Puerto-Rican Cheo Feliciano owns a gifted voice, naturally caliente for that kind of romantic songs of love which are the main characteristic of the 'bolero', a kind of rhythm and style of music born in Cuba but very well succeeded in Central and South America.

Señor Feliciano is certainly a master of bolero though he also sings different repertoires.

This album is one his classic ones with bolero repertoire and counts on arrangements of Argentinian Jorge Calandrelli who became one of those favorites in the USA. He's worked for Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis and Yo Yo Ma.

Señor Feliciano sings a collection of standards, including his smash hit 'Juguete' and the all-time Cuban hit 'Contigo en La Distancia', with beautiful song and lyrics by poet Cesar Portillo de La Luz.

BTW, Señor Portillo de La Lus used to say that 'bolero' is the musical synthesis of love. No doubt.

A must-have album of good music.

In my opinion, this is Cgeo Feliciano's all-time best album. This is the kind of music that instantly puts you in the mood for love and romance-- wether you play this CD as background music during a candlelight dinner or as the sound track to an evening of lovemaking it's more than guaranteed to please. As far as I'm concerned, Cheo's romantic and passionate vocal performances on this classic surpass the brilliance of even his best salsa albums. Jorge Callandrelli provided some very lush and beautiful string arrangements that compliment Cheo's vocals perfectly. (Note: I'd seriously give this CD ten stars if I Could!!!)

If you have ever fallen in or out of love you will most certainly be able to relate to the ten great songs on this CD. Cheo offers some truly heart-rending, heart-warming interpretations here and covers everything from the joy, satisfaction and fulfillment of loving and being loved in return ("Ansias De Amar", "Siempre De Ti", "Contigo En La Distancia") to the pain and sorrow brought about by a love affair or romance gone bad ("Nuestras Vidas", "Cansancio", "Enfriamiento Pasional"). The orchestration and arrangements compliment Cheo's silky-smooth, passionate and emotive voice perfectly. A must-buy for any romantic music fan.
