The selections on this CD are very relaxing. Great to listen to after a busy day. Their rendition of Puccini's "O Mio Babbino Caro" will bring tears to your eyes. If you like classical flute and guitar, you should enjoy this CD.

Nice...not great.......2006-01-22

I have been a fan of Rosana nevertheless i am more a Pop-Rock Listener, specially because of her deep lirycs.

"La casa del sol", "Agítese antes de usar" and "Sé Feliz...es gratis" are my favorites.

"Soñare" is a very motivational-romatic song with a good rhythm.

She enters in the "bachata" world with "Con el sol en la maleta"

Rosana slowed down too much the music of this CD, it was nice..but not great.

Good, but not great, Compilation of great Disney Songs.......2003-06-20

This compilation of Disney Songs from the 90's to the present time is very good, most of the best Pop latin and international stars sing the original spanish versions of the songs of the best Disney musicals. So far, the track list is as follows:

There is a couple of great songs missing, Luis Miguel's version of "Someday" from the Hunchback of Notre Dame ("Sueña") which is a far better version than the one included on the English soundtrack of the movie and Ricky Martin's version of "Go the Distance" from Hercules, also a better version than the one sung by Michael Bolton. It is, anyway, a great buy for any Disney fan.

The Magic of The Magic of the Clouds.......2006-12-10

I have known Grechuta's songs for some 30 years. Together with Czeslaw Niemen, he is probably the biggest personality of Polish rock of the 70's. He has influenced even the Czechoslovak scene of that time. Although I do not know all of his albums, this one is a real masterpiece. I do not understand Polish very well, but I think the name of the album is Magic of the Clouds. Marek, the singer, has written all the music. The lyrics (as far as I understand beautiful) was delivered various artists. Marek's music does not fit in any of the categories of rock or pop. The band is basically rocky (however, the violin plays also a major role), but the sound is very genuine, and the music is time-to-time influenced by Polish folk music, time-to-time by the French expressive chanson. The (instrumentally outstanding) band was: Jan A. Cichy - bg; Kazimierz Jonkisz - perc; Antoni Krupa - el-g, Piotr Michera - el-v, ac-g; Eugeniusz Obarski - p, perc; Marek Grechuta - voc, p.

The original vinyl LP was issued in 1974 by Polskie Nagrania. The technical quality of all vinyl records by this company was poor, the sound being flat, with bulky hiss in the background. The more I am happy by this CD release in 2000 (by Pomaton / EMI), which is surprisingly clear and beautiful in sound. There are 19 tracks on this CD, 9 of them are complimentary pieces - some of them are interesting alternative versions of the stuff on Magia oblokow (although not superior to the originally issued versions). Tracks 6-9 were originally film music (movie Jastrun). These were united on the LP into the suite Spotkania w casie (Meetings within time), the first 3 of them being instrumental. Marek's songs are highly introspective, maybe his observations from everyday life may address even some philosophical issues. His singing is superficially decent, informal and peaceful (his vocal is not a big one), but you need not understand Polish to see that it is very appealing below the surface (it came to my mind: in a similar way as Leonard Cohen). The tunes of the songs are incredible. Melancholic, romantic, you probably cannot hear the progression of chords elsewhere in the world. The excitement of his music also comes from the repetitive figures a rhythms, which may have a hypnotic effect. To exaggerate a bit: imagine something in between Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, performed by an heir of Chopin.

For me, one the most valuable CD treasures I keep at home (naturally 5 stars) , although it was not easy to obtain it, as this item could not be delivered by Amazon.com into my country (perhaps due to its import status?). Hope that at least in the US you can get it. I guarantee you will not be dissapointed.

UNO DE LOS MEJORES TRABAJOS DE SANDRO.......2005-04-18

Este disco tal vez haya marcado el comienzo de la consagración definitiva de Sandro. Por primera vez, en este disco Sandro ha dejado completamente de lado los "covers" y asumiendo los riesgos, ha incluido unicamente temas en los cuales él es coautor de los mismos junto con el inolvidable Oscar Anderle.
El resultado fue un disco de leyenda, que incluye dos de sus más grandes éxitos de todos los tiempos: "Penumbras" y "Asi".
Este trabajo tambien ha marcado una madurez interpretativa que hace la gran diferencia con respecto a los discos anteriores.
Si bien predominan las baladas con letras melodramáticas, queda en claro que Sandro no se ha olvidado completamente de sus raices rockeras. En efecto, "Yuma Yoe" y "Tengo" tienen alguna reminiscencia de sus primeros discos. También se destacan "Por algún camino", "Me amas y me dejas" y "París ante ti". Los acertados e impecables arreglos musicales a cargo de Jorge Lopez Ruiz han contribuido decisivamente al exito que ha significado en su momento el lanzamiento de este disco, y también de su siguiente album ("Sandro de America"). En suma, es uno de los mejores trabajos de Sandro que tal vez haya marcado el comienzo de su consagración. Vale la pena destacar que en Argentina, cuando este CD fue reeditado, se han incluido dos bonus tracks: una version del clásico de Tom Jones, "Dalila", que había aparecido en su momento unicamente en un EP, y una versión alternativa de "Me amas y me dejas". Sin dudas, una verdadera joya.

