There's no grand, large-scale music on this exceptional disc--only psalms and hymns for soprano, tenor, bass and strings in various combinations. Typical of the music are three settings of "Confitebor tibi, Domine" (Psalm 110): a jaunty but graceful setting for soprano and tenor, with athletic runs and a gorgeous slow ending; a moderate but charged setting for three voices, each singer delivering a verse in turn before joining dramatically at "sanctum et terribile" ("holy and terrible"); and a setting for soprano and strings combining enchanting delicacy with astonishing virtuosity. That description fits the singing of Emma Kirkby perfectly here; Ian Partridge and David Thomas make ideal partners. After fifteen years in release, this remains one of the best Monteverdi records in the catalog. --Matthew Westphal

From Regular Cumbia to Cumbia House.......1999-12-14

This is a must have for any Latin DJ and latin music lover. Escandalo, El Cuco, Mil Horas, and Que Nadie Vea Mi Sufrif are my personal favorites. The beat is good and it's about time something with a better Latin House Rhythm hits the street. If you like cumbia muzik and house muzik, you'll definitely like this one.

One of the recordings of the century!!!.......2005-03-05

If any music has ever moved you to tears or if anything touches your soul at the sound of a silvery high soprano voice then this is it!!! This is indeed a remarkable collection of mozart, liszt and mussorgsky arias. I can only think of a selected few other recordings that transport you to high heavens!!!; Kiri te Kanawa's 1983 mozart aria recording with davis or her solo in the brahms german requiem with solti and joan sutherlands' epic debut and double album recording comes to mind. The voice is faultless, the style regal, the delivery precise, the intonation astonishing, the interpretaion magical and the effect undescribable. This is singing of the highest merit. There is no scooping or straining- the voice flows freely. The voice is recorded at its freshest and the earliest item on this recording comes from her wigmore recital in 1971. A truly remarkable demonstration of technique- the highlight has to go to the items by liszt. I understand that this collection does not include the full recital and it is a great pity and a crime that it is not available. The others are mozart arias that has rarely ever been sung with such beauty and finesse. This has to be ranked along with her recording of cosi fan tutte by klemperer as one of the most cherishable in history. Can't be missed!!! Thank goodness that RCA is re-releasing the mozart arias from this recording but it still does not include some of the concert arias or all the items from any of the other composers mentioned. If recording companies can only get their act together !!!.

Maravilloso Album!!!.......2006-01-07

Honestamente creo que la gente no sabe lo que es buena musica si no compran este C.D. Para ser su primer disco, Gio muestra mucho talento y tremenda potencia vocal. Gio es en verdad un orgullo para los Dominicanos! Aqui les tengo una lista de cada cancion y lo que pienso de ellas:

1. Señora [Balada]5/5 - Una bella cancion que habla de un rompimiento dificil de aceptar.
2. Mi Vida No Es Vida Sin Ti 5/5 - Una balada con unas letras preciosas que trata de no poder seguir viviendo sin una persona especial.
3. Ven Tu 5/5 - Bachata convertida en balada de el Dominicano y Puertorriqueño Dominic Marte. Gio hace un magnifico trabajo con su voz y su manera de adaptar esta balada a su estilo.
4. Ella 5/5 - Unas de mis favoritas en el album. Tiene unas letras preciosas y la voz unica de Gio le da el toque especial.
5. Te Quiero Ver 4/5 - Una mezcla de Reggaeton y Bachata. Una cancin de letras bonitas. El coro te da ganas de bailar.
6. No Me Hace Falta Nada Mas 5/5 - Una cancion que habla de la relacin perfecta entre un hombre y una mujer.
7. Lograre 5/5 - Una cancion que le levanta los espiritus a los que sienten que no pueden alcanzar una meta o estar con la persona que aman.
8. Duele 4/5- Una cancion que toca la triste realidad que sucede en muchas relaciones cuando la rutina lo arruina todo.
9. Solo No Estoy (Te Tengo A Ti) 4/5 - Esta cancion se puede interpretar de una manera amorosa, de amistad o hasta familiar. Se trata de siempre tener a alguien a tu lado que te apoya.
10. Hola 4/5 - Una cancion que trata de lo que sucede cuando una persona quiere re-establecer la comunicacion con su ex. Tiene letras muy lindas y "laid-back".
11. No Hay Sueño 1/5 - La cancion que menos me gusta. Creo que el C.D. fuera casi perfecto si no tuviera esta cancion incluida.
12. Señora [Salsa] 4/5 - En mi opinion, la balada es mucho mejor que esta version. Siento que esta cancion tambien debio de ser excluida del C.D.

If you dont buy any other CDs this season... it really won't matter. This compilation takes Latin House to the next level, and into the new millenium. This CD kicks some serious colita! Beats are bangin' like they never have in the past. The little samples from old school salsa records aren't present here.... only kics hard bangin' house... A definite MUST HAVE!!!
