It has been a long time since he, unfortunately, decided to stop singing and this CD, truly, reflects best his wonderful voice, his sense of music and the never forgotten songs people loved. Well Laura has finally released a Greatest Hits. Sadly for me her early hits have some unneccesary arragments. Specially GENTE is ruin. SE FUE, AMORES and SOLEDAD, should remain original!, why do they change it, I'm really upset. But the rest of the tracks happily remain in their original version. It's utterly neccesary to mention to say Laura Pausini is one of the vocaly gifted woman of the earth. This is a worth to own album....*****FIVE STARS to Pausini talents, *ONE STAR to the new arragment to the original early cuts.

LA MEJOR DISCO QUE TENGO.......2004-06-12

I first listened to a song from this C.D. in a coffee shop in Spain. It was track 4 "son amores." After listening to this song I immediatly asked the worker in the coffee shop who it was by. I then bought the mejores C.D. and I love every single sony on the C.D. The words are beautiful, the beat in the songs are awesome, and now I am going to buy the rest of the CD's. This is definitely the best C.D. that I own, and the first C.D. I have ever bought that I like every single song on. I would reccommend it to anyone studying Spanish or anyone who speaks Spanish. Me encanta. Ojala venga a los EEUU para hacer un concierto!

I have heard many songs by Laura before, and have always loved her voice. She reminds me a lot of Rocio Jurado...the two of them have an opera-like voice, but sweeter and softer vocals. I had never owned a Laura CD, but "Volveré Junto a ti" along with "Entre tu y Mil Mares", "Escucha tu Corazón" and her voice is more than enough reasons to own this CD. Currently 3 people in my household have this CD!!! God bless you Laura and thank you for your beautiful and mesmerizing voice. Viva Laura.

Hire a New Composer for This Talented Singer!!!.......2003-11-19

By the middle of the 5th track, I was ready to swap out the CD! As a new listener to Laura Pausini, I was mesmerized by her bright voice and at the same time saddened by the monotonous tunes, track after track. Laura Pausini would be much better showcased by borrowing song writres from Celene Dion and even Britney Spears. And I agree with other reviewers that Gilberto Gil should not have a singing career, definitely not with Laura!

BMG/RCA ARIOLA DE MEXICO has put together a great compilation of Beny More's Mexican tour (1945-1952) and also included some of his RCA Havana recorded sessions with his own band and that of Ernesto Duarte. It is great that "occasionally shelved" hit songs like "Las Posadas", "La Maricutana" and "Loca Pasion, by Beny with Mariano Merceron Orch. were included in this compilation. Although more of these rare sessions with Merceron should've been included, this is a "handy to have" compilation, 40 songs especially for those who are just getting to know "El Barbaro del Ritmo", Beny More and above all, the price is right!

This Cd is really cool. I can't help but listen to it when I am in my car. It sort of puts you in a good mood when you're mad. While listening to it, you can't help but start singing the songs even if you may not always understand what they are saying. LOL. I originally bought it at a CD store and I can honestly say that the price that Amazon is charging is much cheaper and a good deal. As stated before it is worth it!

Miguel Bose has been around the block. He's put out some great music and this compilation album does a great job at summarizing the best of his works. Besides his classics, he included in here two '99 versions of his well known works "Amante Bandido" and "Nena", with new arrangements that turned them on their heads into full fledge dance songs. There is no weak spot on this album. It's a well rounded compilation from end to end, highlighting the work of one of Spain's greatest pop artists ever.

Hace 20 anos que oigo a Miguel Bose. Algunos temas de este CD son de su viejo repertorio pero da gusto oirlos. Si nunca compraste un CD de Miguel Bose este es el CD! Tiene todo! Lamentablemente no han incluido un "sample" de "Solo Pienso en TI". Ese es su ritmo! La musica no es todo en Miguel Bose, las letras de sus canciones tienen un algo de sarcastico, un poco de humor... Y ademas su voz es TAN sensual...