Sandro: At his best, no comparison.......1999-09-16

This album contains some of the best music I've ever heard, period. Not just when compared to other hispanic artists, but that of any musician. Other works by Sandro range from being every bit as good as the best titles from this record, to corny, overly melodramatic ballads! His music won't strike you as being immediately different and original the way more modern music does, with it's overdubs and sound effects but rather they draw their strength from a combination of heart-felt, poetic, yet bitter lyrics, powerful orchestral accompaniment, and great melodies.(However, Sandro's attempts at rock are in my opinion, anything but original.) I'm refering strictly to SOME of his love songs such as "Penumbra". A sad, haunting tune about rejection depicted in a unique way because he actually spends most of his composition simply describing the lady in question. Only towards the end does he reveal her indifference towards him as it builds to a big finish! Anyway check this whole album out.

Splendid relaxing CD.......2005-01-31

I am not a guitarist, so I cannot really comment knowledgeably on Gerald Garcia's achievement here, but I feel I must add my voice to those who think this is a splendid CD: Naxos have always been good for a surprise, and I was surprised indeed to find them releasing music like this in 1988! The center of the disc, in more than one sense, is Heitor Villa-Lobos, with Garcia playing all five of his Preludes and his Choro No. 1 (which, due to a printing error on the cover, is accredited to Garcia himself as arranger, but that is not correct, he only arranged the following traditional melodies in the style of Savio). Around this center are arranged pieces by Bonfá, Jobim, Savio, Pernambuco, Almeida, Baden-Powell and Machado - all names that I had never heard of until I purchased this disc out of curiosity. The music is relaxing, only the Villa-Lobos is truly classical, and the sound (the recording was made at a studio in Heidelberg, Germany) is excellent, worthy of a full-price disc. To cap it all, there are Gerald Garcia's own notes giving plenty of background information. You can't go wrong here!

Rhythm is way off........2004-02-24

Great music (but not the jobim pieces). ---Like so many classical guitarists he obviously lacks rhythm- particularly on the *Jobim* pieces. if your releasing a cd of music from brazil and you are a classical guitarist from england you should have more understanding of the music. -However it is only seven bucks and there is some definite magic on this cd.~

This is an exquisitely beautiful album that captures the very essence of Brazil.

Of all the solo guitar albums in my collection, this is the most expressive and poignant.

The performance is masterful, intricate and sensitive. There is a wide mastery of inflection and style.

Gerald Garcia is one of the true masters of solo guitar at any level much less Brazilian. (This album was recorded in 1988.)

So treat yourself to the best 72'46" of listening pleasure.

Bonfa and Jobim: what a double header!.......2001-06-07

I met the two of them in the past. I saw their shows and I bought their recordings. They never disappointed me, on the contrary: I always was amazed by their style and classy quality of sound. Now they return, together, to make us enjoy life in this way and mode: pleasantness in sound. If this would not suffice, there is a bonus, the performance of Gerald Garcia. Splendiferous! GF

He's pretty good!.......2000-07-04

This is a nice C.D. Fans of the Brasilian Classical guitar style will love it. Purists will probably have a lot of trouble with it. Gerald Garcia is from Canada originally (don't quote me on that though) - it seems there are still strong academic overtones in his playing. However, it's a great collection of Brasilian pieces which spans classical composers to Bossa nova and in between. What I like about this album is the fact that most pieces presented by Garcia are his own arrangements. It's truly a unique recording (which is rare in the classical guitar world). His greatest work is on the smaller, traditional Brasilian pieces. These are really charming rustic melodies which were first harmonized by Isaias Savio and very easy to play. But, Garcia takes them to a higher level - more technically demanding without ever losing the essence of the original works. In fact, with all due respect to Mestre Savio, they are great improvements on the originals.

