5 out of 5 stars *******Another Reggaeton Classic*******.......2006-02-23

I just started listening to Reggaeton sometime last year and it has been an amazing experience. Coming from a carribean country -->Belize <-- I truly feel reggaeton. Reggae was my previous preferred genre, but accessibility to the reggae clubs I like is limited where I live, however there are a bunch of reggaeton spots and they are all playing great music! It is a combination of all the best music and understanding Spanish is not necessary to enjoy the rhythm and soul in these artists....I especially like Dominicana...

5 out of 5 stars Reggaeton went international because of this..........2005-11-14

Tego graduated from a Puerto Rico music conservatory with percussion as his concentration. It certainly shows as he rips apart any beat on his way with words you hadn't heard in ages but all greatly intertwine and add to his lyrical flavor. People that do not understand spanish will miss on much of the experience but any person that likes good beats and good rhyming has to appreciate the hability of this ugly but talented dude who with this CD sparked the world's curiosity for reggaeton that led to Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Ivy Queen and Wisin y Yandel hit the Euro and North American airwaves and hit deep within the spanish speakers and international beat lovers alike. A great intro to how much fusion can go into this genre and how it ties into Puerto Rican folklore (the established salsa soneo, the Jamaican dancehall/reggae & the U.S. hip hop). A must-have CD for anybody that wants to get a taste of reggaeton and a guaranteed party maker. If you understand how Tego rhymes, an ecstatic musical experience. Oh, and about Cali Playa 415's review (again), throughout his review history (check it out if you're interested why such strong feelings) he is basically a hip hop fan that is a reggaeton hater and has continually given one-star reviews to the genre's best performing records, most of those ratings in a couple of days, maybe because of having lost a rhyming battle to a reggaeton singer or some similar traumatic experience :-). The validity and objectivity of his reviews are for you the readers to judge. Give yourself a chance to like reggaeton and start with Tego's 2003 record, you won't regret it.

1 out of 5 stars He's no Tupac, Biggie, or Nas.......2005-11-13

People need to stop comparing this fool to Pac, Biggie and Nas. I think thats an insult to those artists and completely untrue. First off, this album is not hip hop its Spanish music. The beats are not even up to par on this album. Also, this guy doesn't know if he wants to be Domincan or Puerto Rican. I want to make a comment to Gorrilla; if you shook his hand tell him to put music out for "everyone" to listen to.

Don't waste your money on this album. Buy a Sean Paul, Capleton, or Sizzla album instead.

5 out of 5 stars REALEST MC IN HIP-HOP AND REGGAETON.......2005-10-27

I've had this CD for over 3 years now, and I never get bored of listening to it. This is the absolute best reggaeton cd ever created. The fusion of dope lyrics and bumpin' beats make this the equivalent to a Illmatic cd or Ready to Die. I have to say that when I first heard Tego, I wasn't feeling him. I hated his nasaly voice and his repetitive lyrics. Then my sister bought El Abayarde, and that's when I became a religous fan. Sounds corny, but I shaked Tego's hand when I went to a concert a year ago. 5/5 stars, Favorite songs are Abayarde, Pa' Que Retozen, Loiza, No me Explota, Guasa Guasa, Dominicana, Cambumbo. I basically like every song. I never skip ahead to any song. ABSOLUTE BEST CD. YOU CANT LOVE REGGAETON AND NOT HAVE THIS CD.

4 out of 5 stars This dude is str8 snappin, even though I don't understand a single word of it!!!.......2005-10-23

As someone who listens primarily to southern rappers such as TI, Three Six Mafia, and Ludacris, this CD is clearly a reason to believe that you don't have to understand the lyrics to a song to like it. I first heard Tego when he did a collabo with 50 Cent a while back. At first I was like, wtf? I wasn't feelin' it at first, but the more I listened, the more I started to like it!! I admit, I couldn't understand WTF this dude was sayin, but it was cool. It sound like he was flowin so thats when I realized that I had to hear more of this dude to see what's up. Man, you gotta listen to it! It's hot. Some of the tracks are a little odd to listen too (especially if you aren't used to hearing reggaeton)but the beats is all dope. I wouldn't mind beatin' a few in da ride either. There that good. My favs is Guasa Guasa (it sound like he talkin about smokin trees!is he?) and Gracias (at least I can understand the title). I also like Dominicana too, that one is real hot.

Because of this CD, I have been introduced to Reggaeton which I didn't even know exisited until I heard this and Oye Mi Canto wit NORE on it. I gotta say, if you gone listen to it, this got some of the best Reggaeton out there.

5 out of 5 stars Loiza's Lyrical Prophet has arrived...........2003-08-31

This is what hip hop is supposed to be...raw lyrical talent using language only the people can understand...despite the large commercial appeal, the heart and soul of this project is deep within the afro-rican struggle that has been silenced for too long. This album is reminiscent of Boogie Down Production's breakthrough in Hip Hop where all the production was raw and originality thrived. Cant wait for the follow up...