I heard a track from this album by sheer chance and I was immediately hooked. I'd never even heard of Bose before but I ran right out and bought this album. I was not disappointed. I don't speak more than abut 10 words of Spanish but it didn't matter. The melodies and his voice are enough for you to catch on to what the song is about. His voice reminds me of a Spanish Roger Whittaker. It's smooth and rich but raw when called for. My favorite tracks are #4 Hacer por hacer and #15 Partisano.

Its futile to argue about the merits of the music, its undeniable. The only thing I can add is that this particular compilation was materfully remastered especially in comparison to the 100 Canciones series which sounds hollow, distant & unbalanced.

In "La Enorme Distancia", the distance referred to is not pysical or geographical, it is EMOTIONAL-in "No Me Amenazes", the singer is NOT begging his lover to leave, but for her to STOP THREATENING to leave him-as the title says, for he cannot stand the emotional uncertainty anymore. Otherwise, I enjoyed your review.

Add a star to the rating on this collection of "greatest hits." Probably every one of El Rey's most popular recordings on one double disc. This is the quintessential CD for lovers of ranchera music penned and performed by El Rey. Although I own most of these recordings in original vynyl it is handy to have them on CD. All the songs are written by El Rey and performed with the godfather of all Mariachi's, El Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlan with arrangements and direction by el maestro Ruben Fuentes. There are classic songs of love like "Ameneci en tus brazos,""Un mundo raro,""Cuando vives con migo," and his great tribute song "Paloma querida." There are songs of many loves like "El siete mares" where he sings of having a woman in every port, of heartbreak as in "La Enorma Distancia" where he longs for his lover who is miles away and "No me amenaces," where he practically cries telling his lover to leave "pero no se ha ido." There are various Serenatas and songs that are about the pride of being Mexican but they have an appeal that is universal. Some songs may be considered by some to be "tears in your beer" music but El Rey has a way of making even the saddest of stories uplifting, it appeals to the macho in all males. Not one loser here just winners. My only complaint is that "El 15 de Septiembre" is missing. Also missing is the heartfelt "Gracias," his tribute song to all his fans, if you've never heard it you're missing something. He's written so many songs though that it is understandable. This is a superb disc that will get countless play from ranchera lovers. The accompanying booklet is brief but informative. Ranchera music never gets old and although Jose Alfredo Jimenez has long ago passed through this world his legacy lives on for new generations to discover and those familiar to savor. Fittingly enough the CD ends with "El Rey", Jose Alfredo Jimenez "sige siendo el rey."

Jose Alfredo Jimenez was the best all time composer of this type of music. All his songs contained in this collection have been sung by many different artist everywhere. Although he is no longer with us, his songs will always remain in our hearts. One of the best collection yet. I have all these already and really enjoyed them. They're sung from the heart!!

I've never heard anyone's songs touch the heart like do Jose Alfredo's. This album has 33 of his greatest songs, an amazing bargain for the price offered.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this generous double CD, 40-item issue including the best of the 1950's (and much earlier) Spanish popular songs, in performances that largely contributed to actually define the essence of what was 1950's Spanish popular music, right at the time when my childhood was in progress..., you see?
Today, this can only bring good memories of warm times with dear mum, never to be repeated.
The "sound technology" is far better than anyone could ever expect from this vintage and, all in all, I assess it as being 9 out of 10.
One word or two remain to be said: there is enough vintage Churumbeles' material scattered around to fill up at least one additional 2-CD, 40-item, "Lo mejor de lo mejor", RCA digital reissue, with absolutely complete assurances of success.

Bringing back memories.......2001-07-17

I have been a Churumbeles de España fan ever since they performed in Panama City, Panama, my country of residence, close to 50 years ago. I did not miss any of their shows and since that time I have been trying to find as comprehensive collection as possible of this group and this is it as it covers all their greatest hits. Although I find the treble to be a bit high, it can easily be compensated by adjusting the control on the amp but that is a minuscule handicap as compared to the great pleasure of listening to these old standards again. RCA has done a great job in this compilation and hope there are more of these in the future with other artists and performers of the 50s decade.
