Excellent Intro for Those Not Familiar with the Orchestra.......2003-11-08
The narrator and writer is a great speaker and holds your attention well. He is definitely knowledgeable. He provides musical examples for each point he makes, so you get to "hear" what he just talked about. I'd say the CDs are about 65% music and 35% narration. You'll learn about the range of instruments, some history, different ways to play them, how they sound, and how they are used in the orchestra. This CD set was a great learning experience and is sold at such a low price!
I recommend this CD for those who want to learn about classical music and those who know about it but are interested in learning more about the inner workings of an orchestra. You'll learn much useful information. For instance, the Rite of Spring (with that eerie start) is written for bassoon! I never knew a bassoon could sound like that but now I do.
The one complaint I have is the last CD. This deals with the orchestra. I wanted more of a tour of how the orchestra has been used through history up to the present. Instead, it was a tour of how different groups of instruments sound. I thought it could have been better. The other 6 CDs are excellent.

Men at Large coming out in a Large Way.......2005-07-09
Men at Large brought us something we had never seen before, two big brothers who could sing and dance, which was quite different at the time.
The first single of this cd, Use Me, came out in April '92 and immediately became a top 10 radio hit and got major play on BET's Video Soul with Donnie Simpson and Sherry Carter.
Their second single, a slow jam called UM UM good, went on to hit #1 on the R&B charts in the summer of '92 and was a smash hit.
Their most popular song off the album, So Alone, was a very sad song which talked about losing a loved one and being left all alone. This song also got plenty of radio play.
Other good songs on this album were: Stay the Night, You Me, and Aint it grand.
It was pretty decent for a debut album, but their second album really put them on the map.
I LOVE MEN AT LARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2004-03-03
The Sumo R&B singers, the weather boyz.......2003-12-19
Glad they were big and proud and whatnot but they started to turn the fact that they were "big" and R&B singers into a gimmick.
I remember they had a video of them raiding a supermarket...c'mon!! They were on BET'S "Video Soul" and Donny Simpson (the then and original VJ of BET)had to nicely diss them because it didn't represent anything creative, and made them seem like the R&B version of "The FAt Boys". We all know that the Fat Boys were getting ridiculous in their videos...nothing creative just eating...I remember that video they did for "Can u feel it" and "Buff" (the fattest one that died)was smearing ice-cream all over his face while beatboxing...SIGH!
Anyways concerning M.A.L. My favorite song was "So Alone" because it related to so many things and emotions I felt at the time, I just listened to it the other day and it still moves me.
Where are these guys now??
Hopefully they have slimmed down a little and either write music for other singers or produce...hate to know that they are the managers of KFC or something.

Good things dont last
Dont Cry, featuring Gerald Levert and Keith Sweat
Feet Wet..I dont wanna fall in love, I just wanna get my feet wet...let me hit it, let me get it!!!
First Day...ever since the first day I met ya, I wanted to hit it..(I wanted to hit it) but you wasnt it with...I promised it that I'll keep it on the d-low
I wanna roll, which is a smooth mellow song with a good background beat for slow dancing or two stepping
Funny Feeling
and of course, Will you marry me, which is a classic, classic song....
