This stirring collection of mariachi classics will likely be appreciated by aficionados of the genre, but it's also a familiar treat for most anyone who has ever been to a Mexican-style wedding, birthday party or even a bustling restaurant. Llegaron Los Camperos! highlights a slew of instantly recognizable classics, all expertly performed by Nati Cano's Mariachi Los Camperos. It's a follow-up to 2002's acclaimed Viva el Mariachi. Cano's group is arguably the foremost interpreter of mariachi music in the U.S., and this ten-track collection showcases the booming voices, precise instrumentation and thrilling harmonies that are the ensemble's hallmarks. Cano and Los Camperos weave their way through a carefully assembled group of common-theme medleys, including "Jalisco," "Jose Alfredo Jimenez" and "Michoacan." Every moment on this disc sparkles with immediacy, and it's all anchored by a Los Camperos’ clear love of the genre. --Joey Guerra

These guys are simply the best Mariachi band in the U.S... and truly give Mariachi Vargas a run for their money. Unfortunately their recordings are not as good as their live performances in which they routinely grant us some surprises like "Orange Blossom Special", "Caravan" or "Nereidas".