There is a generous number of tracks here, displaying the wealth of work by a great guitarist. More importantly, the repetoire on the album moves away from the standard Albeniz, Granados, Tarrega, Sor collections that so many classical guitarists feel compelled to release. The pieces are probably familiar to most classical guitarists who enjoy playing Brasilian music, but, for those who've never heard or played the works of Almeida, Baden-Powell, Savio or Machado it will be a pleasant surprise. And for people who just like nice music, it will be a fantastic investment.

This is an excellent CD of Lucero, it features her first hits from the 80's at the beginning of her career. I hadn't heard some of these songs for over 20 years, so I felt really happy when I saw this CD. and I just bought it. This is a must for any Lucero fan or those who like 80's Spanish pop.

Fire And Tenderness Indeed!!!.......2004-08-31

This is easily one of the most elongated CD releases ever!! For years,Mexican label Musart Records kept these Lucero songs hidden, in fact many people weren't even aware they existed. But now, they have been released from the vault for our own amusement.

Lucero (or Lucerito as she was originally called) started her singing career in 1982, on the heels of her mega-succesful soap opera "Chispita" (whose theme song was curiously not sung by Lucerito, but rather Timbiriche).She was managed by SERGIO ANDRADE , the infamous man who eventually managed Gloria Trevi, and who both now rest in jail Her first 2 albums "Él" (1982) and "Con Tan Pocos Años" (1983) were more novelty material than sellers, and were deemed nothing more than cute material from Mexico's TV girlie sweetheart.

It wasn't until 2 years later, time in which she did more TV and film work (including "Fiebre De Amor" with another child star who would go on to adult glory, Luis Miguel), that Lucerito finally released material that truly was aimed at the music market. "Magia" (1985) was her best selling album on Musart. On this record, Sergio Andrade was contriving to make a pop record rather than a children's one. The inclusion of dance beats and more "grown up" themes like "Tu Amor Por Un Dia" or "Dame Dame" were made to break Lucerito out of this child image and grow into a young teen queen. And it worked!

All this worked well, but it wasn't until the single "Fuego Y Ternura" was released that Lucerito FINALLY gave people a run for their money. The song proved to be a big pop hit in Mexico, and more importantly becoming a hit all over Latin America and making her prescence known. It was written by the equally amazing underrated and highly ignored Mexican singer/songwriter PRISMA. The beat is reminiscent of "We Belong" by Pat Benatar. The similarities are uncanny, but Lucero's vocals stream along with the subtle music track. And like "We Belong", the song is quiet, but kicks in with a full band in the chorus. This is one of Lucero's finest moments, and I am glad that it is finally available again and came out of the darkness.

Lucerito finally released her last album on Musart "Un Pedacito De Mi"(1986), but it failed due to the fact that Sergio Andrade was fired as her manager and Lucerito went on and signed with another label, where she would truly be established as a house known name in the music scene.

This CD is a great trip thru Lucero's beginnings and also a key reminder about just how much of a great singer this girl is. Even at a tender age of 12, did she sound beautiful on the lovely balllad "Con Tan Pocos Años". Perfect pitch and inflection, here we can see that Lucero was honestly born to sing.

This CD is also a steal, being priced so cheaply and carrying quality music. Get it while it's out, and perhaps we can hope for Musart to release more of her material.

got this album and love every singel song. in my opinion, "tierra sin sol" is the best song. but i also like "nunca imagine, Un Amor Verdadero, and Loco Enamorado"

Super Great Cd.......2004-11-20

I would like to start my off by saying that I have know Jerry Rivera Since 1998 and I think he is a fanstic singer. He makes very nice music and puts hes heart and soul into it.

I used to have a greatest hits cd from Jerry which was hes Ultimate 22 Hits. Which is a series. But I put it in the trash can because I decided to get all hes cds and this is my 5 cd from Jerry Rivera. I picked it up in my local Walmat for only 6.96. And I did know 2 of the songs as I listend to the cd but they are all fansitic. Its and old cd. 1995. But it was well worth the price I paid. And this cd is well worth 5 stars. Like the other reviewer said its magic. Thank you.

"Magia, tus labios tienen magia..." Magic, your lips have magic. Lyrics like that and many more about love and romance make this album another smashing album by Jerry. The album starts out strong and finishes even stronger with "Tierra sin Sol," one of the many great songs on this album. Jerry even delivers a song, "Gracias," about giving thanks to God for his life, family, and his culture. You can't get any better than that. The most memorable tracks to me are "Magia," "Amor Magico," and "Tierra sin Sol." But to be honest they all jam and if you don't have this album you need to get it. It's about love and romance, what else do you want. Get it!
