Slave To The Machine is a fantastic disc worth buying. Anyone that likes 80's Hard Rock or Ac/Dc around the Dirty Deeds-High Voltage era should look into DIRTY LOOKS! They are by far my Favorite band and have been since around 1989 when I discovered Cool From The Wire. I've done everything I can think of to grow my collection from then. Don't stop with the 3 listed CD's. They are all great. I even have I Want More, In Your Face and the self titled idependant releases. Cool From The Wire, Turn Of The Screw, Five Easy Pieses, Bootlegs, One Bad Leg, Chewing On The Bit, Rip It Out, Slave To The Machine, Rumbledog-Rumbledog, Rumbledog-Drowning Pool, & Burning Orange-Taar close out my collection.

Muy buena propuesta.......2006-01-13

Definitivamente Bahiano presenta una propuesta en base a lo que pudo desarrollar en su era con Pericos, tanto asi que el grupo ya no es el mismo sin el; perdio el alma y estan tratando de buscar alternativas que creo a la larga no daran resultado. El Bh+ es bueno, por una lado responde a todas las atrocidades que se dijeron en torno a su salida de Pericos, por otro grita a todo el mundo que, sinceramente, y duela a quien le duela, era, es y sera el alma de un grupo que penosamente quedara en el olvido sin su presencia. Canciones como "Asi Sera", "Sales", "Planes", hacen que este CD merezca las 4 estrellas que como fan incondicional de Pericos (y ahora mas de Bahiano, obvio)me atrevo a colocar. Su mistica, su voz, su llegada, hace que Bahiano sea irremplazable, para los oidos de todos. Compren este CD, se los recomiendo, para que siga viva esa llama perica.

Un disco mas .......2005-11-08

En realidad este disco de Bahiano no es el peor del mundo pero tampoco regala nada nuevo, no se si es pop, reggae, rock, funk, tiene de todo un poco y a la vez no llega a nada. Si este disco hubiera sido realizado por un cantante desconocido quizas no tubiera ni una estrella, pero con el background de Bahiano por lo menos vendio algunos ejemplares.Lo unico que puedo decir de estos dos discos que ambas partes perdieron, pues bahiano necesita a pericos y pericos a bahiano. si a bahiano le doy 3 estrellas al nuevo album de pericos le doy 3 y media pues es menos mal que el de bahiano, pero tampoco logra nada. Canciones rescatables del disco?, muy pocas, ni el duo con vicentico es bueno. creo q las mas rescatables son "Asi sera", " grandes dias" y "mas de mi" que son escuchables. esperemos que el proximo disco de bahiano se decida por un ritmo mas estable y que nos entregue canciones con mas esencia.

the recording itself is kind of weak - heavy on the string section. otherwise a good way to hear other country's anthems, although that may soon be against the law if asscroft has his way.

Omits China and India.......2001-10-09

I haven't purchased this set, but I did notice two surprising omissions in the lists above: China and India. I have no idea why a 2-CD set covering 73 countries would choose to omit the two most populous countries of the world (which together comprise one-third of the world's population), but it was one reason I decided to go with another anthem compilation.

Impressive, but not perfect.......1999-01-03

When the acclaimed Austrian wind band Swarovski Musik Wattens attempted a national anthem set, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. What I got was an impressive collection of national anthems performed with reverence and style, with some magnificent arrangements, though a little short on patriotic zeal. Some arrangements were stirring - UAE, Armenia, Egypt (magnificent), Brazil (this one's always terrific, but SMW deserves credit), Bulgaria, Ecuador (a pleasant surprise), Britain (the universal standard), Iraq, Italy (despite a fundamental melodic error), Cameroon, Malta, Mongolia (the best track), Austria (understandably), Peru (highly musically impressive), Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia (powerful), Spain, South Africa (glorious in the repeat), Thailand (majestic), Venezuela, and Zimbabwe. However, some, sadly, came up short - I was not impressed by a stagnant Norway, a plastic Philippines, a plodding Poland, an almost funerary Portugal, and badly arranged renditions of Slovenia, Oman, Syria, and Turkey. Algeria had its moments, but the beginning was painfully dissonant. Greece was torn apart by a strange rhythmic background, while Ireland and Iran were simply too slow and Germany was thoroughly mediocre. However, in the often-inconsistent anthem world, this two-disc set is a beacon among flickering candles for its masterful combination of patriotism, emotion, and musical genius. If you buy one national anthem set this year, make it this one.

Large collection for the price, but not perfect.......2006-07-30

As with these sorts of all-inclusive collections, there are issues to be had with 'National Anthems of the World' as performed by the Swarovski Orchestra. Primary--to me--is that these performances and arrangements come off as being rather sterile and bland, though it's perhaps not surprising since I doubt very much that most of the nationalities of the nations represented here have citizens actually in the Swarovski Orchestra. There's little of the passion that a national band or orchestra would have in playing their own nation's anthem, much like listening to a generic studio band play play a collection of college fight songs (and there ARE CDs of those out for sale as well).

That said, this 2-disc CD set does offer a wide spectrum of national anthems, though it does a far better job of covering European nations more so than any other region. For instance, Central America is poorly represented in this collection as is Africa which, aside from Cameroon, the heart of that continent is conspicuously ill-depicted. But the biggest omission is China; neither the mainland or Taiwanese anthems are included in this set. Considering that The People's Republic of China is the most populous nation on earth, as well as a global political and economic force to be reckoned with, even in 1996 (this CD set dates from 2004, but at least one online database list the contents from the mid-1990s), this is a glaring oversight in my opinion.

The final gripe deals with the included documentation. Each of these anthems DO have titles to them, none of which the producers of this collection ever bother to mention and provide. One has to go to Wikipedia or some other resource to look up the actual name of the anthems included here. This is information that is relatively cheap to research and out of courtesy to the consumer should've been provided for this set, especially since this collection has been around in some form for over a decade already.

For the money, it's a fairly good buy for those who want a collection of national anthems. But the producers could've done a better job of compiling the contents of this collection, and what music there is would've certainly benefitted from a bit more impassioned play.

excellent selection & quality sound.......2005-08-27

Swarovski Orchestra did an excellent job in this compilation. I work in Foreign Service & I use this CD to play US anthem & the host country anthem during events. Unlike other compilations which shorten the pieces, this offers full-length pieces saving me from embarrassment.
