Product Description
Romance. Passion. Emotion. These words are synonymous with the voice of Andrea Bocelli. Almost ten years ago he exploded onto the international music scene with Romanza, and has since sold nearly 50 million albums worldwide. Amore--released amongst the glamor of the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy (where he will perform at the closing ceremony) and the romance of Valentine's Day--finds Bocelli straying from the carefully groomed classical ground in which he is most familiar. The concept of the album came from famed producer and longtime Bocelli fan David Foster along with co-producers Humberto Gatica and Tony Renis, who posed the question: Why not take the most beautiful love songs in the world and pair them with the most romantic voice in the world? The result is a beautiful album of pop standards that Foster has publicly claimed is "one of the most beautiful records I have ever been part of."Embarking on a new era, Amore unveils a fresh sensuous sound that gently moves Bocelli into new territory. Spanish guitars flourish, traditional Latin percussion seductively keeps the tempo, accordions and harmonicas provide charming melodies, while sometimes Bocelli shares the spotlight with just a grand piano. Recorded late in the summer at Bocelli's Tuscan home studio overlooking the coast, the album exudes the natural beauty and breathtaking surroundings evident in Italy. Amore marks the only album David Foster has made outside of his Californian studio complex in two decades. This was also most musically gratifying for Bocelli: "I've been presented with opportunities I once could only dream of, challenges I longed to confront and experiences I will cherish forever, but while recording this album I realized that now is the perfect moment to arrive at an album of this repertoire, with the perfect producers, the perfect musicians and the perfect selection of songs."

With valuable assistance from producer Rick Rubin, the Peppers find just the right blend of punk, funk, and hip-hop. Even with a running time of 74 minutes, this 1991 breakthrough has continuity and cohesion both within and across the 17 cuts. Riding Flea's surging bass, Anthony Kiedis delivers his explicit lyrics with a rapper's flair, extolling the virtues (and outlining the dangers) of sex and drugs. Plaintive ballads such as "Breaking the Girl," "I Could Have Lied," and the hit "Under the Bridge" give the album depth and provide contrast to the raw energy of "Mellowship Slinky in B Major," "Funky Monks," and "Give It Away." Rubin masterfully fuses John Frusciante's raunchy guitar with the irresistible grooves. --Marc GreilsamerCustomer Reviews:
love this album! so funky and catchy!.......2007-07-16
ALL YOU NEED.......2007-07-15
hold up.......2007-07-13
And I can't believe that you even have audacity to bring up lyrics. First of all, most of the songs are funk rock, Thusly, it's party music: i.e. Sir Psycho Sexy, which is brilliant in its own way. Secondly, the songs that do call for different lyrical composition come through in every which way. Are you seriosuly trying to tell me that 311 has a song more meaningful than "Power of Equality?" Do you even listen to the lyrics? I think not.
Lyrical abilities aside, you must realize that you are basically taking Chad Smith, and extremely respected rock drummer, John Frusciante, hands down one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and Flea, (debatably)THE greatest rock bassist of all time, and saying that what many people believe is their greatest piece of work in BSSM, is garbage. I just hope you didn't listen one time and write that bull****. If so, your review is all the more less credible because you fail to realize one of the most key compenents to good music; the fact that it grows on you and it takes more than one listen. You just can't absorb it all in one take.
I have nothing against 311, they're not a bad band. But it's hard to give you any respect when you rip a band like Nirvana at the end of your review. I understand you are entitled to your opinion, but you have to see that you are contradicting yourself when millions of people love BSSM and Nevermind and you just shut that down like you are some kind of all knowing god.
Anyways, just to add some of my own opinion, this is my favorite album of all time and will always be. I feel like although the chili peppers have moved on and continue to make world class music they will never top what they did in 1991. Just too much emotion, attitude and musical ability when into that album. They went into it with something to prove and just ripped it up. I think Stadium Arcadium is definitely a step down for them. It's a great record but it lacks some of the artistic maerit that they had in their last four albums (minus OHM).
Way overrated.......2007-06-24
The Peppers have their own sound, but it's too bad they suck. THe band (besides Anthony) are very talented, but the playing just don't go together very well. I like 311 better because they play funk better, they don't seem to try to force everything, everything just goes together so well, their synergy is just great.
Red Hot Chili Peppers suffer because they just don't seem to fit together. No doubt the whole band is very talented, but they go together, they just dont' seem to blend as well. Anthony is a cheesy vocalist. The lyrics on here are mostly on the same topic, sex and drugs, which gets old after a while. He can't sing either. His later lyrics cleary were a step up from the pointless lyrics he does during this time.
Basically, I dont like their sound, although the bass is something to check out. It's not worth it to me, I find nothing special about this band, although I give them points for talent and originality.
4.5/10
UPDATE: HAHAHA!!!!!!
The retard who replied, the way you judge people on a silly band shows how stupid you are. Think about that one for a second. I think 311 is great, and I am not going to say what I think, the last thing I want to do is make a ________ reply like you did, and become everything I hate, people who spend their time insulting because they upset you and your precious RHCP (I'm only writing this to embaress you).
IF I was somebody who you met on the street and we had a converstation, and I said the same, you would actually walk away on one silly opinion?
Call them ignorant, bash them, explode and blatantly insult somebody. Well, you could say that it's just the internet, but some people treat internet insults the same way. YOu don't have feelings anyway (hey I sound just like you!)
I'm not mad that you bashed 311, I don't get mad about a silly musical opinion. It's your opinion. I don't call you ignorant over one band opinion, because I actually think that you could be a person with a good mind, that's smart. Music is music. How many ignorant people can listen to Classical music, millions of different rock, jazz, blues, world music, electronic, and more? Oh well, your a closeminded @$$hole (let's make a retarded insult just to get through the night! *sarcasm*).
Excuse me while I listen Wagner. I'll find layers and depth of music that you never will.
Your the ignorant one (here I go again! *sarcasm*).

