Jack Jezzro has over 100 albums to his credit, a Grammy nomination, and four Dove award nominations. His projects have collectively sold over 7 million copies. Besides being an accomplished guitarist, composer, and producer, Jezzro is a noted bassist as part of the Nashville String Machine. Pure instrumental magic!.......2007-06-13

The purchase of this CD was highly recommended by a fellow member of Yahoo's "Beautiful Instrumentals Group." Containing several formerly unavailable on CD selections, this album is pure instrumental magic! For example, some of you may recall Monte Kelly's mid-1950s rendition of "Tropicana," from the LP of the same name, and other songs from that collection. They are here at last! I have been waiting since CDs came out to see "Tropicana" and many other "magical instrumentals" from the US and Europe finally appear on CD, and this is the first in a series of new CDs produced by Nick Acquaviva to hit the market that feature these wonderful instrumentals. I highly recommend that anyone who loves classic instrumental check this and the entire series out. You will not be disappointed!

This is a beautiful piece of work..so beautiful and relaxing..I can't find enough colorful words to describe the CD...When..I heard it..I simply had to have it.. right then and now..This CD simply transcends "Time", whether past present or future...its one of a kind..

I treated myself to it..and can't listen to anything else..and I consider myself a musical gurue..without a doubt...

Album Description

This recording was Inspired by an experience with cancer patients. Music by Myron McDonald (Ambivalence), Nicholas Weber (The Clock), John Pierce (Rain, Joplin in Rio, Chorinho, Dances by Moonlight), Paul Clancy (Southern Suite, Reflections of a Night), Enrique Granados (Danza Española #5) and Francisco Tarrega (Recuerdos de la Alhambra)

Rapidly becoming recognized as one of the most exciting new talents on the international music scene, Susan McDonald has given concerts in a wide variety of venues, from community colleges to Carnegie Hall Her audiences have ranged from the elderly residents of a Viennese nursing home to the President of the United States, and her music has been enthusiastically received in concert halls, outdoor festivals, universities, libraries, museum, and numerous other venues.

A native of Texas, Susan McDonald began playing the guitar at the age of seven. As a teenager she became the student of Pepe Romero, with whom she studied intensively in the United States and in Europe. Public appearances soon followed with concerts in Texas, Florida, California and New York. She has given concerts in South America, Europe, throughout the United States and in Canada, where in 1992 she did a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts. She has played for radio and television broadcasts in the United States, Germany, Austria and Equador.

Her recording of the Carmen Miranda standard "Tico-Tico" was chosen by the German newspaper Welt am sonntag as one of the "Classical Top-Ten of the Week." Susan McDonald has premiered works by many contemporary composers, including Edgar Cortes, Hampton Burt, Rodrigo Rodrigues, Myron McDonald, Paul Clancy and John King. She self-produced four CDs, two of which, "The Cathedral" and "Comfort," were nominated for Grammy awards.

Album Description

This is a recording of twenty-three romantic vintage songs from the concert hall and musical theater which were immensely popular with American audiences from the late nineteenth century through the l940s and were associated with the well-known baritones of their time such as Lawrence Tibbett and Nelson Eddy. These are songs of love, the sea, adventure!

The songs in this collection are sung by Steven Rainbolt, baritone, expertly accompanied by Robert Muckenfuss, piano. The vintage bravura and love songs in this recording showcase the vibrant warmth and rich timbre of Steven Rainbolt's robust baritone singing. Here he has invested songs of a bygone American era with an insightfully expressive understanding of the lyrics. His performance is at once stirring and beautiful, creating music that lingers in the mind to please heart and soul long after listening.

Steven Rainbolt has the most beautiful baritone voice-warm and rich and compelling. And the familiar, old-time songs he is singing here are of such variety anyone could find something to love, whether it's a heartfelt, poignant romantic melody or a rousing, spirited sea song. I love this CD!!! There's song for every mood and each one is a treasure.

The "Classical Singer" review [April 2001] praising this beautifuly sung and accompanied music piqued my interest--a baritone, a piano, fine old classic American songs! I ordered it and have enjoyed it very much. Steven Rainbolt has a wonderfully rich and expressive, robust, lyrical, at times heartbreakingly tender, baritone voice with thrilling resonance---nothing bland about it! His voice is well-suited to the twenty-three romantic songs of love, the sea, adventure in this recital. This is not background music for a party. Rainbolt's singing is far too compelling. You will want to savor every nuance of his singing without interruption. There is music here that will move you deeply such as "When I Have Sung My Songs to You." There is music here that will remind you of what love is meant to be in selections such as "Beautiful Dreamer" (the artist's own arrangement and the best I've heard), "My Lady Walks in Loveliness," "Sylvia," "If I Could Tell You," and "Who Are We To Say?" His deeply resonant "Shenandoah" is classic! Rainbolt's impeccable diction gives life and meaning to each word, sensitively enhancing the lyrics. Dramatic and spirited songs of adventure (the rogue songs)such as "Song of the Vagabonds" showcase a voice clearly also at home in operatic roles. You will find yourself humming the delightful Rudyard Kipling poem "Rolling Down to Rio" with its marvelously rippling accompaniment. There is much here to please those who love the sea. "Trade Winds" is lovely, a sailor's tender lullaby! The piano accompaniment for each song is delightful, superb! I liked the artist's program notes and having the words to the songs included in the CD booklet. This CD compares quite favorably to Thomas Hampson's "An Old Song Resung."

Beautiful Melodic Music! Unforgettable Voice!.......2001-04-16

These heritage songs gave me infinitely more than an hour of great listening. They stirred my heart--especially the love songs. The sincere tenderness and depth of emotion in Steven Rainbolt's very moving voice coupled with beautiful melodies and poetic words conspire to create music that shows my generation just how impoverished we are when it comes to love songs. The songs on this CD focus on what love can give. The songs of my generation by comparison all too often focus instead on what love can get, with love itself reduced to little more than a longing for instant self-gratification--the tuneless pounded message of rock and rap. The wonderful classic love songs here can't be topped for emotional appeal and food for the soul!
