Editorial Reviews
Dan Shelton first picked up a guitar in 1958 and has not been able to put it down since. It has been his constant companion throughout his travels all over the world.
While working in Central and South America, Dan became interested in the Brazilian rhythms of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Sergio Mendez, and began learning a variety of Latin and classical pieces.
While working in the jungle in Ecuador he became the evening entertainment in the Base Camps. He repeated the same scenario everywhere he worked in tent camps from Honduras to Alaska.
He has played at clubs and lounges all across the continental U.S. and Hawaii, including frequent engagements at the Sheraton Hotel on Kauai.
Raised in Albuquerque New Mexico, he studied classical guitar at the University of New Mexico under Hector Garcia and became friends with Luis Campos -- one of the finest flamenco guitarest of the Southwest.
Dans travels as a helicopter pilot took him to many countries where he had the opportunity to learn and experience the many varieties of guitar styles. He enjoys and has learned many different styles of guitar from Chet Atkins and Jerry Reeds finger style to the most complex flamenco and classical music.
These two albums represent his style of playing and his view of what goes well with the guitar.
"I use bass, vibes, flute, drums and strings primarily, however, I enjoy enhancing the arrangements with scatt vox, blow pipe or anything that fits the mood of the piece. The songs I have chosen for "Soft Romantic Nights" are all my favorites that range from 1928 through the 60s. These are songs with fabulous melodies and interesting structures that never grow old and never disappear. They create that romantic mood that makes you want to slow dance with your sweetheart. Thats why so many well known artists are constantly re-releasing them."
Dan now works from his own studio in northern New Mexico and continues to play ocassionally around the area.

Album Description
In the mood for romance? Dan Shelton's soft Latin guitar rhythms provide the perfect background for a romantic evening or a calming interlude. A combination of Brazilian-style jazz and easy listening, Shelton's ten original compositions showcase his considerable talent on the guitar as well as his ability to compose and arrange a beautiful ear-pleasing mix.Customer Reviews:
Shelton is a fabulous guitarist!.......2001-07-02
All ten songs on this CD are Shelton's own original compositions and I understand he did all the arrangements as well as the guitar leads. My personal favorite is "Without You" but all the songs are great and it's really hard to choose the best. I've also heard him play live, and he can out-perform most any guitarist there is.
If you like intricate guitar pieces, a soft sound with a Latin flair, get this album!
