There was a time when it wasn't cool for South American pop-rockers to appreciate the folklore of their native lands. Musically speaking, England and the U.S. were the places to be. But in the mid-'90s, Colombian actor-turned-singer Carlos Vives changed all that by blending foreign rock idioms with hot local styles such as cumbia and vallenato. These innovations are a given for 24-year-old Cabas, who, like his fellow countryman Vives, relishes in equal measure the opportunity to perform a rootsy porro ("La Cantaleta") or a sinuous bit of--in his own words--electronica-friendly porno-pop ("Tu Boca"). Throughout this infectious debut album, the Barranquilla-born Cabas engineers clever sonic collisions between the clarinets, tiples, and tamboras of his native land and the highly combustible touches of the electric guitars and Hammond organ he grew up listening to. Better yet, Cabas has a knack for coming up with infectious pop hooks and playful, easy-to-hum lyrics, as in the bona fide hit single "Mi Bombon." Great Colombian Artist!.......2005-08-03

First saw the video for "Mi Bombon" on Link TV (www.linktv.org). This CD contains 3 versions of "Mi Bombon" (just in CASE you can't get enough of it - like me!) - a regular version, salsa version, and the video. Other songs have variety and great beats too. The ballad "Tu Boca" contains instruments not usually heard in American pop ballads (bonus video of that song too!). Touching on ballads, Latin, and rock, this is a great CD for those who like Latin music.

Suficiente se ha dicho por la otra gente sobre este disco. Pero lo que no han dicho es que uno no tiene que ser un fanatico de la musica Colombiana para poder amar a este disco. Por lo opuesto, me intereso a mi mas en la musica de ese pais.
La mezcla de instrumentos es increible. Si Cabas puede sacar mas musica de esta calidad, se convertira en una legenda de la musica.

GOTTA HAVE SOME CABAS IN YOUR HEAD!!!.......2003-08-14

I bought this CD while vacationing in Colombia (that was about 2 years ago) and have not stopped playing it since!! The amazing ethnic sounds along with the electric guitar makes this CD the best exponent of Colombia's costeno culture and today's sounds. I love every single one of the songs. The drums makes your skin glow. Listening to Andres's sounds is like a religious and erotic experience. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE COLOMBIAN ARTISTS THAT CONTINUE TO SHOW THE WORLD THE BEAUTY OF OUR COUNTRY! Thank you for keeping us close to our culture from the distance.

Cabas is back with his heart offered to the people. This CD is so much better made than his first CD. He combines great rythms from cumbia to reggaeton. Favorite songs are Guacamaya, La Cadena de Oro, Likua. Vale la pena comprarlo y gozarlo.

ANOTHER AWESOME CD!.......2005-03-08

I loved the first CD, and I loved this one too!! Cabas is now more relaxed and experiments a lot more with different sounds, also moves toward hard rock in a couple of songs... I truly enjoyed all the songs, and liked the fact that Cabas is not into this for the sales, or to please critics...he just goes where he feels like going, and we all follow...
Truly a good driving/partying cd! ANOTHER COLOMBIAN ARTIST SHOWING THE WORLD A DIFFERENT AND BEAUTIFUL SIDE OF OUR COUNTRY...GOOD WORK!

Relleno / pure filler material.......2004-10-24

Lastima. Sacar un CD de puro relleno dos anos despues de haber sacado un disco fantastico. Es bueno para sonar en acensores.

Too bad. Having produced a great CD a couple of years ago, Cabas has now followed it with a CD chuck full of filler material. Redundant same sounding bland stuff. Makes for great music to be heard on an elevator.

Este disco esta SUPER!! Cabas es uno de los artistas mas originales del mercado en este momento! Este chico es super joven y talentoso! Escribe sus propias canciones y verlos en VIVo es un SHOW TOTAL!! Se entrega a su musica con mucho amor y passion! QUE VIVA CABAS!!! Me encanta TODO el disco, en mi opinion este segundo material esta mejor (a mi gusto) que el primero, aunque el primero esta muy bien, pero ESTE ME FASCINA!! En especial la numbero 3 (Bizco) Contacto, Adentro, y el dueto con Bunbury estan super!! definitivamente vale la pena comprar este disco!!

a mí tampoco me gustó este último disco. los ritmos son demasiado monótonos. el primer disco de cabas es ORO. éste, desafortunadamente, no tiene el mismo swing ni el sentimiento del anterior. parece ser que este disco lo sacó a la maldita sea sin meterle tanto amor como lo hizo con el primer album. éste no lo recomendaría. el primer disco es mil veces mejor.

Cabas' time has come!.......2007-04-26

This practically unknown Beef Cake (in North America) is outstanding! I don't even speak the language, but his soulful,sexy voice and sound sweep me away into the most beautiful sounds and rythms I have heard. What is wrong with this picture???? I don't even hear this outstanding artist on the Latino stations!! Wake up people and get this guy on the air in N. America! And move over Ricky Martin, Justin Timberlake, and etc.!
