Nice mix/variety of bossa nova standards.......2000-06-17

I'm not usually fond of compilations per se, but I like this one a lot. From Baden Powell's "Tristeza" to Walter Wanderley's "Summer Samba", I think this CD has something for everyone. A nice balance of both instrumentals and vocals in one package!

A brilliant compilation!.......1999-01-05

This is the quintessential entry-level recording for those keen on exploration of not only some of Jobim's greatest tunes, but some of Getz' and Gilberto's finest performances. Nearly every track has you tapping your feet and longing for a martini. Much more should be said about this excellent collection, but I'll leave it to the ears. Buy it!

If this is the best, I'd hate to hear the worst........1999-07-17

A Friend of mine was listening to a tasty jazz CD at work. I asked him what it was and it was "The best of Latin Jazz" I should have checked the label because it was a different album than this one. How disappointing. If you dig Ricky Ricardo playing in a basement with 1930's recording equipment, then this is the disc for you. Where's Carmen Miranda when you need her? A couple of tracks approached cocktail hour banality, and THAT was the best. I want my money back.
