A year after its original release, Thalia's solid El Sexto Sentido disc gets a facelift. Funny thing is, this Re+Loaded version actually improves upon its mostly successful predecessor. The nips and tucks have made it a smoother, more unified effort. Gone is Thalia's playful take on Tejano icon Selena's "Amor Prohibido." Any trace of English-language material--three songs in total--has also been removed. It's all replaced by a quartet of high-caliber Spanish-language work that makes Re+Loaded worth the double purchase. "Cantando Por un Sueno" is a self-affirming, fist-pumping anthem; and "La Super Chica" is an affecting moment of alt-girl pop power with a hint of 80's nostalgia. Best of the bunch is "No, No, No," a glittering, break-up bachata duet featuring Aventura member Anthony "Romeo" Santos. It's one of the disc's best moments, alongside the still-affecting "Seduccion," "Olvidame" and "No Puedo Vivir Sin Verte." Also included is a sweeping club remix of the ballad "Un Alma Sentenciada," courtesy of renowned DJ duo Hex Hector and Mac Quayle. --Joey Guerra
Customer Reviews:
hey?.......2007-04-27
I wonder why amazon did not publish the first review I've had with this album. Anyway, perhaps I was too harsh on her. Again, as I said before, the songs are good, but they are not for Thalia. Thalia sings great when she sings low because she can make her voice stronger and fuller, as in her previous albums like "Amor a la Mexicana," and "Arrasando." She is a mezzo soprano, she's no Maria Carey so it seems that she is forcing herself when she sings high notes (Olvidame, Amar sin ser Amada), which as a previous reviewer mentioned, can be quite annoying. Besides, this and the previous album "Thalia" (spanish one, not the crossover), marked her transition from latin pop-infected grooves to more universal American pop-rock music, which in my opinion, does not truly reflect her abilities as a singer and an entertainer. I've always considered her as an ambassador of latin american (mexican) language and culture to countries located as far as in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, so it's regretful that she would shift her music towards generic pop-rock.
EXCELENT ALBUM.......2007-02-08
THIS ALBUM IS THE BEST!!! I LIKE ALL THE SONGS, IN SPECCIALLY, "NO,NO,NO" FEAT AVENTURA, I THINKS THAT IS THE BEST SONG OF THE YEAR. UN ALMA SENTENCIADA AND OLVIDAME IS THE BEST BALLAD FOR THIS DISC. AND SEDUCCION IS GREAT TOO. I THINKS THAT THIIS IS THE BEST ALBUM FROM YEAR
A remake? A remake of what?.......2007-02-03
Ok, somebody nees to tell EMI that what they're trying to do with Thalia is a)pushing her fans away and b)makes new, potential fans dislike her.
What is this? Sixth sense was pop enough and now a reloaded version with four songs? Why couldn't they just fit them in the next album?
From the new songs, La Super Chica has an interested feel of piano jazz (something from the cult Tori Amos fashion) and could be quite entertaining. Cantando por un sueno is nicely sang, the music is nice but I did find the lyrics slightly egocentric.Luckily, the tacky english versions of the Sexto Sentido are absent.
I always found Thalia's voice texture powerful and special, and I found her music aesthetically entertaining up to the Tu Y Yo album. Her lyrics were always cute and decent and her music had something that mainstream pop albums don't- perhaps the fact that I'm European makes latin sound exotic to my ears, as opposed to RnB, hip hop and the latest pop fashions a la Jessica Simpson. She was my number one choice when it came to party/ vivid material, but the way her studio is turning her into a product for mass consumption is not of my immediate taste.
why .......2006-10-15
listen, I have am not one to be a critic to spanish music because I got to enjoy this music in the latter years of 90's. me I now enjoy music from al genres that I can understand the language. saying this I say in anylanguage thalia either needs to get back to her roots and make what made her famous...to date her best album was and still is Amor a la mexicana. that is the thalia I know, this pure garbage unloaded, reloaded or super loaded. she can package it anyway she wants this album is and always will be garbage.
Excellent Thalia.......2006-09-18
The new songs added in El Sexto Sentido are maginificent. Good Job. If only there were more songs. You know how (we)your fans are greedy. Keep up the good work.I just wonder why did you remove some of the tracks that were in the original album and not put them in the Reloaded version?

