Great Album.......2007-07-01

My parents owned this album then lost it along with other great albums many years ago, now I have a copy of this in LP (record format). The original album contains 3 records with a total of 30 songs and I have never been able to find the exact release in CD format. Most CD releases like this one only contain a partial listing of the original album. If they ever release it in its' full glory I will buy it in a second. I can only say that I feel sorry for all individuals that do not understand or speak Spanish, because great songs like these can never be translated into English with the same fervor, and gut wrenching soulfulness that this album brings.
I can genuinely say this album in its' LP glory is one of my greatest treasures.

Have you ever had a CD that the minute you heard it you fell instantly in love with it? That's what happens with Canta en Espanol. It doesn't matter if you understand Spanish or or, the beauty, poetry and melodic nature of the music transcends any language barrier. The guitars are soft and gentle, the voices lush and filled with emotion and passion that can only be Latin. The result is incredibly romantic. Combine the gorgeous voice of Eydie Gorme, with the talented music trio Los Panchos, and what do you get? Some of the most amazing, beautiful music ever recorded!

Although she's best-known for her collaborations with husband Steve Lawrence, Miss Eydie Gorme also enjoyed a rich and popular partnership with the Los Panchos, and they recorded a few albums together; the best probably being 'Canta En Espanol'.

On this album (remastered in stereo for the very first time), Eydie Gorme gets to wrap her sensuous, velvet voice around such pieces as "Amor", "Sabor A Mi", "Noche de Ronda", and "Historia de un Amor".

Gorme's phrasing and accents are absolutely spot-on, and the arrangements from Los Panchos are very lush, suiting Gorme's vocals perfectly. For fans of Eydie Gorme, this would be a fine title.

Engineers blew it.......2005-08-07

I settled back for an enjoyable listening only to find the audio engineering so bad I could hardly listen to the CD. In fact, I don't. The intrumental track is OK, Eydie Gorme's track is OK, but the Los Panchos' track is inaudible. I really like Los Panchos for their excellent ensemble work. Not this time. I couldn't hear them.

The point that is good to listen of this CD will be music of a chorus of Los Panchos and Eydie Gorme, and these may succeed in a combination; is finished, and recording is old a little, but contents supplement it.

Even if you are not familiar with the Music of México or don't speak Spanish, you will love this album. The perfect mix of Gorme's wonderful vocals backed by the classic Méxican sound of Trio Los Panchos. Of particular note - Piel Canela - a wonderful bouncy tune celebrating the charms of "Cinnamon Skin" and the classic "Amor" - a balad that has been a hit for many singers. Take a chance on this one - it's Eydie at her best

My mom had this LP and played the heck out of when I was growing up. It's great to hear this old record on CD. Eydie Gorme's voice is very romantic, and Los Panchos playing and vocals are wonderful. Love it. Exactly as I remembered.

An Excellent Buy!.......2004-03-04

This CD is amazing for anyone who enjoys romantic music with "flavor". I borrowed this cd from my mother and have not wanted to give it back. I am here to buy her a new copy!!! The more you hear this cd, the more you'll love it.

A very romantic CD.......2000-05-12

It is quite a romantic album. I must confess that this type of music (danzones) is not one of my favorite genres, but this particular album was my dad's favorite and he played it all the time. In time I learned to appreciate Los Panchos by listening to this recording. Eydie Gorme's voice is always beautiful, but against trio Los Panchos melodies, it just seems to "ooze-out" romanticism (like in Sabor A Mi). Their signature harmonies add to the album's romantic feel. Personally their best work is in Mala Noche & Sabor A Mi. But if you like their voices primarily, get Epocas De Oro. It is in this album that this trio really shines.

One of the most romantic albums ever made, fabulous vocals by Eydie, who by the way did not know any spanish when she recorded this(amazing),with the impecable Los Panchos in the background,a must for anybody who loves romance.
