Customer Reviews:
mostly weak material and wasted talent.......2004-07-04
I think Alejandro Fernandez is one of the best singers on the planet, but I can't get too enthusiastic about "Luchare por Tu Amor"; it has a weak melody, and considering what he is capable of vocally, it is an underwhelming performance. Fernandez plays Zapata in "Zapata, el Sueño del Heroe", the latest film from director Alfonso Arau, whose previous "Like Water for Chocolate" and "A Walk in the Clouds" are beautifully made, delightful films.
I usually like Ana Gabriel, and her singing is unique and lovely, but "Morir para Vivir" is about as ordinary as a ranchera can get, and does not do her artistry justice.
Tres de Copas' "Esta Vida", and Jaime Camill's "La Tierra de Mi Pueblo" are quite pleasant, but the remaining 3 songs, which are "pop" style ballads, will make good use of the "skip" button.
The CD ends with two instrumentals from the soundtrack by Ruy Folguera, and the sound quality for these final tracks could be better.
The foldout insert has the lyrics for "Luchare por Tu Amor", and the recording info for the 11 tracks.
Total playing time is 45'56.
Good, but..........2004-06-23
The two scores (11 & 12) are wonderful, specially GUERRERO SAGRADO a beautiful song. EL HOMBRE DE MAIZ is the score that appeared in the movie trailer.
Thus, it's a good soundtrack. The only bad point is the small selection of scores, and the missing of others good songs of the movie. It can be a soundtrack with 20 tracks.
Great... But Where's The Rest?.......2004-06-12