Thalia is back in her element--thank goodness--on El Sexto Sentido, her return to a Spanish-language studio album after a gap of three years. The Mexican mogul faltered on her 2003 English-language debut, which was overproduced yet undernourished in terms of showcasing the fiesty, fun persona that has made her a star. El Sexto Sentido finds the singer returning to form, even if it's not as smashing a success as previous discs Amor a la Mexicana and Arrasando. There's still plenty to like, including the rock-tinged "Amar Sin Ser Amada" and "24,000 Besos," originally an Italian pop hit. Much of the album is sprinkled with electronic dance grooves ("Seduccion," "Un Sueno Para Dos"), but there's also a trio of sterling ballads ("Olvidame," "No Puedo Vivir Sin Verte," "Un Alma Sentenciada") that showcase Thalia's growing skills as a vocal interpreter. El Sexto Sentido also includes Thalia's coquettish take on Tejano icon Selena's "Amor Prohibido" (originally included on Selena Vive!). Three English-language tracks find Thalia improving on--but still not quite mastering--her English. Guess you can't have it all.--Joey Guerra

Trashy-Naca-Chopa.......2006-10-13
Every year Thalia becomes more "Naca" than ever.
That song with Aventura singer is the worst I have heard.
A shame, after her CD "Love", she did all comercial trash.
Give it up.......2006-06-21
Not even Tommy could save this CD. Think her singing career is over. This album is over produced.
VERY GOOB CD NOT THAT BEST..!!!!!!!!!!1.......2006-05-04
YES I LOVE THALIA BUT I GUESS THIS CD IS NOT THAT BEST BUT IS VERY GOOB TO HEAR IT..........ALOT OF VERY GOOB SONG "ALMA SENTENCIADA",BUT I LIKE MORE IN DANCE MIX, AND IN REGGAETON.
"SEDUCCION",AND MORE, I GUESS SHE CAN REALLY SING SHE DID IT IN SELENA VIVE IN LIVE AND IN LATIN GRAMMY 2003 TOO.......!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT I BEEN TWO YEAR AGO IN THALIA TOUR IN NY. AND SHE DID PLAYBACK" I HOPE IN THIS NEW TOUR NOT "PLAYBACK"........AND MORE DANCE ......YOU GO THALIA ............IF YOU IN LOVE BUY THIS CD........IF U NOT BUY IT TOO........IS GREAT.......
Que Pasa, Thalia?.......2006-03-13
I think this album sucks. Except for Sabe bien. Which is the only non old sounding song of the lot. Thalia needs to move out of the eighties with her muusic and into the new milleum. At least f she is going to make something sound eighties , which 24,0000 mil besos sounds she should update the sound a bit. She needs some innovations. She cannot survive in the past and she is struggling to find he footing in the present. Does she want to sing rock? pop? baladas? She needs someone one her side that can combine what she likes, namely rock, with what she is good at-POP! Shakira has been successful at doing this, but thaly needs to find her own angle to work. Estefano is Ok, but it seems like hes's working faithful with whatever she divulges about her life insetad of expanding her thouughts. I mean, it isn't his fault, he's working tailor making these songs to her personality. However, they need to sound fresherr, cutting edge. Thaly has been in this business too long to refry the same material. I don;t see how this is so diffrent from Arrasando or Thalia (Spanish). Come on thaly, its not ALL about business. Where is the music? Where is the alma. I am dissapointed at this album fro m someone who should be a pro by now. This sucks. Get in touch with what's happening. Don't just keep working with the same people...expand yourself. Theonly song I liked was accion y reaccion and that was from her greateset hits album. Jeesh. Don't work with the producing stars of yesterday when you can work wit h the one of today or tommorrow. I don't care how many people Corey Rooney or Estefano has produced, I just care that your album sounds cutting edge --not like a flashback from he ninetes or eighties. Amar sin ser Amada was to weak for the US market. None of these songs stand out. Thalia needs to be an innovator ya! What is she waiting for? And she needs to embrace her grown up voice. her higher ranges or notes can being annoying after a while. When she sings at a lower register it is great.
Bubblegum Princess Back with More.......2006-03-03
Thalia has always been poppy, accessible, and just fun. She's not a singer that you would expect to drag you through pretentious things like concept albums or the like. Taken in that context, this album, like her other stuff, is enjoyable. She's got the fun club-scene songs like 'Seduccion' with some balads thrown in for good measure. Plus she's beautiful. SHE'S THALIA people!

True Nostalgia.......2004-03-15
I remember when this album came out in 1973. I lived in Brooklyn N.Y.and Latin music had really taken hold. This album exemplifies the excitement of those times. Palmieri and his band were at there best. This cd is a must have for all Latin music lovers.
Unfathomable.......2003-04-28
This album is one of the greates records of all time. With Puerto Rico from the start is simply amazing. Back in the 70's this song became an anthem for the Puerto Ricans. An excellent grove in the era of La perfecta.
The last Sound of "La Perfecta"........2000-11-20
The last of Palmieri's "La Perfecta Band" before the Lalo Rodriguez era, Eddie's big t-bone sounds with Perfecta originals Barry Rogers and Jose Rodriguez mixing it up with his always great percussion and the great voice of Ismael Quintana will make you either swing with Adoracion or romantized with No pienses asi. This album although made in 1973, belongs to the great big band sounds of th 60's. A must for collectors and young groups. It's amazing how a band of "Hall of Famers" can get together, egos aside and make wonderfull and exiting music.

