. Great sound on this CD.

A very cheap way to get Kenny's hits........2006-01-29
This CD is great and features ten hit songs by Kenny Rogers. It is a cheapy and very good value, but for those of you looking for more, you might like to know that Kenny's newest collection "21 Number Ones" contains all the songs here and many others.
10 great songs........2004-03-02
"Kenny Rogers" is one of the greats from the classic country era. This is half the collection "20 Greatest Hits" is, but for the price it's good. Plus it still has most of his best songs. Included here is "She Believes In Me", "Lady", "Coward Of The County", and his biggest hit "The Gambler". It also has a few nice duets. Overall it's a nice simple collection for the casual fan. If you need more than this, pick up one of his other fifteen best of's.
The Best of Kenny Rogers.......2000-06-26
This CD has some of Kenny Rogers' best and most popular songs. These are definitely "sing along" songs! The first time I heard the CD, I had to buy it.
The Gambler........2000-06-21
Kenny Rogers Is One Of The Best Singers In Country Music. His Best Song To Date "The Gambler" Went Straight To Number 1 On The Country Music Charts And It Became His Song Of The 20th Century. My Favorite Out Of Them All Would Have To Be "Coward Of The County". Those 2 Are Classic Kenny Rogers Songs. Plus He Has 2 Duet Songs With Kim Carnes And Dottie West. This Is True Classic Kenny.
Good Value.......2000-06-20
If your looking for an inexpensive Kenny Rogers CD with some of his better known songs, this CD will do the trick. It's not great compilation but does include the gambler and coward of the county.

Album Description
"Limited Edition" is a CD rich in Rickenbacker "Jingle Jangle" including five electrified blues and folk songs, seven new songs and a tribute to McGuinn's inspiration, George Harrison.
Customer Reviews:
A Viable Effort.......2006-01-04
As a McGuinn/Byrds fan and Rick player of many years, I was obligated to buy this CD if only to prevent a hole in my collection. However, it was money well-spent, without doubt. The material is strong, as are most of Roger's performances; and where he gets help, the help comes through.
My one issue with this album is that it is heralded as full of the "jingle-jangle" of the Rickenbacker, and I disagree. First of all, I've always detested the term 'jingle-jangle;' it's just too cute a term for such a magic sound. Second, the album does not jingle OR jangle - the guitar on this is so compressed that it sounds more like a vacuum cleaner drone than Roger's signature sound. In my opinion, I would like to see him rediscover the Turn, Turn, Turn sound. But then, I would also like to see him discover me as his producer. . .
Music better than performer........2005-11-17
As always, Jim (Roger) does a great job on record but continues to be one of the worst guys in the business when it comes to one on one interaction with concert attendees. Surely, he doesn't still think he's the only one still playing and singing old songs to old folks.
musicianship still exists.......2005-09-26
It was nice to hear a pro do his thing, with good musicians, good songs, and a clear feeling he loves the music.
Folk & Rock = A Musical Marriage Made in Heaven.......2005-07-24
George Harrison was and is my favorite Beatle and to hear someone treat his 1965 classic, "If I Needed Someone" with respect, vocally as well as by arrangement was a very pleasant surprise. I honestly did not think that anybody could actually do his own arrangement of this Harrison classic; keep it a recognizable tune and make it nearly as delightful as what the Beatles recorded in late 1965. McGuinn has done an extraordinary job with this collection. He has played the range, including timeless staples such as "When the Saints Go Marching In" and "Shennandoah."
The Byrds' covers of Dylan songs were easy listening, soothing and pleasant and I love the folk arrangement. The Byrds were indeed pioneers and helped influence other excellent groups of that era such as the Turtles, the Lovin' Spoonful and even the Critters, an ersatz Spoonful-esque band from the late 1960s.
McGuinn rocks on "Shady Grove" and "James Alley Blues" will remain a very hard act to follow. That is just a treat for the hearing world.
"Shennandoah" is, as I like to think, written and performed in a very emotive key. Just listening to McGuinn perform this takes listeners through a wide spectrum of emotions. It goes from bright and cheerful and upbeat to melancholy in parts and intense in others. An extraordinary work. I love it!
I had the pleasure of seeing McGuinn and Barry McGuire in concert a few years ago when they did a local show. They are just as effective and just as excellent now as they were decades earlier. McGuinn is an incredible guitarist and I want to hear more guitar work from him. I'd love to hear him and John Sebastian of Lovin' Spoonful fame perform together.
All in all, a solid work. There are many listeners who'll pray for something like this to come along again. Kudos!
Excellent CD!!!!!.......2005-03-23
February 22, 2003 will be a date which I will never forget. In Mt. Dora, Florida, Roger performs a benefit concert, which I attended and had my picture taken with him after the show, and it was this concert where I got to hear some of the material that would end up on this CD for the first time, such as "Interstate 95", as anyone living in Florida can relate to the story Roger tells in this song about being on the road. One listen to the lyrics and you'll understand what I mean. "If I Needed Someone" is an excellent tribute to George Harrison (the original Rickenbacker 12-string king), and I've tried to get an e-mail confirmation from Roger if "Echoes Live" is truly mistitled, as any Byrds fan can tell that it's obviously an acoustic rendition of "Eight Miles High". If you have Roger's CD "Live From Mars", you'll know what I'm talking about. Nonetheless, this CD is very good, especially the hip-hop influence on "Shady Grove". A neat novelty move on Roger's part, to be sure, and if you're a devoted Byrds fan, I recommend this CD. It's a great addition to anyone's CD rack. Roger has often spoke about preserving the folk music, as evidenced by his renditions of such classics like "When The Saints Go Marching In", "St. James Infirmary", "Shenandoah", and "James Alley Blues". If this is to be truly a "Limited Edition" release, then I'm glad to be one of the lucky fans to own this. Excellent work, Roger!!!!!