It's impossible to hear Andrea Bocelli singing Perry Como's "It's Impossible" without being overcome by a sense of utter enchantment. As the ripe-hearted have known since 1997's Romanza, though, Bocelli's French-perfume-like appeal generally lingers well beyond a single song, suffusing entire lovestruck evenings with its richness and warmth. And so it goes with Under the Desert Sky. Recorded at a floating concert venue near Las Vegas (thus the title), Bocelli's first CD/DVD combo plays like an elaborate seduction. Cue up the DVD, and the crossover classical tenor, outfitted in black velvet, tortures the besotted with visible sincerity and knockout performances alongside David Foster and the elegant Heather Headley. Spin the CD and the songs come spilling out like elegant reminders of the swoon-worthy live performance. Several of the nine songs on the CD--"Cuando Me Enamoro," "Canzoni Stonate," and "Somos Novios (It's Impossible)" among them--are available on other Bocelli discs, but that shouldn't deter the faithful. For one thing, "Can't Help Falling in Love," a dazzling duet with American Idol's Katherine McPhee, can't be heard elsewhere. For another, outside of a few vintage Julio Iglesias albums, you just won't find this much feeling packed into a single 33-minute disc. It's impossible. --Tammy La Gorce

stuff is edited,bludgeoned,rather.
tempos verge on comical.
rather disapointing,I really needed a nice version of the sugar plum faerie dance.
will probably stick to Wendy Carlos's,cheesy, runningly cheesy, blue cheese smelly, even,as it might be,still holds the original pace and campy pomp.
...not nuch of a cheese shop is it?
-it's fairly clean.
certainly not contaminated by Cleese!
Good Introduction but poor quality.......2005-09-12
However, the sound quality on this albumn is quite poor and there are much higher quality Tchaikovsky recordings available.

