Fantastic "despair and sadness" work by Howard.......2003-07-11
I really appreciate his Howard's use of low volumes to convey his thoughts. He fully understands that pianissimo (pp) can hit just as hard as a full throttled forte (fff).
Although the music and concept deserve a five star rating, the record company really [disappointed] the buyers by only including 29 minutes on the disc. This, sadly, makes this THE SHORTEST soundtrack I own and one of the THE SHORTEST soundtracks on the market. :(

Sixth Sense mogie.......2004-11-07
featuring Lee, Jackie Mclean, Cedar Walton, Billy Higgins.
notables are "Psychedelic" and "The cry of the people", a nice range of music on this album. If You like "Lee Morgan" You want this album in the collection, also check out "Charisma" from 1966, and of course early stuff like candy, the cooker, leeway, and all the art blakey era.
Also worth noting that no matter who Lee played for, he is always listed first in order of musicians, with the exception of "Bluetrain" where Coltrane is listed first.

Product Description
Russian band with a variable number of musicians, LITTLE TRAGEDIES was born from the will of composer and musician Gennadi ILYIN to experiment new musical expression forms. More particularly, his art could be described as an hybrid mixture of Seventies-like Progressive rock, fusion jazz-rock and contemporary classical musics. The whole thing played through vintage keyboards reminding of the seventies, but especially with an obvious Slavonic personality. Released in 2005 by the Musea label, "Return" is the third and certainly the best work of LITTLE TRAGEDIES. Like the previous albums, the latter was inspired by poems of Nicolai GUMILEV and sung in Russian. The eleven titles have a style close to that of EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER, with an impressive musical virtuosity and a strong originality. Here is a fantastic concept-album of powerful neo-classical rock, rich in diversity and intensity, filled with feverish and enthusiast instrumental sequences. This absolutely needs to be discovered ! Only a few weeks were needed, after the ambitious conceptual double-CD "New Faust" (2006), for the new opus "The Sixth Sense" to be published. It shows an incredible progression, with a much more varied inspiration. Apart from EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER and the classical composers, one could think of PINK FLOYD, GENESIS ou FOCUS, with the characteristic sound of the Russian bands. The music is a brilliant mix of rock, classical music and jazz, with heavy-metal traces in some guitar riffs. Keyboards parts are very keen on Seventies sounds. If the vocals are in Russian, the music is mostly instrumental, played with brio and carefully produced. An excellent album !

FANS ONLY!!!.......2005-10-27
But our time is more tabloid than ever. I hope it passes someday. What major American people are interested in is publicity whores and tabloid gossips instead of the real music. They consume music as if they are changing their sheets. It is nothing to be ashamed of, yet it is not classy.
Thalia is a unique artist who can sing. Yet, Thalia has always been some kind of "ignoring" about her career. She tries to be everything at the same time. She triest to show that she is in to all the things that a mainstream artist is; singing, acting, commercials, products, materials. But, Thalia also is an artist that does not care about her career. Since 2002, Thalia's products of art are less of her focus than her publicity stuff.
Thalia started to turn-out to be a wannabe in 2003 and left her unique, classy, characteristic Latin style. 2003 release "Thalia" album (a/k/a English Crossover) was EMI's J.Lo wannabe insert; and now "The Sixth Sense (a/k/a El Sexto Sendito)" is half breed with Shakira and J.Lo.
Well, saying this doesn't make me lose my fame of being a Thalia Fan. But, objectivity is the key to scientificity. Thalia's album does not derive attention from zero beginner fans. Lyrics are not catchy, music is not giving, stories behind the lyrics do not compile with Thalia's own life... So, in the world of 2000's artists like Thalia should learn and revise themselves in order to get back their uniqe place in the more than honored and elite Latin music industry.
To try to CROSS OVER brings along the crash down. If you take it as a natural step and fill the SENSE of what you say, you sell approximately 14 million albums worldwide, as Shakira did. People smell the "production" these days, and "Sixth Sense" is nothing to do with Thalia or her anyways possible sense of sixth. Album is essential for fans, 'coz it's a selection item; yet don't get mad at me because the music is not AA stuff. It's like a BB or at most BA.
Rated by me FOR FANS ONLY.
+ PLUS!!! EMI should learn to develop their strategies because they remained so 90's in the industry. A total marketing ERROR.
My favorite tunes in this album is "Loca", "Un Alma Sentenciada", "You Know He Never Loved You" and "Seduction". Yet, all in all, I bought this version of "El Sexto Sendito" just because I wanted to have an official copy of "Amar Sin Ser Amada (Raggaeton Remix) featuring Hector El Bambino" and "Amar Sin Ser Amada" - "You Know He Never Loved You" videos. 'Coz, in my country and on amazon.com they did not sell "Amar Sin Ser Amada" Single CD. So, I had no way out to buy this EXPENSIVE version. For economy savers, "El Sexto Sendito" (CD+DVD) version would do the same. (I OWN BOTH)
Great album with lyrics!.......2005-08-24

