Duncan Dhu formed in 1984 by Mikel Erentxun, Diego Vasallo y Juan Ramón Viles, on their 2005 20th anniversary were recognized with a greatest hits album and with a tribute called `Cien gaviotas..."

Many artists from the Spanish musical scene appear in this well earned tribute. While the album has some songs that are not at the level of the originals, it is a nice surprise overall. The opening theme sung by many of the participants here is a classic and the new arrangements make it a perfect opening song. Bands like `El canto del loco', `Revolver' and `Elefantes' present some of the best versions in this album; `Elefantes' is in charge of covering one of the greatest songs Duncan Dhu had: `En algun lugar', a unique version in the pure style of `Elefantes' that will satisfy the most purist fans.

Ivan Ferreiro also makes an appearance with an interesting interpretation of `Mundo de cristal'. The best version indeed is the one that Rosana sings, the melancholic yet romantic mood she prints to `No puedo evitar (pensar en ti)' is just unbelievable; this version, opposite to the others included, surpasses by far the original and live versions Duncan Dhu recorded. Another highlight of the album is track 9 performed by Andres Calamaro and Cristina Liso, their version of `Siempre' is a keeper.

Bottomline, some songs are not worth the listen while some others (like the mentioned above) are a must for Duncan Dhu fans and music lovers. Seventeen themes that include the most selected songs of the band's discography make of this album an interesting experience for fans.
