Album style is dated but it is a classic.......2007-03-15

I enjoyed hearing Kentons' aggressive arrangements of Bali Hai, I Love Paris, and others again after many years. Truly a classic, although somewhat commercially compromised CD. I am a high school band director, and my students are playing these two Kenton charts this year (along with several others) - it is really very nice that the original recordings are still avaiable.

One Of His Best.......2005-08-24

This is one of my favorite Kenton albums. Lennie Niehaus, Kenton saxophonist and the arranger of this album, is best known today as Clint Eastwood's music director, composer and arranger on most of his movies. This album of show tunes is more in the swing style, with the traditional Kenton dynamics, than experimental high-flying Johnny Richards flavor. It should appeal to everyone--die-hard Kenton fans and those not familiar with Kenton.
