As an educator, I found it easy to listen to, my students loved it immensely and we were able to use the instrumental versions for our Holiday program.

MY PARENTS PLAYED THIS ALBUM THE ENTIRE TIME I WAS GROWING UP DURING CHRISTMAS TIME. I LOVED IT. BRIGS BACK FUN TIMES. WHEN I SAW THAT IS WAS AVAILABLE AT AMAZON, I BOUGHT IT RIGHT AWAY. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO LISTENING TO IT.

Christmas With Conniff.......2007-01-27

This is a nice Christmas collection, perfect for easy listening. Most of the music here is arranged in medleys, with "Ring Christmas Bells (Carol of the Bells)" being one of the few stand-alones. It's also my favorite of the lot.

"The Little Drummer Boy", which is arranged as part of the first medley, is another stand-out number. With the exception of its final few seconds it's almost identical to the Harry Simeone Chorale version.

All-in-all, a good bargain buy.

Joyfull X-mas album!.......2007-01-23

This is a must have album for Christmas! Listened to it as a kid during the 70's and have missed it ever since! Very glad I found it on amazon for this X-mas. One gets in a really good mood listening to it! I gladly recommend it to everyone!

A Blast from the Past.......2007-01-17

This was my favorite Christmas album in the 60's and 70's. It's upbeat, "modern" treatment of old standards was attractive to me as a child. Now my kids love it just as much. It brings back good memories!

great album for children.......2007-01-18

One of the great albums for children. An oldie but still great. The only negative thing is that it is missing the one original song from the original album, Red Skeleton's Little Christmas Tree.

This CD cought my ear when I was listening to the radio. It brought back sounds from my childhood. I would encourage anyone to buy this CD, it is well worth the price.

WOW!!!.......2007-01-15

I'm overjoyed that I'm able to find a replacement for my beat-up record that I really only use to play The Littlest Snowman. I guess we all had those defining childhood moments over this album! As an adult, I would play this every year after the tree was in the stand, but before I started decorating. It was the official "start" to the season! In addition, I would always call my mom and play the first couple lines for her.....and it became even more meaningful to me after she passed away in 2001. I'm sorry for those of you who liked The Little Christmas Tree but I'm ecstatic to have my Littlest Snowman back!!!! (p.s. did anyone ever do a psychological study about a "first Christmas record for children" with so many songs on it that make kids cry???????)

Pleased but not elated..........2006-12-27

I was happy to finally find this album on CD (the new cover threw me) but GREATLY disappointed that not all the songs are on it! What's that all about? Another case of taking something great and bringing it down to merely good!

My original 33-1/3 has Rudolph, Suzy Snowflake, Twelve Days of Christmas, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Santa The Happy Wanderer, The Littlest Snowman (by Captain Kangaroo),C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S, Nuttin for Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, The Night Before Christmas, Grandfather Kringle, I Just can't Wait Til Christmas. I still cry on some of those! My parents are both passed now, but I can remember getting this album when I was about 4 years old (I'm 51 now)and listening to it over and over. There are a skip and a few pops now, but I love it. Thanks for the download info.

T'estimo, Josep.......2005-09-26

I heard José Carreras singing "T'estimo" in his native tongue in a concert with the three tenors and I was fascinated by his rendition of this song as well as the language and when I stumbled upon this recording I couldn't resist buying it. And it surely didn't disappoint me. Hearing him sing these traditional songs from his native homeland is pure delight.

Here you'll find all kinds of songs; lullabies, Christmas carols and love songs in addition to traditional folk songs. Josep's enthusiasm when singing is easily discovered. And he sings with his usual ardour, pouring all of his emotions into each song. This was recorded in 1990 and his voice is as wonderful as ever. The only thing that has changed since his illness is that he sings with even more passion than before. I enjoy listening to all of the songs, but have of course picked quite a few favourites. "D'amunt de tu, només les flors" is beautiful beyond words while "els contrabandistes" is fun listening to and makes you start toe-tapping. "Canticel" is a delightful little song and "Canco de comiat" is an achingly beautiful farewell song to Catalonia. "T'estimo" (I love thee) is a beautiful love song composed by a late fellow citizen of mine; the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, so the song is not from Catalonia, but the lyrics are translated into Catalan. Not long ago I had the honour of hearing José Carreras singing this song in my hometown. A wonderful experience, I might add. After finishing this song Carreras looked upwards and blew a kiss of thank you to heaven, obviously grateful that his rendition of this particular song was very well received by the audience in the composers' hometown. A gesture that no doubt added to his charm....