"I'm proud to announce the release of my new studio CD MADLY OUT THE CABIN DOOR.. This is my second solo recording, although I've released over 15 others with Storyhill, Sixth Sense, and 2 Forms of ID. Many of the songs on 'MADLY...' were written while on songwriting retreats in the mountains of Montana. It includes a host of musicians on harmony vocals, bass, guitar, Hammond organ, and fiddle. The original artwork was painted by my co-producer Michael Blessing, who colorfully conveyed the messages within the songs. I hope you enjoy it!" -Chris

The straight-ahead style that had long characterized Blue Note records was going into eclipse in 1967 when Lee Morgan made The Sixth Sense. But the trumpeter was the style's master, mating forceful tunes and complex rhythms with an uncompromising directness. His lines always sound perfectly continuous with his thought, from clarion assertions to muffled, half-valve asides. The sextet is an excellent one, with Jackie McLean on alto and Cedar Walton on piano, while drummer Billy Higgins adds the verve that distinguished so many of Morgan's best records (including, of course, Sidewinder). Added to these luminaries is tenor saxophonist Frank Mitchell, then a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, the same institution of higher learning from which the others had graduated. Mitchell soon faded into obscurity, but he was a striking presence here, with an approach very much like McLean's--terse, metallic, and intense. It adds a distinctive edge to both his solos and the ensembles. The group has a knack for strong rhythmic grooves, with the backbeat of "Psychedelic" recalling such Morgan-Higgins collaborations as "Sidewinder" and "Rumproller." Cedar Walton's "Afreaka" has sustained power, while Cal Massey's "The City of My People" is elegiac neogospel with beautiful, muted trumpet. The CD adds three tracks from an unreleased 1968 quintet session on which Morgan, Mitchell, and Higgins are joined by pianist Harold Mabern and bassist Mickey Bass for some equally convincing hard bop. --Stuart BroomerCustomer Reviews:
Superb Late Bop.......2002-04-25
Warm confident tone, tight phrasing, lyrical melodic vocabulary, tasteful voicing--what more can you ask for? It is a terrible loss to music and the world that he--like so many of the jazz giants--died so young.
This CD version is a delight from beginning to end, and a good value with the bonus non-LP tracks. If you like Sixties bop and/or Lee Morgan I don't see how you can miss.
The Sixth Sense.......2001-02-11
Eggselent set of tunes.......2000-07-25
Brilliant performer, pedestrian composer.......2000-03-04
I just rec'd "The Sixth Sense" and gave it my first listen. Once again, Lee demonstrates incredible chops on his horn, but many of the songs themselves are simply not that interesting.
If you're a committed Morgan admirer, the disk is worth owning. If you like the bebop or hard bop styles and wish to sample some of his finer moments, check out "Sidewinder" or "Infinity". Better yet, delve into the sounds of his tenure w/ Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.
Lee Morgan + Wayne Shorter = pure bliss.