Much Better!.......2005-09-24
This is much better than your previous self-titled English album though i was happy that you were doing an English album but it turned out to be disappointment. The 'Sixth Sense' is much better. 'Un Alma Sentenciada' and 'Un Sueno Para Dos' are the two best songs apart from 'Amar Sin Ser Amada'. 'Seduction' is not the standards of Thalia. 'Amor Prohibido' you should have not recorded it. You ruined Selena's song! The DVD was a disappointment. Since you launched an English album and you have English fans you should have made the DVD bi-langual not only Spanish. How will we understand? If we don't understand your songs then at least the documentary.
Item To Be Sold, But The Art Needs Discussion.......2005-09-23
I am a Thalia listener since a time that I really don't remember. Thalia is a great Latin singer. Vocal parts and ever enhancing sound of Thalia makes herself a unique artist. Yet, Thalia's label EMI Latin is not talented enough; just like the rest of all EMI companies. They have no promotion at all. Nobody hears EMI releases. EMI is the victim of Thalia's talent murder. They try to impose Thalia as if she was a J.Lo wannabe, as if Thalia's racing with Shakira; but EMI forgets that Thalia was a good female vocal since the age 9, and professionally solo since the date 1990. This date resembles the releases of Janet Jackson, who latter became MTV Icon. Janet Jackson has actual 11 albums released; and she is far beyond discussion the ICON. Thalia has more than 15 official releases (without the addition of Timbiriche and Din Din), and she is being treated as the publicity whore. Tabloid always disses her talented Latin art by blaming her to be Mrs. Thomas Motolla, just as they vulgarly did it to Mariah Carey in the past. But, as you see real talent cannot be covered with dirt. Thalia is unique.
To come to El Sexto Sendito... Thalia's weakest album ever. Since the date 1990 when Thalia released her first self-titled debut, El Sexto Sendito is the weakest one. Thalia had a bad cross-over experience (while all the listeners thought that album was great, and it lacked publicity). Although cross-over was a bad experience, this album goes worse. Why? Because Thalia is someone so big that no fan would accept that she deserves these songs. Song are not bad but, has no sense in Thalia's life. They are good pop songs, that's all. Has no significant impact on Thalia's life. They are not real, they are imaginary. And in the age of 200's, music has shifted from production-filled albums to personal songs. Whoever fills the sense of what they say in albums, gets the best reward.
I ordered this album with the Japanese Limited Edition The Sixth Sense. I have no regret, 'coz I'm a Thalia-Music addict. But to think for the part of new listeners, first time listeners for Thalia; this album would be the cheap copy of any Shakira-JLo-Kylie album. Only the real fans would know Thalia is not that. Only we know that Thalia was bigger than those names when she was a local.
Now, she needs to get back her reputation multipliers back. She needs to do urgent moves with EMI! Or else EMI is going to do something with her contract, just as they did it to Mariah Carey or other EMI publicity failure. Before everything goes wilder, Thalia needs to jump-off and get back the crown that EMI took-off from her.
This album is only a fan-art! Only fans would find it useful, so you are free to think what you think.
THALIA ROCKS!!!
GREAT SiNGER , GREAT ALBUM, GREAT DVD.......2005-09-19

Re-discovering a pop gemý.......2003-06-13
I just recently found myself playing this CD again (over & over) and it gets better and better with any listening. It's without a doubt one of the best latin pop releases of last year. It's a shame that Yolandita does not get the exposure and the recognition that she rightfully deserves. She is an excellent and formidable vocalist with real pipes. Yolandita gives one more time a new meaning to the word DIVA. Get this CD, listen carefully and enjoy. Bravo Yolandita!
Excelente!.......2003-01-03
The Best Latin Pop Album of the Year!!!!!.......2002-03-19
Get ready to enjoy the best pop album of the year, sang by the most sublime voice in Latin America. After so many hits and albums, Yolandita brings a fresh sound in her latest CD. There are modern beautiful ballads like "Si Tu Te Vas"...moving lyrics like "Me Quedo en Soledad" and "Para Que Seguir Viviendo"...wonderful instrumentation like "Te Vine a Buscar". The dance rendition of "La Luna" will be burning the dance floors and beach parties in months to come...great work Yolandita, get ready for many more fans than the thousands you already have!