The songs in the rest of this album are equally wonderful and I have to say it makes me curious to find out more about Catalonia as well as its music and the people living there. I'm a person who also finds great joy in just listening to the beauty of different languages and having this language expressed in a beautiful and sensual voice like José Carreras' is for me as good as it can possibly get. No one sings Spanish like Carreras; no one sings Catalan like Carreras; no one sings like Carreras. Period!

Singing the Collective Soul.......2000-01-28

Carreras' voice prior to nearly succumbing to leukemia in '87 carried his audience on the streamers of fireworks -- bright, climbing, breathtaking. Beating the disease, his voice changed; it changed to encompass the very heavens. This CD attests to Carreras' incredible range both technically and emotionally with the simplicity of EL CANT DELS OCELLS, the gap-toothed boyishness of CANCO DE GRUMET, the heart-wrenching DAMUNT DE TU, NOMES LES FLORS. These poetic songs are from his Catalan homeland; they are poignantly arranged and beautifully performed. Carreras calls it Singing from the Soul. I call it Singing the Collective Soul. Catalan Songs is an unexpected, very personal treasure.

Breathtakingly beautiful!.......2007-01-15

Over and over we played "Die Menge der Engel" - - it is stunningly beautiful! The loftiness of the voices, wonderful.

We loved the boys/children's choruses on many of the other pieces on the album. Duets by Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavorati - - magnifico!

It is a pleasant compilation of traditional favorites and awesome classical pieces that are worth listening to again and again.

If you love Christmas as much as I do, you will probably enjoy this album. It features plenty of standard favorites - especially sung by the MoTab, who seem to be a holiday staple. I probably wouldn't pay $17.95 just to hear songs like 'The Little Drummer Boy' of 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas.'

What makes this compillation interesting is the liberal sprinkling of less traditional - or, anyway, less well-known - classical pieces. Vivaldi's 'Gloria', Corelli's 'Christmas Concerto', and the opera 'Hansel and Gretel' all make an appearance. The standout, in my mind, is the ethereally beautiful 'Watt's Cradle Hymn,' which I have never seen or heard anywhere else - that one song alone makes this album worth a listen.

Not ultimate, but truly classical.......2003-11-19

Good mix of the expected ("Silent Night", "O Come All Ye Faithful", etc) and the unexpected (the Vivaldi Gloria, Gabrieli, Schutz). Kudos to the Sony team for uniform clarity & quality of sound, despite source material from 1959 through 1998. Word to the wise: the performance of "O Little Town of Bethlehem" credited to Marilyn Horne is actually by Eileen Farrell from her excellent "Carols for Christmas Eve" release. No disrespect to Ms Horne, who is well represented by two performances with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. If you're truly a classical music fan but don't mind a traditional carol or two, this is an excellent buy.

This isn't any sort of 'soundtrack' for the movie, it's a radio production of the script with Stewart and Reed. These radio presentations were common in the era, and many movies can be found in this form.

It's the same wonderful story, and the live performance adds a new dimension, for instance, highlighting some humor that isn't as obvious in the film.

An interesting aspect of this is the obvious commercial nature of the production, with live in-line commercials/testimonials for the sponsering soap. At first, it's seems annoying, but it becomes charming.

A must for fans of the film.

i am beside myself. i should have been born 50 years earlier because its a wonderful life is my favorite movie ever. to see that there actually is a record that is basically an audio summary of the movie is the best thing ever. my night is made, and im going to watch the sunset now...so cya!

to anyone who tries making fun of my love for this movie based on this review: rizzle a dizzle. if you dont like this movie, you wouldnt even now that this section of amazon.com existed.

As good as it's gonna get for collectors........2001-06-27

I had been looking for the soundtrack to this movie for a long time. Finally, one summer, I found a copy at a CD store. I got too excited when i saw it, because when I listened to it at home, none of the movie dialogue was filtered out of the music. Since the time I purchased that CD, I've seen only one other version available - It's A Wonderful Life: music from and inspired by the film. The only way you are able to get this is during Christmas time. It comes in a movie/soundtrack two-pack for ...(a good price). However, I am very happy to have found this CD, because I am a collector of old music and radio shows. So, if you too are a collector, search for this item.