highly recommended.......2007-03-20
my daughter knows is time to sleep when we put the cd. by the 3rd song she is asleep. usually I'm falling asleep at the first song. it's so relaxing, even my cat likes to sleep on this one. he doesn;t move an inch while this is playing.first whispers playtime is also relaxing too. highly recommend them. the only drawback you may find is that the composers and songs are not listed on the cd. for me, they are not important, as long as my daughter likes it, I don;t care who's playing what.she's couple of months only, but this cd, beside relaxing alpha recording, has also colors, numbers and shapes in subliminal messages, so it will be helpful for toddlers more to learn them while sleeping or paying.
This CD is Great - We Love It.......2006-03-24
This is an excellent baby CD that you probably will not find on stores. I had a very hard time looking for it until some one finally told me I could get it on Amazon. Actually I end up buying the Playtime Edition as well and we all love the music.
It seems like they only make these 2 CDs which is unfortunate. I went and check out their website after getting the CD and realizing they had one at FirstWhispers dot com and that's all I found.
After listening to other baby CDs out there, I can safely say that this is truly a unique one due to the fact that has phonics, the alphabet and other very low frequency tracks that my babies seem to react to when I play it.
Cheers.
This is the Perfect Baby CD.......2005-11-30
This CD is great! It has soft classical music which helps me and my baby relax. The fact that my baby is learning while listening intrigues me.
I have always been interested in the super conscious mind and really do believe my baby is learning. I read to him every night and he is always so relaxed.
The comments from the previous reviewer were just dumb, the alphabet, numbers and shapes etc. were suppose to be a low frequency.
Disappointing.......2005-09-12
I had high hopes of an engineered CD that would help my newborns development. Instead I got a CD with 8-10 tracks of classical music - that's it (and the tracks aren't even labeled so that I know the composer/song). There are none of the nature sounds, verbal messages, biorhythms, or heartbeats that are promised on the cover. Just a plain classical music CD.
Great to Start Exercising your Baby's Brains Early in Life.......2004-09-19
I consider this CD different from all the other old boring classical music CDs claiming to make use of the well known Mozart Effect.
The music has been combined with low frequency nature sounds and the sounds of a mother's hearbeat to help soothe your baby. It also has low frequency educational verbal messages that help your baby's brain start learning about numbers, the alphabet and other.

