Paradise Indeed.......2005-11-19

This is another great album from the Spanish hard rock band Sober. Although, Synthesis and Morfologia are more consistent throughout, Paradysso provides bursts of musical expertise in songs like "Arrepentido", "Lejos", and "Animal". I have all the band's albums and this perhaps ranks third best behind Morfologia and Redado (which is unavailable currently at Amazon.com but available for import elsewhere). The sound is much more hardcore than their first three albums (Discografia Essencial) with Tool and Cold reminents. However, their albums Morfologia and Synthesis have many more sounds that directly or very nearly imitate Tool. Overall, this is a great band and it is a shame that they are no longer together. If you enjoy the sound of such bands as Revis, Tool, Cold, Default, and early Staind, then you will like this band as well. You can visit their webpage at www.soberweb.com for further information.

Why are they not FAMOUS!!!!.......2005-04-18

I first heard their song Arrepentido off Paradysso on PuroRock.com and I began my search. I had never heard of a spanish rock band named Sober and Trust me it was extremely difficult to find this cd. Back then no one had it not even amazon, so I had to place a special order @ Tower Records and of course they charged an arm and a leg for it. $26.99 plus tax is what I paid but it was worth it. Since that purchace I learned that they have several more albums but you can only find them in spain, Paradysso is the only one released in the US with a limited amount at that. Although this album is great, its (in my opinion) not their best and certainly not their heaviest; still I believe it is worthy of 5 stars. I found a few extra songs available for download at RockEstatal.com But as for buying other albums I think I'd have better luck flying to Madrid and getting it personally! this is great hard rock similar to but not as musically complex as tool with touches of influences of creed, disturbed and sometimes the vocal stylings of testament's chuck billy show through. i don't think a comparison to silverchair or tantric is appropriate. while they are not as heavy as metallica or korn, they are definitely heavier than those bands. as far as lyrics are concerned, i like heavy rock with passionate lyrics and their lyrics are emotionally driven and charged. son cargadas de emocion si me entiendes. on top of that i am a big fan of the castillian spanish accent and while it doesn't show through in song as much as in speach, it's a refreshing difference from american spanish.

I bought this CD on a whim based on another review comparing them to Tool. I didn't expect much since I hadn't heard of this band otherwise. On top of that, I know very little Spanish.
Well, this is one good CD! I buy a lot of CDs, and this is one that I keep coming back to. Good vocals, heavy strong guitar that reminds me of Adam Jones of Tool. The lyrics are in Spanish so I am not sure what he is saying, but it sounds good. If this were in English, I think it would be a popular album in the US.
I've seen comparisons to Korn or Metallica and I don't think Sober is as heavy as those bands. They are probably more comparable to Tool, Silverchair, or Tantric.
If you are thinking about trying this album, I say "go for it!"

I swear sober is the best metal band in Spaish that I've heard. If you've heard to Creed or any other band in their same category you'll absolutely go crazy over it.

Sôber are probably the best metal band in spain. They sing in spanish but they sound really great. If you like bands like Tool, Creed, Pearl Jam (only the first records) you will like Sôber.

Paradysso is their 4th record, and it is the most comercial record of them all. With songs like "Eternidad"(eternity) have reached top10 in spanish charts. "Eternidad" sounds like Unforgetable fire from U2 but with distortioned guitars and good lyrics.Lyrics that speak about love, hate, and life.

I've seen them 4 times in concert and they've got the best live performance I've seen in a spanish band.

As the Editorial Reviews stated, this is beautiful and strange, all at once.
I stumbled on this band while on vacation in Spain during the summer of 2002 and the song i first heard blew me away.
That song was 'Diez años' and before the lyrics sets in i was sure it was a new american band. Very radio friendly, melodic, agressive and almost industrial sound to it. But the band has more to them then that. They are so full of influences that it's hard to think that they can be original. But they can and they are! Very modern sounding but with the roots in both 80's and 90' hard rock/metal.
Fans of Metallica, Dream Theater, Queensryche, Megadeth, The Cult, Fuel and more will definatly don't want to miss this one.
Pay attention to the title track - it's the best song Queensryche never wrote!
