Pupi is a Genius !.......2005-06-09
The piano's tumbaos are very rich.. you will be exited if you are listening or dancing this CD. I love the melodic and rhythmics lines of Tirso Duarte singing the new version of "La Bomba soy Yo". Trombones fills are simply but drive me crazy because they are very harmonized with the lyrics and chorus. Changuito put his hands in the rhythm section here. You can hear his personal style impressed in almost all songs.
My Review of the first two songs :
1. Que Cosas Tiene La Vida
From the beginning this CD start with the power of an innovative piano. I love the chorus and melodic lines by Armandito, specially taken from Pedro Navaja : "La vida te da sorpresas, sorpresas te da la Vida", and from Violeta Parra's song "Por eso yo te canto [Gracias a la Vida que me ha dado tanto]".. The rythm is a kind of merensongo... and i love the last lines from a brazilian song "Afina tu tambor y dejate de chiki chiki chiki chiki chaaa"
2. El Vecino Se Mudo
This song starts like a traditional son or cuban salsa, the simplistic conversation between trombones and trumpets is very interesting. The lyrics remember me to a lot of people who i knew, they hasn't life and always were worried about what i did the last night !!.. I had to move also sometimes .. jajaja..
I love the part "Si no se calla amarrale la lengua, y dale duro duro pa' que aprenda" and "No pudo mas a la vieja Juana, recogio el cubo y la palangana y se mudo'". Try to listen and enjoy the piano's tumbao!!.. Pupi is great!!.
But, the after the powerful chorus "Caramba que fue lo que paso'.. " this song will not be the same.It's changing from traditional rythm into an innovative songo who will drive you crazy!..Listen to the drums part here.. i love it!.