Album Description
Available for the first time in the US, this is the complete Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to the classic 1954 film GODZILLA, featuring the score by famed composer Akira Ifukube. Ifukube's timeless orchestral score evokes all the terror and majesty of that towering creature cherished around the world. Produced in association with Toho Studios, the score has been remastered and complemented with bonus tracks (cues edited as they appeared in the film). The CD booklet features exclusive artwork and in-depth liner notes.
Customer Reviews:
It's big and it's terrible!.......2005-07-28
Sorry, I couldn't resist using Raymond Burr's awful line. But this soundtrack is indeed truly AWESOME! One of the best things about Godzilla is the music, which was so distinctive and so haunting that it made us overlook the cheesy special effects. More than any of his 1950's monster contemporaries, Godzilla's soundtrack gave the big guy a soul that spooked children and stayed with them long after they grew up into sensible adults. I still get chills whenever I hear those school girls singing the Prayer for Peace. Akira Ifukube was a genius whose music was an apt coronation for the King of the Monsters!
Great Addition to Your Collection.......2004-10-07
If you're a fan of the original Godzilla movie, American version or Japanese, both contain the same music. This CD is a dream come true for Godzilla fans in the U.S. The music sounds great, doesn't sound aged at all, but still old fashioned, which is good. Track 20, is probably the saddest and most moving song I have ever heard, long song also, 6:20, but it's worth the listen. Akira Ifukube is definatly the master when it comes to kaiju film music. The extra tracks are a treat as well, they are just the film versions of some of the songs, but still great. If you want to make your kaiju collection grow, then this is worth it, or if you just like orchestral music, then it's worth the wait for shipping. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Origato, Ikufube-san!.......2004-08-24
This remastered CD of Akira Ikufube's original Godzilla score is an excellent addition to the fiftieth anniversary celebrations for the film series. Ikufube is constantly mentioned in discussions of the Godzilla films, and it's easy to see why: he always treated his subject seriously, even when the movie itself didn't.
Surprisingly, the music doesn't feel terribly dated. You can often pinpoint the age of a movie soundtrack pretty accurately, particularly 1950s sci-fi movies (the theramin is usually the giveaway). I don't think this is because Ikufube continued to score the Godzilla series well into the 1990s. Rather, I think his classical music training allowed him to create a score that was not influenced by the sounds of the time. "Classic" is an overused adjective, but it's appropriate for a score that feels relatively modern after 50 years.
The one thing that does date the music is the quality of the recording. It's in mono, of course, and the music is not as crisp as you would hear in a contemporary recording. Still, the sound remaster is impressive considering the age of the original recordings.
It's also interesting to listen to this score in comparison to Ikufube's later music for the series. The music is extremely somber, in contrast to the more adventurous tone that Ikufube created for later films. For example, Godzilla's "entry" theme is here (in tracks like "Godzilla's Rampage"), but in a much slower, more menacing version that is barely recognizable as the powerful signature it would become later.
At just over 45 minutes, there's not a lot of music on this CD. And of those, four tracks reprise earlier cues, just rearranging the cues to the order they appeared in the movie. There's also some Godzilla sound effects. Their inclusion is appropriate, considering that Ikufube created them with musical instruments! (This piece of information is one of my favourite tidbits from the liner notes, which are fairly good.)
If you're interested in the familiar Godzilla themes, you're probably better off with a compilation CD of Godzilla music: it will have better sounding recordings, and the themes are more recognizable. But for serious kaiju fans and film score afficianados, this CD is a treat.

Customer Reviews:
Saucy!.......2007-04-23
These songs are like a warm, beautiful love gift from the heart of Kenneth. "She believes in me" is probably the most beautiful song I have ever heard. I weep thinking about it, especially the part where he says, "Gawd her love is true." The only thing which could have made this album better would have been to include "Coward of the County" and "Lucille."
Kenny Rogers Love Songs.......2003-08-30
I ordered this CD based on the list of songs and my CD only has 9 of the songs listed and not necessarily the ones I wanted.
I don't recommend.
explanation please.......2003-08-23
I just received my cd. My problem is: the track listing you wrote on here is different than what's on the cd. Mine starts with "Love will turn you around" and goes to "You decorated my life." The song i wanted, "Have I told you lately," is not on mine. I purchased the disc based on the track listing here. Please explain.
Kenny not singing Country music.......2003-04-24
A few years ago I got my first Kenny Rogers - not knowing too much about him. This CD is just terrific and also my real favorite everyone should have is Kenny's Collector's Edition. I am so lucky to have "discovered" him for my entertainment Val Luttrell
Great........2000-06-27
Kenny Rogers Is 1 Of The Best Country Music Singers Of All-Time. His Number 1 Hit "Through The Years" Crossed Over To The Pop Charts. I Like "Love Will Turn You Around". "Lady" Is Another Classic Balled. This CD Is A Must Buy.
