If there is a singer on earth with such poetic lyrics, it's Silvio. if there is such a great CD, it's this one. From the great meaning of Cancion del Eligido, to the poetic Ojala passing through the song of The CD's name, this is one of the greaterst Cd's he's done Here is a rating for each song

Aunque no este de moda: Just listen and you'll see how excellent it is Que se puede ser con el amor: A song that can even guide you on your own love, a must Al final de este viaje: No wonder why it gave the Cd its name it's such a great song. As you can see i love all the songs in this Cd, as you would say in spanish, PURA VIDA, SILVIO ES EL GENIO. He's one of the only living musical geniuses. This Cd is niot worth 5 stars but 5 million stars

Es sólo un músico en el disco, pero la expresión lograda del artista es muy buena, ya que logra hacer algo muy agradable y rico en sonidos con sus guitarras. Me agrada la música de este tipo ya que sin la exageración de arreglos orquestales logra comunicar muchas emociones y muestra su riqueza musical sin el uso o abuso de recursos que no posee. Una forma muy sincera de expresarse, por sí mismo.

This is one of the first album of Silvio. It is an exceptional CD, and it's hard to stop listening to it...
The lyrics are especially beautiful, very political, but you will enjoy the poetry and the music even if you do not agree with Silvio very leftist stand.

It is now my fourth Silvio CD and I don't regret the purchase... I am looking forward to buy Silvio's new album "Expedicion" where he experiments with an orchestra!

Definitivamente este disco es uno de los grandes de Silvio. Toda su obra es definitivamente trascendental; sus letras llegan hasta las fibras más profundas del ser humano. Conozco este disco desde hace más de 20 años y siempre que lo escucho evoco tiempos, memorias. Sus letras y su música son una verdadera joya.

Silvio, so much more than great lyrics........2001-10-29

Silvio Rodriguez is that strangest of beasts: the truly great musician that deserves his reputation as the greatest songwiter of his generation. To my mind, in the last 50 years only Lucio Dalla in Italy, Georges Brassens in France and Bob Dylan in Rock have achieved the same level of musical achievement and popular success that Silvio got in the 70's. Silvio's first four albums (and this is one of them) are nothing short of revelatory.

And yet, to say that it's only the lyrics that matter is to miss most of Silvio. Take Leo Browner, Cuba's greatest classical composer of the second half of the last century. Browner said that it was unfair, after decades of training to be a composer to find someone like Silvio who effortlessly writes better music than you can ever dream of putting together. Or Joe Sixpack's Website. On that website dedicated to world music, lyrics rank very low. Joe's very critical of highly regarded musicians like Milton Nascimento, Djavan and Pablo Milanes; musicians that write wonderful lyrics but very conventional, plain music in their songs. But when it comes to Silvio, he is ranked among the two or three best things that popular music has to offer. On the same level as Stevie Wonder in his prime in the mid-70's. And Joe's selling Silvio short.

This album includes Una mujer con sombrero, Ojala and Cancion para el elegido. Lyrics that you'll never forget, music that will haunt you and guitar-playing that will amaze you. Those are the Pros. Theres one Con. The album has subdued, subtle arrangements; I needed a couple of listenings to begin to get into the beauty the songs.

Sorprende la inmediatez de estas canciones, su urgente belleza y su palabra rabiosa...edicion que reune temas de silvio correspondientes a finales de los '60 y principios de la decada venidera..con mas de 30 años, sus versos siguen latiendo actuales, hirientes y verdaderos...el pintor de las mujeres soles se nos revela aqui como un poeta incandescente, herido de compromiso, con la revolucion aun en las venas, el amor desaforado..y quizas la mas hermosa cancion de amor no correspondido(ojala)...no dejes de refugiarte en esta placa, no dejes de escucharla, no dejes de recomendarla!!!
