When this album came out in 1990 it was just about all the Jimmy McGriff that you could buy on CD. The playing on the tracks is great, but even then it was evident that there had been no attempt to enhance the sound during the transfer from vinyl. The tracks were (almost certainly) recorded for Juggy Murray's Sue label during the very early 1960's, and there are, therefore, probably no available master tapes for them.The other disappointment is that there is NO information in the sleeve about the material or where it came from.You're probably better off buying one of the "best of" compilations as a start and then looking out for one of the Sue Records compilations that are available through Amazon, where some of the tracks at least appear in an enhanced condition.These tracks are recommended for Jimmy McGriff completists only.