Disney's Greatest 3

Cynical types will accuse Disney of milking the "greatest" concept until it's drier than Tinkerbell's fairy dust ("Supercalafragilisticexpealidocious," "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Da," and "Heigh Ho" were hits off of Vol. 1; "Bare Necessities," "It's a Small World," and "Some Day My Prince Will Come" stole the show on Vol. 2), but a glimpse of this installment's track listing is all it'll take to squash their suspicions. Once again running reverse-chronologically, Vol. 3 opens with Jonatha Brooke's gorgeously achy ballad "I'll Try," from 2002's arguably not-so-great Return to Neverland, and gradually reaches back through the years to re-raise the curtain on Toy Story 2 ("When She Loved Me," performed by Sarah McLachlan), The Lion King ("Can You Feel the Love Tonight"), Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews's classic "A Spoonful of Sugar"), Pinocchio ("Give a Little Whistle"), and a bundle of treasured others, bottoming out at 1933's "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" from The Three Little Pigs. Vol. 3 is not without its weak moments--would a G-rated movie-goers' poll produce Beauty and the Beast's "Gaston" or The Hunchback of Notre Dame's "Topsy Turvy" on a hits list? Seems unlikely. Still, the bulk of these tracks are, as the included Little Mermaid song goes, "Part of Your World," and the spread of decades they represent proves their staying power. Don't expect Disney to latch the lid on its inexhaustible archives until a dozen or so of these records, each as strong as the next, beckon you back for more. --Tammy La GorceCustomer Reviews:

Children's Favorites a solid purchase.......2006-03-09
The perfect package.......2005-10-23
Songs from the "Nutcracker" are familiar and comfortable for many children. What child wouldn't love "March of the Tin Soldiers?"
Selections from Saint-Saens' "Carnival of the Animals" is a must in my creative movement library. Every child should be exposed to this music. Well,I believe every age should be.
A Wonderful Introduction to the Classics.......2003-03-11
This disc is far superior than most other "Classics for Kids"-type recordings I've sampled for a number of reasons:
1) This album was expertly engineered. The production quality on this disc is first-rate from start to finish with crisp, clear sound.
2) The pieces were expertly picked. There is wonderful sonic variety here, spanning hundreds of years of wonderful melodies. There are orchestral pieces, harpsichord pieces, solo piano, and a piano concerto, capped off with Saint-Seans whimsical Carnival of the Animals. What kid (or adult) wouldn't love that?
3) The performances are, without exeption, expert! The pieces were definately screened for quality as well as content. Many are simply a joy to behold. Walter Klein is a particular stand-out, almost giddily prancing through Schumann's pieces. Believe it or not, he sounds even more impressive when backed up by the always inspiring Minnesota Orchestra on Mozart's Piano Concerto #17.
In short, this album is a great album even before you factor in the great price. You and your children are almost guaranteed to enjoy every 6-cents worth!

Amazon.com essential recording
With characteristic willfulness, Nina Simone plunged into a range of songbooks and styles between 1966 and 1973, when she recorded nine LPs for RCA. This two-disc overview demonstrates just how unpredictable and headstrong the seething songstress was during a period that was tumultuous for Simone personally and for society in general. Top 40 covers ("Mr. Bojangles," "To Love Somebody") mix with rock (Dylan's "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues," George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun") and pop standards ("Since I Fell for You," "My Man's Gone Now"). An increasingly politicized perspective informed Simone's late-'60s work. Her friends included Black Power firebrands H. Rap Brown and Stokely Carmichael, and she made no attempt to disguise her militancy. "The King of Peace is dead. I ain't about to be nonviolent, honey!" she announces on this collection's "Martin Luther King Suite," which was recorded live one day after the civil rights leader's assassination. While a number of selections included here can also be found on RCA's two volumes of Essentials, this lovingly assembled survey (which includes five previously unreleased recordings) captures the High Priestess of Soul in all her unshackled glory. --Steven StolderCustomer Reviews:
