A very true and funky jazz album.......2004-10-04

I chose this album since the track "Getaway Day" was a song that was sampled by Musiq on his latest project. But after giving Tom Scott's whole CD a listen, I was definitely impressed. It was definitely funky and has its sensual moments as well. A very thorough album which I recommend to any jazz aficianado

Hi Steppin' with Intimate Strangers.......2003-08-29

This is a great album, and a definite must-have for all funky-jazz lovers. The one thing I don't understand is why this amazing album is only available on import from Japan for a fairly large sum of money (on a comparative scale, of course), rather than being a normally priced remaster, widely available in the general public. But really, either way, it's great that this album has finally been brought out on CD.

The opening track within the "Sudden Attraction" suite "Hi Steppers" is an upbeat, yet wonderfully slick song, driven by it's quirky 6/4 tempo. This is the beginning of the Intimate Strangers concept of the "lady in the front row" dream.

Even though Tom's singing on "Do You Feel Me Now" may seem a little scratchy, the transition from "Do You Feel Me Now" to the reprise of "Hi Steppers" is absolutely wonderful.

Regardless of the price, this album is a defintite must-have for anyone who needs to listen to something which actually involves talented muscians.

as along time jazz listner and musician i have searched high and low for this reissue. the personnel on this album(richard tee,steve gadd,gary king,eric gale..)makes it worth its weight in gold.thank you amazon.com

I've search the used bins, super store computer systems etc...for this gem of artistic expression. Intimate Stranger is one of Tom Scotts finest works.I can only reason that the masses did'nt care for it or record company politics keep it off the mainstream shelf.This album is a wonderful piece of fluidity. It flows so smoothly as to be one contiguous set of musical thinking. There is a point where Toms' sax flows undetectablely into a synthesized organ note, unbelieveable! If you let yourself you can truely get lost in the music of this ablum.
