Of over 600 songs, Fischer-Dieskau and Gerald Moore realized over three-quarters: these are those. Gerald Moore was of course as important to this project as Fischer-Dieskau.

DGG's sound is excellent.

Another must have if you're a collector of Oldies.......2007-07-12

I had been looking for one song for a long time, I'm gonna sit right down and write myself a letter by Billy Williams and that's why I jumped to buy this one. You'll enjoy the mix and sound quality of the original songs by the original artists that make up this CD. In fact all the Radio Gold CD's have a very good mixture and blend of familiar oldies. You won't be disappointed.

Radio Gold, volume 3.......2006-11-07

I wanted one song, The Garden of Eden by Joe Valino, and that is what moved me to buy this CD. However, I found a CD full of songs that I loved, from Johnny Mathis's Twelfth of Never to Johnny Otis's delightful Hand Jive and the quirky Freight Train which was very popular for a time. I have enjoyed this CD greatly as it gave me more than I bargained for. Musically, I am a product of the 1950's, specifically 1955-1965 and I loved this music of that time. I didn't have the money to buy every record that I enjoyed so many of them went by the way and I did not have a second chance to get them. I started with this CD and I have been so delighted by it that I plan to buy volumes 1 and 2 soon. The songs on this CD are by the original artists that made them famous but the sound is so much cleaner, minus the record scratches, the hisses, and other strange noises that were part of our listening experience. Do I miss the noises? No; the purity of music sound does not take away from my good memories of the music. In fact, I hear instrument nuances that I did not know existed on the original recordings. This is so good for me that I would not hesitate to encourage my friends to buy it and it would make an outstanding Christmas or birthday gift for anyone who lived in that time and who listened to the music. It is a wonderful addition to any CD collection.

Okay I am biased as I compiled these collections for EMI but I honestly believe for the money both offer great value and provide a good chronological insight into Cilla's musical heyday of the '60s & '70s.

Each CD in the "Cilla in the..." series features essential recordings each digitally remastered at the legendary Abbey Road studios. This includes chart hits, classic album cuts, fan favourites and material by songwriting greats like Burt Bacharach, Marvin Gaye, Phil Spector, Paul McCartney, The Bee Gees, Jackie DeShannon, Roger Cook & Roger Greenaway and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The Good with the Bad.......2003-08-23

One of the best things about albums such as this one is the memories the music brings back. One of the worst things about an album like this is hearing a song that has the same title as the one that brings back cherished memories but doesn't sound anything like the one you remember. Telestar is a good example. The Telestar on this albums pales by comparison to the the piece done by the Ventures. "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", "Stranger on the Shore" as well as "Love is Blue", all fall into the same dissapointment. But the others sound as great as ever. Still worth buying. But if any of the aforementioned songs are favorites, be forewarned.

Fools Gold.......2005-12-02

If your goal in buying oldies music is getting the version you remember, this isn't the compilation for you. The artists may be the same but in most instances either you're getting the original singer and different backing band or a newly recorded rendition that just sounds "wrong". There was a certain ambiance to vintage recording gear and the same song recorded today just will not repeat the sound it had on the original 50s or 60s track. The only tracks on this that are the original artist AND rendition are "The In Crowd","Come Go with Me","Wild Thing","Town without Pity","What's Your Name?" and "Red River Rock". The Little Richard tunes are credible versions though clearly re-recorded.

BOTTOM LINE:
Skip this one....

I am extremely disappointed with this CD. This piece is misrepresented on the cover as containing "the original tracks", but only two or three cuts are the original recordings. If you're into RE-RECORDINGS, you will accept this album-otherwise don't waste your time.

Some of the songs on this CD, do NOT sound like the original recordings. Also, sounds a little TINNY to me. Nice to have all these songs on one (1) CD, but could have been a better quality recording.

I would have rated this CD higher, if it were a higher quality of CD. the recordings apear to be very poor. some of the songs obviously had the speed incorrect, and some of the songs were not the least bit acurate on the speed. some very serious production problems, aparently in the duplicating process. I almost returned the CD as a reject. this is unfortunate, as some of these songs were very good songs. Please wake up compose and dominion records. this problem was in both your products.

I did notice that the cataloge number for the advertised disc is 9073 while mine is 9073-2. Could they have changed it and not updated the Amazon offering to match?

Pretty Good CD - but the tracklist is not correct.......2004-12-22

This CD is a great value, especially considering the price. I found 15 decent songs out of 29 on this CD. The sound quality is fairly good - none are outstanding however. Most tracks are in stereo and clean - they just don't have that full-bodied sound. Maybe they weren't taken from the original studio tapes or it's simply because these songs are from the '50s and early '60s. Still I think the sound quality is quite acceptable.

The main disappointment for me was that I bought this CD for the song, "Yes, I'm Ready" by Barbara Mason. It was very annoying to find that this song was NOT on the actual CD. Instead there was this lame song by Bobby Sherman, "Easy Come, Easy Go".

Anyway, there are a lot of good tracks here, more than I usually find on CDs of this type.
